I bought a ticket for the ShadowsCon in Germany this month and was actually really sad when they canceled Matthew Daddarios participation (double Panel with him and Dom probably would have been hilarious and full of hand teasing π) Hell I even payed 50 bugs for a picture with the man. But considering this hell of a ship war that is currently going on, maybe it is for the best that neither Matt or Harry will attend the convention. Maybe this way people will actually behave and not get the actors involved in this. I just saw a "jalec" tagged post that said stuff like: Every time someone sais they ship Jalec a part of Matt dies! Of course Matt supports Malec like the rest of the cast. (Compared to the books) It is actually good representation, needed representation! But it is also the most popular ship of the fans of a show he does for work. What is he supposed to say? That he doesn't like it? The cast supports Malec, but you can't expect them to ship it like you do and definetly not to hate others because they don't, but still support the work the actors make their money with! I kinda got off track here but what I wanted to say was: I am truly worried for this Convention I actually looked forward to. It was my god damn Christmas present and now I am just afraid that it will be awful, because I actually meet more disrespectful bullies then social and respectful people in this fandom. So if anyone of you is going to the ShadowsCon and is able to politely converse (or simply not attack) a jalec shipper) I would be glad to hear from you. Maybe together we could get happily exited about meeting (some of) the actors of our favorite show.
Yuck this organization is horrendous. I can't believe I actually payed them money and was planning on going to their con... I hope Kat, Dom, Stephanie and Kaitlyn hear about this too and decide to just pull out. I am sorry for everyone wanting to meet the left over guests, but we all deserve better then this shit. I myself have send them an email and demanded a full refund and am currently looking in to see if I can attend ShadowWorldCon instead. Milan and Paris are sadly no option for me right now... Respect for Matt for looking into it and speaking up about this issue while the promoters keep their mouths shut. He's the real hero today and deserves nothing but love. π
ShadowsCon disappointment
Mattβ and Albertoβs appearance at the ShadowsCon in Frankfurt beeing canceled SUCKS! With Harryβs absence anyway that leaves only half of the main cast and hardly enough people for an entire weekend program. I really hope they will make it up to us by giving the rest of the actors more panels. Give me blondy every day and maybe this wonβt be a total disaster. I was mostly in it for Dom Sherwood anyway, but was also looking forward to a Parabatai panel.
