"you're not easy to find," Jace said as he finally had her cornered. "That's the fun part" she smiled as she turned to face him. "True," he said. "Why are you trying to escape?" he asked. "Because what I do is no one's business and you Jace need to realize that," she said. "Arabella now you know I can't just mind my own business now" he chuckled slightly. "You have never been able to do that," she smiled. "That's true," he said as he moved closer to her. "What is it that you want with me?" she asked. "To love you" he smirked. "Love me?" she laughed slightly." Jace, you know nothing about love' she rolled her eyes. "I can change that" he grabbed her by her hips. "Oh, can you now?" She placed her hand against his chest. "You can change that," he said. "I'm just a silly mundane," she said as she pushed him away. "I didn't mean that Arabella," he pouted. "it was a stupid conversation," he said. "Oh was it now?" She said, "Well those words hurt," she said. "I'm sorry," he said as he pulled her close to him again. "Yea right" she rolled her eyes. "Sorry you got caught," she said. "No I'm truly sorry" he kissed her cheek. "You're not some silly mundane to me," he said as he moved his lips against her neck. "Uh-huh," she said as she started to moan. "Forgive me" he whispered in her ear before nibbling at her ear. "I don't know Jace," she said. "Please," he said as he continued to suck on her neck. "Are you a vampire now?" she asked. "I can be if you want me to," he said as he gently bit her neck.
She started to moan as he continued to suck on her neck. She placed her arms around his neck as he pushed her against the wall. She decided to take full advantage of the situation as she moved her hips against his. She pushed him against the wall, removing his shirt. Placing her lips against his neck, slowly moving down his body. Getting down on her knees, undoing his pants. Sliding them down allowing him out of his pants, he was already excited. She kissed up his body, sucking on his neck as he leaned his head back moaning. She took him into his hand, rubbing him softly making sure he was hard. Then she pulled away from him and walked away from him. Leaving him wanting her but knowing she was out of reach. He sighed and pulled his pants up as he watched her walk away. He knew she needed time to cool off and forgive him, it just sucked that he had to wait for her. Arabella was something else, she was the girl that made Jace fall in love. He would do anything for her and that scared him. He went back and started working on the next mission with Alec. Of course, Alec could tell Jace was frustrated in more ways than one.
"Calm down, it's not going anywhere" Alec jokes. "Ha ha, very funny" Jace snapped back. 'Arabella is still mad at you I see" Alec said. "Maybe," Jace said. "Did you say sorry?" Alec asked. "Of course I did," Jace said. "I don't know what else to do," he said. "Maybe don't call her a silly mundane person," Alec said. "Ok asshole I get that" Jace rolled his eyes. "Don't take it out on me," Alec said. "Can we just figure out our plan for this mission?" Jace asked. "Sure bossy pants," Alec said.
They finished preparing for their mission. It was late so Jace went to his room, where he found Arabella waiting for him. He sat on the bed waiting for her to speak.
"So you have nothing to say?" she asked. "I do but wanted you to talk first, get whatever you need to get off your chest," he said. "Am I just some stupid mundane to you?" she asked as she looked at him. "Of course not," he said as he grabbed her hand, pulling her between his legs. "You are so much more to me" he admitted. "Am I?" she asked. "Yes and I hate that I've made you insecure" he looked up at her. "Jace" she looked at him. "I've fallen for you," she said. "And I have fallen for you," he said. "I never thought this would work out between us," he said. "Why because I'm just some silly mundane?" she said as she walked away from him. "Because you are a mundane, not a silly one," he said as he stood up. "I've never fallen for a mundane person before and you've never known my world before," he said as he moved closer to her. "You've shown me so much of your world," she said. "And I love having you a part of my world but let's be honest, not many mundanes know about the shadow world," he said. "I know that but I just want to just be some silly thing to you," she said. "Arabella you aren't" he pulled her to him by her hips. "Promise?" she wrapped her arms around his neck. "Yes I promise" he leaned in and kissed her softly.
She kissed him back, holding onto him by his shirt as she deepened the kiss. He pulled away from her and rested his forehead against hers. He picked her up and placed her on the bed, he moved over on top of her. He leaned down and kissed her softly before laying beside her. They spend the night just cuddling and talking about everything. He tried his best to make sure she knew how much she meant to him. He also understood since the comment he made, it would take time for her to be secure with him again. She snuggled close to him, resting her head against his chest. Using his heartbeat to put her to sleep, he was her safe space. In the morning she woke alone like she normally did. She took a quick shower before she left the institute and went back to her apartment. She grabbed her books and notebooks for class.
"There she is," someone said. "Hey Jordan" she smiled as she saw him. "Where have you been?" he asked as he hugged her. "Just out, enjoying the night," she joked. "Fun, so tonight you're coming right?" he asked. "To?" she looked at him, trying to figure it out. "My birthday party," he said. "Your birthday was like a month ago," she said. "Yea and finally everyone can get together for it," he said. "Of course, I would be there, wouldn't miss it," she said. "Good, see you later," he said. "Bye," she said as she left the apartment.
Jordan was her best friend since she could remember. They were always together and always inseparable. People even thought they would end up together but they have always just been friends. Even though Jordan was her best friend she didn't tell him about Jace or the shadow world. It killed her not to tell him but certain secrets were to keep him alive and she wanted to keep it that way. It was dangerous for her to know these things but Jace would never allow anything to happen to her. She finally arrived at the college campus, going straight to her class. Once she finished all of her classes she went back to the apartment. When she arrived the door was opened. She slowly entered and noticed everything was knocked over. She wasn't too concerned about the things but the blood caught her attention. She followed the trail of blood into the kitchen. She saw Joran laying on the floor with a pool of blood around him. He was clutching his stomach, trying to stop the bleeding. She grabbed a towel and rushed over to him placing pressure on the wound. She called 911 and tried to keep Jordan calm, as well as keep herself calm. It seemed like it took forever for the ambulance to get there. They finally did and she moved out of their way. Arabella rode in the ambulance with him to the hospital. She was left out in the waiting room as they rushed him back. She called Jace hoping he could come to the hospital. It didn't take him much time to get to the hospital. He quickly found her in the waiting room and rushed to her side. She didn't tell him what happened so when he saw the blood he was concerned.
"Are you hurt?" he asked. "I'll kill whoever did this," he said. "It's not me, it's not my blood," she said. "Who?" he asked. "It's Jordan," she said. "What happened?" he asked. "I came home and the door was open, I found him in the kitchen," she said. "It will be ok," he said as he pulled her into a hug. "I'm scared I'm going to lose him," she said as she started to cry. "I got you," he said as he rubbed her back. "We will figure it out," he said. "I don't know what happened," she said. "Shhh it's ok," he said as he sat down with her.
He quickly called Alec telling him everything that was happening. It seemed like the minutes were standing still, with no updates. A few hours later finally a doctor came out.
"Who's here with Jordan?" the doctor asked. "I am," Arabella said as she stood up. "Come this way," The doctor said. "Ok" She nodded as Jace followed her. "I'm sorry to inform you but Jordan didn't make it through surgery," the doctor said. "What?" She said as she started shaking. "I'm so sorry, we have already contacted his family," the doctor said. "No this can't be happening" she started crying. "We are supposed to celebrate his birthday today," she said. "I'm sorry," the doctor said once again before walking away. 'NO!" she broke down crying, falling to her knees.
Jace helped her stand back up, cradling her into his chest. She screamed and cried, hitting Jace's chest. She was lost, she was angry. He placed his hands against her cheeks, brushing her tears away with his thumbs. Kissing her forehead softly as she started to calm down. He held her close to him as Alec came into the hospital.
"Alec, what is it?" Jace asked. "Come with me," Alec said. "Sure," Jace said as he sat down with Arabella. "Stay here, I'll be right back," Jace said. "Ok," she said as she took a deep breath in.
He walked down the hall with Alec trying to figure out what was going on.
"Spill Alec" Jace finally said. "Demons," Alec said. "Demons?" Jace asked, "Her place is full of demon DNA," Alec said. "Who is Jordan?" he asked, "Her best friend, why?" Alec said. "He was killed by a demon, they are coming after her" Alec said. "Why?" Jace said, "They are demons, do they need a reason?" Alec said. "True" Jace sighed. "We need to keep her safe until we figure it out," Alec said. "Got it," Jace nodded as he walked back to the waiting room. "Come on Arabella," he said as he grabbed her hand. "I don't want to go home," she said. "You are staying with me," he said as he placed his arm around her shoulder. "Ok," she said as she wrapped her arms around his waist.
They made it back to the institute and Jace took Arabella into his room. She lay on the bed as he went to go fix her some tea. He knew the tea would put her to sleep so he could figure out what was going on.
"Here you go my love," he said as he returned to the room. 'Thank you," she said as she took the cup from him. "I know today has been hard but you need to get some rest," he said. "I'll try but I don't know if I can," she said. "All I see is how I found him," she said. "I know," he said as he sat down next to her.
Once she finished the tea they laid back in bed together. She snuggled close to his chest, feeling safe in his arms. She drifted off to sleep, he leaned in kissing her forehead softly before getting out of bed. He went into the meeting room with Alec and Isabelle trying to figure out what was going on.
"Do we have any leads?" Jace asked. "Do you know Lilith?" Isabelle asked. "What about her?" Alec and Jace both responded. "Well she's the one that controls demons so maybe she would know," Isabelle said. "So we have to make a deal with the devil basically to save my girlfriend?" Jace asked. "Girlfriend?" Isabelle smiled. "Yes, my girlfriend and I need to keep her safe," Jace said. "Well maybe you shouldn't have brought her into this world," Alec said as he crossed his arms. "I know a mundane person shouldn't know about the shadow world but she was different," Jace said. "Different to get her killed," Alec said. "Enough you two," Isabella said. "Just saying," Alec said. "And your job is to protect the mundane and guess what Arabella is," Jace said. "Oh shut up Jace not everything revolves around your big head," Alec said. "I don't mean to step on anyone's toes, just need to figure this out," Jace said. "And we will Jace," Isabelle said. "We will keep her safe," she said. "Thank you," Jace nodded.
Meanwhile, in the bedroom, Arabella was struggling to stay asleep. She was tossing and turning in the bed. She started having weird visions in her mind. Jordan came to her in a dream, saying that she needs to leave. Leaving Jace and the institute, she wasn't safe there. She woke up sitting straight up in the bed, her heart pounding out of her chest. That's when she realized she was alone. She tried to calm herself down and slow her heart rate as she turned the light on. She made her way to the window, opening it to allow fresh air to come in.
"Jordan I'm so sorry," she said as she looked up at the sky. "I'll always love you," She said as her tears slipped from her eyes.
As she was looking at the moon, wishing she could change everything. There was a dark cloud hovering over the building. Slowly creeping towards the window. Once she realized the cloud it was too late because it entered the room. She slowly backed away from the dark cloud until she hit the wall. She tried to scream but nothing came out, the dark cloud had control and she didn't know what to do. The dark cloud disappeared into Arabella, her eyes turned black and then back to normal. The demon had Arabella's mind locked up so it was just the demon seeing through her eyes. Jace had no idea what was going on when he returned to the room.
"Hey babe," Jace said. "Didn't know you were awake," he said. "It's ok Jace," Arabella said. "Are you ok?" he asked. "Why wouldn't I be?" she asked. "Because your best friend just died," Jace said as he looked concerned. "Oh that, I've pushed my feelings down," she said. "It's how I deal with things," she said. "Are you sure you are ok?" he asked. "Yes I'm ok" she smiled. "Ok well let's get some sleep," he said as he grabbed her hand. "Sure," she said as she followed him back to the bed. "Come here" he pulled her close to him. "Hey, you" she smiled as she leaned in kissing him softly. "Hey" he smiled against her lips.
She turned the kiss from gentle to passionate. Pulling on his bottom lip as she ran her hand down his chest. She gripped his shirt and pulled it up, exposing his stomach. He finally pulled it off, throwing it onto the floor. He moved over top of her, leaning down and kissing her softly. He moved his lips down to her neck, and she leaned her head back and moaned. He nibbled slightly making sure to leave a mark. He wanted the whole world to know she belonged to someone. He gripped her shirt, pulling it up and removing it from her body. Leaving her in just her panties, he leaned up just to take in her body. He pushed her hands above her head, pinning her down. He took his free hand running it up her thigh, in between her legs. That night he played with the devil without evening knowing it. After she cuddled to his chest, they both started drifting off to sleep. In the morning Arabella woke up with him in the bed. She sat up and stretched her arms before getting out of bed. She made her way to the bathroom and got ready for the day.
"Hey, you," Jace said as he walked behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist. "Hey" she smiled. "How are you this morning?" he asked. "I'm fine," she said. "Are you sure?" he asked. "WHY do you keep asking me that?" she asked as she closed her eyes. "Because you just went through something traumatic," he said. "Jace, please help me! They have me trapped" Arabella said. "SHUT UP," the demon said as it took back over. "I didn't say anything" Jace looked confused. "But what has you trapped?" he asked. "Don't mind me, just woke up" she said. "Look at me," he said as he turned to face him. "What?" she asked. "Look at me," he said as he grabbed her chin, tilting it up so she could look at him. "See I'm fine," she said as she looked at him. "Yea ok," he said as he could see the emptiness in her eyes. "I'll head back to my apartment," She said. "You can't, it's a crime scene," he said. "Well where can I go?" she asked. "I want you to stay here," he said. "Sure," she smiled.
They went down to the kitchen to get breakfast and after that, they went their separate ways. She stayed at the institute but she was away from Jace. The demon who was controlling her went through files, and computer systems just trying to figure out what mission.
"Stop trying to fight against me! I'm going to win" The demon said. "What?" Alec asked as he walked by. "Just talking to myself," She said as she looked at him. "Ok," he said he thought it was weird but he just walked away. "Excuse me you aren't supposed to be in this room," Isabelle said. "Oh sorry," Arabella said. "Silly me," she said. "Uh huh weird how Alec didn't catch that," Isabelle said. "Guess he's busy," she said as she went back to Jace's room. "Can we talk?" Alec said as he walked up to Jace. "Yea I think we need to talk," Jace said. "It's about Arabella," Alec said. "I know," Jace said as he pulled Alec to the side. "Something isn't right with her," he said. "So you've noticed it too?" Alec asked. "Yea" Jace nodded. "Her eyes are empty plus she said something weird this morning," he said. "Weird like what?" Alec asked. "Please help me, they have me trapped," Jace said. "Something has her trapped?" Alec asked. "She could have a demon," Alec said. "The demon that killed Jordan is Jace's ex-lover," Isabelle said as she pulled it up on the computer. "Wait what? How?" Jace asked. "I don't date demons," he said. "Well apparently when she died she had a lot of hate in her heart and got trapped down in hell," Isabelle said. "Can that happen?" Alec said. "Yea it can" Isabelle nodded. "That's who's in Arabella," Jace said. "Wait, someone is controlling Arabella?" Isabelle said. "Yea we think it's the demon," Alec said. "Well we have to kill the demon," Isabelle said. "And that's a risk because Arabella is mundane," Alec said. "It could kill her," Jace sighed. "But we don't have any other choice," Alec said. "I know," Jace said. "And last night" he shook his head knowing what they did. "Where is she?" Alec said. "Last I saw she went into Jace's room," Isabelle said. "Let me talk to her first," Jace said. "Sure" Alec nodded.
Jace went to his room where he found Arabella laying in the bed. Alec and Isabelle guarded the door while Jace was inside. They were ready for anything and kept an eye on Jace.
"Hey babe," he said as he walked in. "Hey" she smiled as she sat up. "So can I ask you a question?" he asked. "Yes of course babe," she said. "Ok Lavinia" Jace said. "So you have caught on" she giggled slightly. "Oh my innocent Jace," she said. "What are you doing here?" he asked. "Because you damned me for all eternity," She said. "No, I think you did that to yourself," he said. "Now your precious love is gone forever," she said. "What did you do to Arabella?" Jace asked as he stood up. "Just locked her up" she smirked. "Now are you afraid of me?" she asked as she stood up. "Arabella, if you can hear me know everything will be ok," Jace said. "Please forgive me," he said. "Forgive you? Why would she ever forgive you for killing her?" she asked. "Because that's the only way to get me out of her body," she said. "I know that," Jace said as he started to get angry. "Wonder who Jace will choose," she said as she walked around Jace. "It's always the next pretty thing that comes his way," she said. "I loved you Lavinia but our lives just could work," Jace said. "Oh you LOVED me" she chuckled. "That's great to know," she said. "Please make this easy," Jace pleaded. "Now why would I want to do that?" she asked. "I love to watch you squirm," she smirked. "Oh come on," he said. "What can I do?" he asked. "Nothing honestly," she said. "I'm sorry, Arabella," he said. "I want you to pay for what you did to me," she said. "What did I do to you? Realize I wasn't in love with you?" he asked "Yes! everything was going perfect and you ruined it," she said. "Perfect for you but it was never there for me," he said. "I'm truly sorry," he said. "You're just saying that so I'll leave your girlfriend's body," she said. "No I'm sorry that I hurt you Lavinia '' he said. "Yea right, you just want to banish me from her body," she said. "But you have to kill poor Arabella," she said. "It doesn't have to be like this," Jace said. "It's love or death," she said. "Please" he begged, signaling to Isabelle and Alec to come in. "Poor Jace doesn't get what he wants," she pouted.
Alec and Isabelle came into the room, grabbing Arabella. Holding her down while Jace grabbed his seraph blade. He stabbed Arabella in the stomach, trying to get the demon out of her. Lavinia, who was using Arabella's body, screamed and fought to stay in her body. It was too much and she vanished back down to hell while Arabella was released from the prison in her head.
"Jace" she cried out. "I got you," Jace said as he pulled out the blad.
He cradled her in his arms, adding pressure to the wound. Alec and Isabella rushed to give medical attention, trying to stop the bleeding.
"Arabella stay with me," Jace said as he held her in his arms. "Look at me," he said. "Jace" she looked up at him. "I love you" she whispered. "I love you," he said as he brushed the hair from her face. "You will be ok," he said.
She closed her eyes as they continued to work on her. Medics rushed in taking her to the hospital. Jace followed them and held her hand while they were working on her. He closed his eyes and just prayed that she would pull through. He kissed her hand as he tried to stay hopeful. He knew seraph blades were dangerous to mundanes and he could lose her. He just couldn't allow Lavinia to control Arabella. The thought of Arabella being trapped in her mind was torture enough. He ran his stelle over one of his ruines, to take Arabella and himself to a happy place.
-Flash moment-
"Jace wake up silly head," Arabella said as she kissed his cheek softly. "Uh?" he rubbed his eyes. "Wake up" she kissed him. 'mmh" he smiled against her lips before kissing her back. "Morning," he said. "get out of bed," she said, "No, stay with me," he said as he pulled her back to him. "I'm right here Jace" she looked at him. "I know and I want to keep you right here," he said as he leaned up on his elbows. "What's wrong?" she asked. "Nothing babe" he placed his hand against her cheek, brushing his thumb against her skin. "Ok well I made breakfast before we go to the beach," she said. "Breakfast?" He looked at her. "What did you make?" He asked. 'Waffles and bacon," she said. "Blueberries, strawberries, and some mangoes," she said. "Sounds good," he said as they both got off the bed,
He grabbed her hand and led her downstairs. He made them both a plate as she sat down at the table. He leaned over kissing her forehead softly before sitting down at the table. They began to eat and once they finished he cleaned up the kitchen. She went and got things ready for the beach date they had planned. Once he finished cleaning up he went back upstairs to get ready for the beach.
"Pick one for me," she asked as she held up her two bathing suits. "Um the red one," he said. "Thank you" she leaned over and kissed him softly. "This is the girl I fell in love with," he said as he looked away, tears burning his eyes. "What are you talking about?" she asked. "Sorry don't mind me," he said as he tried to push the thought out of his mind. The thought of, in reality, she was fighting for her life. "Once I change, I'll be all ready to go," she said. "Ok sounds good babe," he said as he kissed her softly.
They left the house once she changed and went to the beach. They spent the whole day at the beach, playing in the water. Building sandcastles and just laying around enjoying each other. He was taking in every moment because he didn't know what would happen once they came out of this happy moment. She leaned against her elbows as she took in the sun, it was starting to set.
"I love the beach, we should move closer to the beach," she said. "Maybe one day," he said as he looked at her. "I totally would," she said as she looked at him. "Yes I can see you living on the beach with your three kids" he smiled. "And my husband," she said as she leaned over, kissing him softly. "Nah it wouldn't be me" he joked. "And why can't it be you?" she asked. "Because my track record says otherwise," he said. "But you are with me now so everything will be ok," she said as she grabbed his hand. "I sure do hope you are right" he sighed as he sat up. "What is going on with you today?" she asked. "Nothing, just thankful for moments like this," he said as he stood up. "Moments like these are what we live for," she said as he helped her up. "Yea it is," he said as he picked her up, running towards the water. "JACE" she yelled as she started to laugh as they went into the water.
The waves washed over them separating them. When they came back to the surface he grabbed her, pulling her closer to him. She wrapped her arms around his neck to stay attached to him. He leaned down kissing her softly, she smiled against his lips before kissing him back. She gently pulled on his bottom lip before pulling away. He looked at her as the sun was setting, the night sky coming in.
"Look at the moon," she said. "It will never be as beautiful as you are," he said. "Oh stop it" she gently pushed him. "It's true," he said as he held her close to him. "I love you, Jace," she said. "I love you" he whispered in her ear. "Please come back to me," he said. "Guess we should get ready to go," she said as she pulled away, swimming back to the shore. "Yea" he nodded as he swam back as well.
He walked up to the beach and started to pack their things. He realized that she wasn't there with him, he turned around and she was still at the shore. She had her hand over her stomach, blood was dripping from her hand.
"Arabella," he said as he rushed to her side. "What's going on Jace?" she asked as she looked at him, with tears in her eyes. "This was just a moment in time to distract us from reality," he said as he also had tears in his eyes. "From reality?" she asked. "What's going on?" she looked at him. "It's a long story but I stabbed you and now you are fighting for your life," he said. "You stabbed me?" she asked as she looked down at her hand. "Not on purpose, I didn't want to Arabella," he said. "It was to save you from the demon," he said. "I understand Jace," she said. "I'm sorry" he placed his hand against her cheek. "I love you, Jace," she said as she looked up at him. "Please stay with me," he said. "I will always love you," she said.
-End of the flash moment-
The moment ended quickly as he opened his eyes back to reality. He was left in an empty room, blood all over the floor. He didn't know where Arabella was or what had happened. His heart was pounding in his chest as he looked around the room. Tears filled his eyes as he placed his head down in his hands. His worst fear had come true, she was gone and it was all his fault. She was the woman that came into his life and turned his world upside down. The only one he ever loved and now he feared that she was gone. Was she truly gone?
