To the Shadowhunters fandom:
It has been a ride, to say the least. We’ve had our ups and our downs, our triumphs and our failures. We hit rock bottom and still, we persevered. I am proud of us.
Last night, we said goodbye to our show. Whether it is forever or for just a little while remains to be seen but the fact of the matter is, that what we saw last night was an ending. And endings are always bittersweet but a necessary part of life.
I know I’ve pulled back from the fandom for the last few months, due to some mental health issues that were exacerbated by the constant fight to save our show. It doesn’t mean I love the show any less and I will get caught up on the episodes I couldn’t watch.
I am thankful for my time in this fandom. I am proud of the stories I have told, the friends I have made, the memories I have forged. I love you all and am here for you now and always.
If you need to grieve, grieve. If you feel like celebrating, do it and don’t think it makes you less of a fan for being happy at the ending we received. If there is one thing this fandom excels in, it is community, so reach out if you need. Keep sharing your stories, your art, your passion.
The show might be over but the fandom will continue on for years to come. This may be an end, but it’s also a beginning. Where we go from here is up to us.
Let’s make the next chapter great.
