Mothers stir the apple cider, dads rake the leaves in the yards. Children run up and down the streets counting pumpkins and betting which houses will have the best candy, marking up their routes for trick-or-treating for tomorrow night.
It starts with a flaming paper bag on Mrs. Norrisâ front porch. Upon stomping the flames out, she discovers the bag was filled with some unsavory waste from what she hopes was a dog. The McNillan twins wet themselves when someone emerges from the shadows, dressed as a terrifying clown and chases them down the street. Houses get T.P.âd. Statues get spray painted. No one, no rebel nor pious person, is spared. The pre-Halloween pranks have begun. Where do you stand?
Are you victim or vandal?
This is our FIRST PLOT DROP for our Halloween event. This plot drop affects all characters. Posting or responding to starters regarding this plot drop is not mandatory, but encouraged. Feel free to think of creative situations your character will encounter. Are they the victim of the prank? Have they just been caught pranking someone, or are they conspiring with another character? Do they work in law enforcement and now have to answer every call and show up on every door to hear complaints? Reach out to other players, put up a starter, and let your imagination run wild.
This plot drop will last from now until October 11th at Midnight EST. In the gameplay, Mischief Night will last all night, going from 6 p.m. to  2 a.m. on the first day in game time.

For centuries, All Hallowâs Eve (or Halloween) has been the night for all of the things that go bump in the night to walk among the human and mortals. Over the years, the meaning behind Halloween has taken many interruptions and forms depending on each culture. But, in North Carolina, in a little town called Shadow Falls, one of the states most popular ghost stories reign. In Sleepy Hallow, they may have the Headless Horseman, but down south, Shadow Falls is the town devoted to the Siren of the French Broad. Tourists come from far and wide to catch a glimpse of the ghost with the long dark-hair out in the water and to try their luck to hear the call of her song. In Shadow Falls, townsfolk are urged to for their difference to fade away over the next few days and come together for a day of âunityâ and âacceptanceâ. But, not everyone looks at Halloween this wayâŚ
This is the list  of the activities happening on Day 2 of the event.Â
The event will be concluded on October 20th at midnight EST. It will however only cover October 17th to the 20th in game play.
The tag for this event is #shadowhalloween1. So, please remember to tag all event related threads, pictures, outfits, etc. as such. Also, remember when posting a starter, to use both the event tag as well as the start tag. This event is mandatory, because of all the plot drops we will be having. If you do not want to participate, you do not have to, but we ask that you put your character on Hiatus for the time being or message the main, so that we can be aware if you and another player want to have your characters doing a private thread where theyâre away for the weekend instead of participating. Also, because of this, we have decided to close acceptances off during the two weeks of the event.

ACTIVITIES for DAY 2 aka Halloweekend:
So, whatâs happening in town on Day 2?
We have several activities for citizens to take part in listed below. Feel free to post starters in any order which you like. For example, feel free to make a starter about a party and then later post one about a prank. The times associated next to each activity are just in case you want to describe if it was sunny out or your character is grumpy that itâs super early etc.
Clean up Crew/Silent Dance Party:
After all of the teepeeing and pranks that were pulled last night, the mayor has sent out a request for volunteers to help get the townâs streets prepped and ready for trick or treating. So if youâre an early bird or someone whose house was hit last night, make your way down to town hall to borrow some industrial trashcans, replacement decorations, and have some morning bagels, pumpkin spice lattes, and mini pumpkin pies all courtesy of the Pie Hole. Thanks to the Shadow Falls Public Library, the town will also be renting out headphones that you can pick up to par-take in a silent dance party of sorts in order to make the town clean up just a little bit more fun! So, jam out to some music and help get the streets all suited up for todayâs activities.
When: 8 to 10 am.; Where: Town Hall
The Haunted House:
The corn maze and hayrides will still be running all today, as well as, the Spookfest Street Fair. But, with an added bonus of one of the largest Haunted Houses this town has ever seen. The entire Library (including the street outside of it which has been transformed into a zombie run inspired obstacle course that youâre welcome to go through) has been transformed into an incredibly interactive experience that is sure to give you goosebumps. All of the proceeds from the tickets will go to new books  and each floor of the Haunted House has a different scare level.
Participants: Donât worry if youâre a scaredy cat, the first floor of the building is the part of the Haunted House that is for all ages from kids to adults. If you have the heeby-jeebies from only that, feel free to leave through the back entrance. But, if your a horror fanatic or a haunted house enthusiast, take the elevator up to levels 2 and 3. If you make it through all three levels, youâll not only get a sticker and a pen that looks like a syringe, but bragging rights for all your friends.
Volunteers: If you have signed up to work the Haunted House, then you will be transformed into a scary monster of your choosing and be given a post where you can jump out and scare whoever is walking through. You can be a severed head in a fake dinning room table or one of the zombies in the zombie run. Just remember, youâre not allowed to touch the participants just as they are not allowed to touch you and donât forget to say boo!
OOC: Because the SpookFest Street Fair is still going on, the added stuff about witches and sirens are still in effect today too.
When: 10 am to 7pm; Â Where: Â Shadow Falls Library
Trick or Treating:
No one can forget one of the most popular parts of Halloween being Trick oâ Treating! And itâs no secret that in Shadow Falls, the best street to hit during your candy run is Elliswood Avenue. This picture-esque street is dominated by upper-middle-class families who love to compete for the best-decorated homes each year. Itâs famous for the elaborate decorations and king-sized candy bars. Itâs a perfect street to take the little ones trick-or-treating. Your character could be a resident of Elliswood Avenue, someone who appreciates the effort, or a chaperone for some kids for part of the night. (For a better idea of the houses on Halloween, check out these links [x] [x] [x]). There is even a magnetic sword in a stone at the street sign where young and old can try to see if they are the âchosenâ one.
Temporary Freedom: Once again, every supernatural in town has temporary freedom. If a species would like to walk around freely with their wings stretched out, reveal their fangs, etc. The risk of being caught for indulging in supernatural pleasures and appearances is low seeing that many hunters and cops cannot distinguish the difference between species throughout the weekend. Yet, cops are still on duty, patrolling the streets more heavily than usual, so even though supernaturals wonât be arrested for wandering around in their true form, hunters and supernaturals donât get the complete freedom they have during the Full Moon (aka killing and feeding on other people in the streets is a no, no).

The Monster Mash:
On night two, there are one again two separate parties you are welcome to attend:
Neverland: Neverland will be putting on an all out costume party. Come donning your scariest garbs, your sparkliest make-up, or your cutest couples costume. There will be THREE main categories: 1. Best Coupleâs Costume (can be funny, extra spooky, or cute!) 2. Scariest Overall (the scariest costume of the night.) 3. Cleverest Clown (not actually a clown costume, but a costume that the judges deem hilarious or clever.) Tag your characterâs costumes with #shadowinspos and #shadowhalloween18
When: 8 pm to 2 am Where: Neverland Speakeasy
Saints and Sinners: For those looking to indulge in the more hedonistic aspects of the night, Saints and Sinners is the place to be. With live musical performances and generous bar tabs, this is the club to live out your dark fantasies. Bring your costume, or as others would put it âlingerie with animal ears,â grab a drink, and hit the dance floor.
When: 9 pm to 2 am Where: Saints and Sinners Club
Open Carry
Open Carry: The open carry policy is still in effect, so after the clock strikes 9 pm, the open carry policy begins. This means that you are allowed to take whichever alcohol beverage youâd like the streets as you wandered through the night. And for Vampires, special drinks will be offered all weekend with blood infused in it thanks to the Local Blood Drive and to the Hamlin Groupâs newest creation- blood tablets. Drop one tablet into a glass of water and it instance becomes artificial blood for you to enjoy.
When: 9 pm to Midnight. Where: All Over Town
The Siren on French Broad Spotting:
Last but not least, as the time ticks to midnight and the fog rolls in, make your way down to Elm Street, the Trails, and the Pier to catch the Siren show on the water and a glimpse of the ghost herself. The show wonât start until 2 am, but if youâre smart, youâll try to get there early to grab a good seat and get some good old fashioned hot dogs, turkey legs, and other traditionally american style food from the Devilâs Diner food carts set up along the water.

The sun begins to rise on the fourth and last day of the Halloween Weekend. The chaos seems to be calming down and, for the first time since the blackout, the streets seem actually fairly quiet. Until the sounds of chopper is heard overhead.
Maybe the vampire poisoning was just some cruel mischief prank or maybe it was distraction the Hamlin group put on so that no one would be paying attention to their two soldiers when the helicopters hovered overhead. Either way, itâs hard not to notice the government issued copters circled over the town early that Sunday morning.
We know weâve been throwing a lot of things at you recently, so this is less of a plot drop, as it a reminder that the EVENT ENDS TOMORROW! We hope you all have had a lot of fun with all of these plots drops. And, donât worry, we will be posting two different event recaps over the next few days. The first event recap will be posted on the main explaining in a little more detail everything that had been happening from what Logan and Skylarâs motives were to what this means for the town and world as a whole. We hope this recap will clear up any possible confusions about everything that occurred and how it is all connected. Please, also, note, that the event recap post will include the unfollows for Skylar and James (as they are being extracted on the helicopters⌠dead or alive⌠dun dun dunâŚ). So, this is also a reminder to please try to wrap up your threads with these characters. But, donât worry. You can still keep your event related threads going after the event ends with other characters. Just try to wrap up the ones with these two.
The second event recap will be posted later on the Gossip Blog and will be about you guys! Including as many characters as possible and recapping everything that you guys did the event in character.

This is hopefully going to be a really exciting admin note, but, as many of you already know, based on your votes, the dates for our Halloween themed event will be from October 8th to the 20th! We know that is still over a month away, but we, the admins, are starting to get prepared for it now. This event is going to be a plot drop filled event which we hope will, not only expand the world in which your characters are interacting in, but, also, give you guys some fun added drama.Â
But, we need your help.Â
We will be bringing in *drum roll please*, not one, but two temporary villains for this event. One who seems to be calling the shots and the other who will be an accomplice of sorts. We already have one of the villain spots filled. But, weâre posting this on the main to see if any of you would like to play the second spot? A couple things you should know about these temporary villains are that:
They will be brought in sometime during the event with the account links to follow being posted in one of the plot drops
These two characters will be in play for the duration of the event where they will either be killed in play during the event or will disappear after the event ends to potentially be brought back in during a future event
These characters are temporarily. There sole purpose is to stir up drama and add to the plot/world of the RP. So, they will not be allowed to be in play after the event is over unless to wrap up existing event threads.
If you are interested in playing this type of character, please shoot a message to the main! Itâs that easy. Just let us know that you are interested. But, also, note that because this character is so crucial to event, we will not be picking who will play this character on a first come, first serve basis, but based on the ideas you bring to the table for them (which character best fits our existing event details) and your current activity. Also, note, that if you send us a message saying that you are interested, we might not get back to you for a week or two, because we want to, first, make sure that everyone who is interested has reached out to us, before we start deliberating who should play this spot.Â
Last, but not, least, if you want your character to be triggered or severely injured, or have any major plot related stuff your interested in exploring with your character, youâre welcome to send us a message now so that we can start tying it in to the event and villains stories/backstories. But, you do not have to. You have all of September and into October, to figure out things such as that.

After finally cutting themselves down, your date will take you into the backyard where a projector will be playing â10 Things I Hate About Youâ onto a sheet that has been tapped to the side of the building to look like a screen. Shadow Falls was founded in 1903 with little more than a main street. Over the past 115 years, the town has grown into a thriving small town with a diverse population of residents. Come celebrate our townâs founding the week!
This is a relaxed event to encourage character interactions and fun plot drops. Players are welcome to continue any ongoing threads during this event.Â
We will have several activities for citizens to take part in, including carnival games, carnival rides, and booths. This post is an announcement of our event so players can begin submitting ideas for the event. The event will happen starting July 19th to July 26th.
Business owners are strongly encouraged to submit a promotional booth/activity for the celebration. Simply tell us which character is hosting the booth, what the booth is, and what participants will do. This can be a one sentence, written submission. If you are not a business owner but would like to submit a booth for your place of employment, that is also encouraged.Â

Crown of Shadow Falls Auction:Â This is an anonymous bachelor/bachelorette charity auction. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Shadow Falls Parks and Recreation Department. Contestants will submit their answers to a short questionnaire via the submit box. The admins will then post a plot drop with all of the anonymous answers per Contestant. Players will be able send in bids to the main each day based on which contestant they want to win the date with. Please note, if your character is participating in the Auction, that specific character cannot bid in the Auction. Either gender can participate.

ACTIVITIES:
Even though most of the places and shops are closed down for the festivities, we promise you, there is plenty to do:
Colonial Reenactments:Â
For those of you morning birds, put on your colonial garments and make you way down to Wonderland Park, for our back to back reenactments. The first reenactment will be that of the Civil War, with a short intermission in between (where a live band will perform), before the second reenactment of the founding of the town begins.Â
Participants: For those participating, there will be trailers lined up against the outskirts of the park where you can find costumes and weapons (that have been cleaned out, but be careful- they still might have a kick to them and some residual gun powder) provided to you by Shadow Falls recreational theater department. There will, also, be a makeup trailer with products provided by our lovely sponsor, the Hamlin Group, to really help you get into character. So, pick which side you want to be on for the skit, practice your accents and have fun with it!
Viewers: If you are watching the reenactments, please make your way to the bleachers lining the outskirts of the fields. Concessions will be provided from Diner 66â˛s (Devilâs Dinerâs) signature hotdogs to authentic turkey legs.
When: 8 to 10 am.;Â Where: Wonderland Park.Â
The Founderâs Parade:Â
After the reenactments ends, make you way down to Main street to watch the parade go by. Put on by mayor, the parade will floats will pass through all of the major streets before stopping in front of the historical town hall building. Wave as all of the participants of the reenactments go by, get a sneak peak at the bachelors and bachelorettes who will be contestants in the Crown of Shadows auction, catch a handful of free candy, and even buy some Girl Scout cookies. Donât forget, the floats will stay in front of town hall for the rest of the night to play around on and take pictures with.
When: 10 am to 12 pm;  Where: Starting at the Docks and working itâs way up to Main Street.
Founders Fair:
By the time the parade ends, the reenactment will be all cleaned up and itâs time for the fair to begin. The Founders Fair is a Carnival of sorts, with a bunch of games, booths from almost every store in town, and rides! From the Ferris Wheel to the Ripcord to a fun house with a room full of mirrors, the Founders Fair will be up all night and offers something for everyone!

Crown of Shadow Falls Charity Auction:
Right before the sun begins to set and evening rolls around, the anonymous Bachelor/Bachelorette Charity auction will begin. All proceeds for this auction will go the Shadow Falls Parks and Recreation Department. Bid on your favorite bachelor, you just might go home with an amazing date that will sweep you off your feet.
OOC: WE WILL BE POSTING THE CROWN OF SHADOW FALLSÂ CONTESTANT AND BIDDING INFO IN THE NEXT TWO DAYS, SO STAY TUNED. YOU STILL HAVE TIME TO SUBMIT CONTESTANT SURVEYS IF YOU WANT TO.
When: 6 pm to 8 pm; Where: the main theater located in Level Up!
Fireworks:
End you night by watching the fireworks be set off over the pier. If you chose to watch the fireworks from the Ferris Wheel, legend has it, whoever youâre sitting next to when the clock strikes midnight and you will be bonded for life. Or, if the legend isnât really your thing, you can hop on one of the many colonial style ships taking people out on the water to get a front row few of the fireworks overhead. Not to mention, you can get a tour of a pirate ship, participate in boat hopping party festivities, and even end the night by walking the plank and taking a dive, followed by a little summer swim. But, if neither the boats or the Ferris Wheel are your fancy, you can always set up your lawn chairs across Thistle Trails for a calmer end to the evening.
As this event wraps up and nears itâs end, we just wanted to reach out and ask if anyone had a plot about their character and another character being on the ferris wheel together to watch the fireworks, if you could send us the names of those pairings to the main? Just send an ask such as âFireworks: Ella & Silasâ, so we can keep it on record.Â
To jog oneâs memory, there were multiple different locations to watch the fireworks at the end of the event at, but if you and another character decided to watch the fireworks together on the ferris wheel (instead of the other locations), rumor has it that the two of you will be bonded for life for good or for bad. So, we just want to keep a list of those pairings for a potential future event or plot related thing!
If your character wasnât on the ferris wheel during the fireworks, feel free to completely ignore this request.Â
