Beneath the Milky Twilight || Noah + Kenzie
Kenzie was doing a lot of things that she’d either never done or hadn’t done in a very long time. She’d never gone on a scavenger hunt and she hadn’t dated anyone since she was in high school, after her first boyfriend had died. To say that she could have a date, that she chose, knew about ahead of time, and also one that was uniquely dorky cute and seemed generally fun, meant that it was a win for her, even if the bidding took a very expensive turn. She was happy for her dad otherwise, she’d have lost before it got started.
As the Gouda and the note arrived, she chuckled. He wanted her to wear the crown and not her contacts or glasses. That was a look that she wasn’t used to. One that often caused her to eyes to be downcast, and yet she felt comfortable enough around Noah that she didn’t go the route of shame of what she was. Maybe it was because what she was had no effect on him. She wore the glasses and contacts over to his place but when she was safely out of sight, she took them off and stuffed them into her purse. When she saw him though, cue cards in hand she had to giggle because he definitely was dangling upside down in a spider-man costume. Kiss Me was playing and she felt as though she were in a very cheesy movie, but she liked it. In fact, she’d always enjoyed those cheesy rom-coms and wanted to be like those girls just before the ending credits. That was one of the big reasons she’d pursued this date with such vigor. “You certainly know how to make a very enticing date. One that a girl like me couldn’t help but fight for.” Which she wasn’t a fighter, so this was definitely something she really wanted if she didn’t just give up. She walked closer to the adorable dangling man so that she could read the cards then.
