Honestly, seven/jamie is my all-time favourite rare pair and I'm soooo sad that there are so few fics about them (╥_╥)

I simply think that their dynamic would be really interesting (and cute). The Doctor meeting Jamie after all this time apart and Jamie having to learn who the Doctor is again- the Doctor reflecting on his past and their time together while Jamie tries to understand how and why the Doctor has changed so much. I think we should meet Jamie again maybe 2-5 years after he was dropped back into his time (so maybe at 27-30 years of age?) - and while yes, it hasn’t been that long: he is still a different person. He went through a war and had to rebuild his life without a large portion of his clan. in addition he now has a body that changed: new scars he can’t remember getting. Along with nightmares, the feeling of having lost something but not knowing what - the pure horror of it all. The trauma of losing his memories and getting them back - having to cope with these kinda parallel lives he's lived. I feel like the 7th Doctor would be such a great choice for that kind of story - there are so many elements of the second doctor in him (ones jamie would recognise) but he’s also different in a lot of ways that matter (more secretive, darker, sometimes more alien etc.)

It's such an exciting premise (*^‿^*)

Also, Ace + Jamie? They would be such a fantastic duo! (can you imagine the banter?)

Sometimes I wish I was nearly as good of a writer as you - I would write a million stories about them. Until then: praying more people will become as obsessed with them as I am. Oh God, sorry for rambling for so long (ಥ﹏ಥ)

Anyway I am so sorry this took so long to reply to. I don’t always get notified when I get messages in my inbox and I’ve been taking care of some irl stuff so I haven’t been active on tumblr lately. I am so excited to see this message either way, so thank you so much for taking the time to reach out and send such a message! It really makes me happy!!

Honestly, I love Seven so much. He’s my top 3 Doctor and actually one of the first classics I ever sat down and watched. I just love his personality, how you can just see how he’s the same Doctor as all the others before him and yet he’s different, he’s changed. And I think Sylvester McCoy was also a fantastic choice for this role and he does amazing (I just gotta throw that in here; if I could ever just shake this man’s hand, I would die happy)

That idea though is so interesting and I can definitely see how that could work out. I mean, I already sorta did a story in which Jamie had to learn to live without to Doctor after being sent back, dealing with knowing there’s something missing but he just can’t figure it out but the thought that it could be Seven that found him after all this time would actually make so much more sense. I think about how different the Doctor is by that point and yet how easily the two of them could fit back into each other’s lives. Yes, like you said, with a bit of a learning curve here with them realizing each other’s lives lived without each other. Jamie finding Seven so much like Two but darker. I love it!

Ohhh but Ace!!! I love thinking about Ace too! I have a WIP I haven’t worked on in months, but it does have to do with Ace being rather new to traveling with the Doctor and one day they land in this nice little place and visit this lovely cottage to “visit and old friend” who happens to be the Doctor’s husband (and of course he did not tell Ace anything about this) I’ll work on it again someday but I got writers block around that time and other things too priority unfortunately.

I love thinking about seven/jamie and I do have some fics in the works but they’re constantly on the back burner because I get ideas for all kinds of things and end up working on those instead. I mean, the life of being in two fandoms that constantly fight for attention in my brain 😅

I’m so glad to have someone yapping in my inbox, I always welcome that! You’re also welcome to DM me here (or discord, if you prefer, you can always ask for my info!) but honestly I just love talking to people about my favorite things, it’s so nice to meet new friends in fandom! Please don’t ever feel sorry for sending long messages. As you can see, I talk too much myself!

One more thing before I go! I say if you want to write, you should! I wouldn’t ever worry about being “good enough” of a writer. If you like it, if you’re having fun, that’s what matters. Even I still compare myself to my favorite fic writers and wish I was as talented as them. Even now, I have quite a few fics lined up for flufftober this coming week and I don’t think they’re nearly as good as others.

Granted I’m on chapter two, but I have feelings. He’s been thinking about Susan and he’s thinking he’s not done good enough (this is like, the precursor to Twelve’s ‘am I a good man’ thing he’s got going) and thats emotional enough but:

Jamie is a companion of the Second Doctor who was sent back to his own time (18th century Scotland) with all of his memories of the Doctor taken from him. It’s as if all his travels with the Doctor had never existed.

Seven in the SevenJamie refers to the Seventh Doctor (quite a ways away from the Second!) I got a prompt from I think @sailoreuterpe for “your favorite Doctor — welcome home” and I immediately thought of Seven because he’s my third favorite and there’s not enough Seventh Doctor fics on ao3!

The synopsis is: the Seventh Doctor somehow ends up landing in Scotland in the 18th century. He accidently runs across Jamie, in his 50’s, surrounded by family and he’s got grandchildren and he looks so happy. And he has no idea who the Doctor is because he hasn’t gotten his memories back. Just being with the Doctor reminds him and when the memories came back, Jamie wont let the Doctor leave without him.

This is the first time I’ve ever written Seven so it’s been a bit of a challenge but I’m having fun. It’s a lot longer than I originally thought (I’m not surprised—happens a lot!) but as of right now it’s meant to be in two parts and part one is complete!
