Settee, woodwork (ca. 1763) German sculptor Johann Michael Bauer (1710β1779) carved this corner settee for a garden pavilion at Schloss Seehof, Bavaria, Germany. The design uses latticework and painted leaves to mimic the look of an outdoor garden arbor. Its natural shapes and floral details show the playful style of the Rococo period. Loc. Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Dim. 109.2 x 138.4 x 64.1 cm (43 x 54 1/2 x 25 1/4 in.)
