The Northern Lights have seen queer sights,
But the queerest they ever did see
Was that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge
I cremated Sam McGee.

NaNoBlogMo, Day 18 â Weâre all just bones with stories on
Originally posted on www.camannwordsmith.com Last night was my best in some time.
Back in 2015, I wrote about Marian Callâs cover of âThe Sound of Music,â which unintentionally featured a sassy marmot. She is, in addition to being my favorite songwriter, a wonderful human; her shows always have a strong sense of that familial, âweâre in this togetherâ vibe that really only comes from a certain type of artist. That feeling was party because @snarke and I had several friends in the crowd and partly because itâs sort of the nature of house concerts, but also thatâs just the sort of ambiance you get when nerds congregate and get to be thoughtful and sad and joyful and silly all in 90 minutes.
We heard the classics we loveââThe Volvo Song,â âGood Morning Moon,â âThe Avocado Song,â âNerd Anthemââbut also some deep cuts, and a new track thatâs made possible by her patrons.** She and Seth, who has new album out, have such a wonderful vocal blend.
**Marianâs Patreon helps her to create music year-round instead of every few years. I managed not to choke up during âHighway Fiveâ and the end of âGrandpa Had It Right,â but just barely. On the opposite side of the emotional barometer, we laughed during âThe Elements: Expandedâ and bobbed our heads to the beat of âLike This,â which is as close as many of us get to dancing. One of the things I love about attending concerts from artists Iâve previously seen is that thereâs a flavor of giggling that says âIâm hearing this for the first time, and I love it!â, and another that says âAh, thereâs the joke that I love,â and the two of them together are harmony. It feels like the emotional equivalent of this. I looked over at @snarke and @kmlawrence, saw the happiness on their faces, along with other Sea Monkeys and Monkey Adjacent friends in one small room, enjoying amazing music and being together. Whatâs better than that?
Singer/songwriter Seth Boyer loves riding, talking, and just thinking about motorcycles. Grab your leather pants and settle in for some âthrottle therapy!â Thanks, as always, to Molly Lewis for our theme music.

Who ya gonna share your cool-ass life with, you lonely sack of shit? You're sure you're better off alone. âYou got so much going for you. Self-pity don't look good on no oneâ least of all not you. So let's be realistic. Pour another Ketel One, and drink till you forget how good you are at reliving your regrets.
