Session 001
Session 001 took place on November 2nd, 2018.
In game we started on November 2nd, 2018 around 11pm in Powhatan Virginia. Aside from Tyrel you were all at a school-funded retreat to end school violence. You were all in the same cabin, chaperoned by Katherine. When she snuck out of the cabin she woke up Everett, who announced he was following her and you all left.
When you all found yourselves in the middle of the woods (along with Tyrel) before anyone could really find out what was going on you were witness to a dogfight between three alien spaceships. Only one ship survived and it crashed as you ran for shelter in an abandoned construction site.
The sleek, chrome ship opened and out stepped Tyrileon-Cabilliac-Jortii, an Andalite. She was fatally injured, but spent her last moments talking with you. She told you about the invasion of the Yeerks and how her race was fighting them all over the universe. She said her people had no idea there was a Yeerk pool ship so close to earth, which leads her to believe they are already on your planet in force.
She lamented not being able to help you or give you aid, and then quite suddenly realized she had one thing to offer you. Kilohana, Gil and Tyrel boarded her ship to find a small blue box. While on her ship they saw four holographic pictures (one of a very large alien space ship with a huge dome on top holding a whole meadow; one of Tyrileon pointing to a large field in the distance; one of Tyrileon and another Andalite locked in what appeared to be an embrace of some kind; and one of four Andalites three of whom seemed adult and the fourth which seemed very young and was missing a stalk eye).
Coming back to the group with the box, Tyrileon said she could give you all the power to morph any animal you could touch and acquire. She warned you that there were many rules she had no time to give you, but never stay in morph more than two hours. As you all accepted the gift, Tyrileon revealed she somehow knew Katherine and Kioshi’s names.
Warning you to run and hide as the enemy was coming, Tyrileon paused once more to address Kioshi. She pulled a small token off her spacesuit, handed it to him and told him to guard it with his life. Then, as she ordered you to do so, you ran and hid knowing you could not make it away in time. You were then forced to watch as more spaceships landed and Tyrileon faced your new foes.
She talked with you until the end, trying to prepare you for what you were now facing. She told you about the Taxxons, the Hork-Bajir and of your greatest foe: Visser Two. You watched helplessly as Visser Two morphed into some hideous creature. Fatally wounded Tyrileon managed to get to her hooves and charged into battle... Visser Two ripped her to shreds.
You had very little time to collect yourselves as your footprints were discovered by humans that seemed to be working with or under the control of the Yeerks. With fast thinking you acquired and then morphed a nest of barred owls nearby--with varying degrees of success--and took off towards the campground. Kioshi (who had the most trouble learning his wings) was thrown backwards as Tyrileon’s ship exploded. As the debris rained down Kioshi found one of the holographic images and hidden behind it was a picture of himself! He took both with him and rejoined the group.
As you tried to consider your best option to move forward, you saw groups of adults patrolling the area. The explosion from the ship awakened the campground and for a moment it was close to chaos with teens leaving their cabins and chaperones wondering what was going on.
Amidst all the commotion you were able to identify Tyrel’s boss from the Waffle House (Bob) and the principal at Monacan High as having been at the construction site...
The Trial of Blood, Part I
Three Heroes awoke in a dark dungeon:
Lia Galanodel, an Elf monk
Kosjmyrni, a Lizardfolk cleric
and Calm, a human barbarian.
They were greeted by the spectre of a masked man, who told them their memories had been stolen. A year of each of their lives, gone, taken by the masked man who taunted them from afar. He gloated that this was the punishment for their inquisitiveness. They had gone too far to learn who he was and what he was doing, down here beneath the surface of the world. Their year-long quest to unravel a conspiracy would end here, in the Trial of Blood.
It was simple. Stripped of their memories, provided with only the most basic equipment, they would contend against the deadly challenges of this dungeon. If they survived, they could go free. If they failed, they would join the ranks of gibbering madmen eating each other to survive in the bowels of the earth.
Though they remembered nothing of each other or their shared quest, they soon came to depend on each other. Beset on all sides by bloodthirsty cannibals and caught off-guard by poison dart traps and spinning saw blades, they managed to chop, bash, and sneak their way to the first safe zone.
Our heroes now huddle around a fire pit, bruised and battered but still alive and filled with determination to escape the Trial of Blood and return to the world above. They have learned from a barely-sane prisoner that the masked man is some kind of twisted “game master” and that he and his cronies are watching our heroes’ every move. Is this some kind of twisted sport to them?
Only time will tell...
Session 001 - 03 : :C
[001.3] Eurydice (GM): When you all arrive at the very top of the tower, you see a small study, almost completely trashed. A crumpled body sits by a pile of books, looking up in horror at a particularly tall shade. The shade has his back to you, and said back is hunched heavily, holding a few of the tattered books in his slim arms. Bifrons: [REGINALD!] Eurydice (GM): Roll awareness one more time. Braith: rolling 1d20 + 1 ( 9 )+1 = 10 Bifrons: rolling 1d20+3 ( 20 )+3 = 23 Misia: rolling 1d20 ( 20 ) = 20 Rufus: rolling 1d20 + 2 ( 16 )+2 = 18 Ravenuk: rolling 1d20 + 2 ( 12 )+2 = 14 Braith: [HELLS YEAH] Eurydice (GM): Congratulations, you get a surprise round, because none of you stepped on the tattered book right by the door! Roll initiative. Bifrons: rolling 1d20+1 ( 20 )+1 = 21 Ravenuk: rolling 1d20 + 2 ( 18 )+2 = 20 Braith: rolling 1d20 + 1 ( 17 )+1 = 18 Misia: rolling 1d20 + 1 ( 17 )+1 = 18 Bifrons: [All hail nat 20s!] Ravenuk: [yeah, yeah] Braith: So me and Misia go AT THE EXACT SAME TIME. :p (that was ooc.) (i forgot brackets) Eurydice (GM): (I'm assuming Rufus is sitting this one out?) Braith: (depends. How long did it take us to get up here?) (after a minute, he recovered.) Eurydice (GM): (This is kind of a big tower, so about five minutes.) Bifrons: [We weren't exaclty resting Braith: [true...] [I suppose he'll sit it out then.] [Still folows me, loyal fool] *whispering* Stay... Eurydice (GM): (There we go, he can sit on the stairs like a good boy :3) Alright, so you all get to go before your friend even rolls initative. Bifrons takes a deep breath... Bifrons: CHAAAAAAAAAAAARGE Bookeeper Reginald: [What the hell?!] Braith: [pfffft] Ravenuk facepalms, knowing our element of surprise just flew out the proverbial window] Braith does the same Bookeeper Reginald: (THANKS LEEROY) Braith: (GOD BLAST IT LEEROY) Bifrons: [NO REGRETS] Ravenuk: [Leeroy?] Braith: [you never heard of Leeroy Jenkins? O_O] Bookeeper Reginald: (You've never heard of LEEROOOOOOOOOOOOOY JENKIIIIIIIIIIIIINS?) Braith: [Bro, do you even internet?] Bookeeper Reginald: rolling 1d20 + ( 13 ) = 13 Ravenuk: [just not in the right circles, I guess] Bookeeper Reginald: (Good news, Reginald STILL goes last!) Misia: [Hooray!] Ravenuk: [good riddance] Braith: [hooray!] Bookeeper Reginald: (Archer go shooty shooty, your turn.) Braith: (wait, but chargy man didn't make his attack/) Bookeeper Reginald: (He moved 45 feet in one turn?) Braith: (Charging is a maneuver, he just takes -2 to his defense rolls) Bookeeper Reginald: (Wow, my DM was shit.) Braith: (but... you do have a point there.) (I don't know if charge allows for double move speed or not.) Bifrons: [Yeah, you can't move as far as I did and attack. Braith: (oh, nevermind then!) Bifrons: [I was banking on the surprise round/] Braith: (thinking for DnD and whatnot.) Go on archer man. Ravenuk takes aim at the man and lets loose an arrow Ravenuk: rolling 1d20 + 6 ( 9 )+6 = 15 [not the charging one, but who he's charging at] Bookeeper Reginald: (Guess what) rolling 1d20 + 8 ( 15 )+8 = 23 The Bookkeeper scatters, almost like a leaf in an autumn wind. Ravenuk: [FUCK!] Bifrons: [You don't need to roll that defense] [It's a static value.] [You only need to make a roll if you get hit.] Bookeeper Reginald: (Oh... I have no idea what value is a hit...) Bifrons: Well, anything less than 18 is a miss here. Braith: [in this case, since it's a ranged you use the dodge] [Wait, WHAT?!] Bookeeper Reginald: (Alright, thank you. -As I said, my previous DM wasn't too... explanitory-) Bifrons: [It's cool.] Bookeeper Reginald: (Yep, Good ol' Reginlad has a dodge of 8.) Bifrons: [Oh, do you have any music for this boss?] Bookeeper Reginald: (OH SHIT I ALMOST FORGOT) Braith: [Jesus. This feels like a meat grinder. TT_TT] Bifrons: [It's cool] [perfect] Bookeeper Reginald: (There we go, next victim please!) Braith: Well, that's me or Elizabeth We have the same score for initiative. Ravenuk: rock, paper, scissors, I guess Braith: (you wanna go first, Elizabeth?) Misia: [sure, I guess. Can't really do anything but move, I think.] Braith: (you could move twice?) Misia: [but reginald is scary '~'] Braith: (you're a melee? And if his dodge is an 8, unless he's twice our power level, his parry shouldn't be as high...) Bookeeper Reginald: (-Looks at the sheet-) (Yeah, I didn't make him THAT much higher than you guys.) (He's just got a couple stats that put the fear of god into the masses and looks that only a blind mother could love.) Bifrons: [Okay, that quote is going on Tumblr.] Bookeeper Reginald: (Achievement unlocked: Quotable Things!) Ravenuk: [hahahahahahahaha] Misia: Misia moves just a bit closer to Reginald, partially out of caution but mostly because of his face. Bookeeper Reginald: (Reggie loves you too.) Braith: We'll try to throw a knife... Or.. Ms. Dm, what do we have in this room that can be thrown? Bookeeper Reginald: (Books, chairs, random pens on the desk, debris, rocks) Braith: (I have the advantage that lets me throw anything, the damage being my rank in the advantage) (for now, same as my daggers: 1) (this may come into play if my daggers run out) rolling 1d20 + 5 ( 2 )+5 = 7 and first whiff. TT_TT Bookeeper Reginald: (Guess who's tuuuuurn?~) Reginald ignores his captive friend for now, instead turning his attention to the funny little shouting man. Ravenuk: [ownage] Bifrons: [this may hurt, we're looking at grappling.] Bookeeper Reginald: He moves to pick up Brifrons... rolling 1d20 + 4 ( 14 )+4 = 18 Bifrons: [Okay, now I make a check to resist his grab. WHat's his strength?] rolling 1d20+3 ( 3 )+3 = 6 [Oh yeah, he has me.] Bookeeper Reginald: (His strength is 2) Bifrons: [He has me then.] [I have indeed been grabbed. Bookeeper Reginald: He picks up the strange man, staring at him as if he were an oddity in a museum. Bifrons: I WILL CUT OFF YOUR GODDAMN ARMS! [I'm imobile, but he is at half speed while he has me. We both have half our defenses.] Braith: [who's next?] Ravenuk: [I think I am, but the initiatives were a while ago, and I don't feel up to oing through the history Bookeeper Reginald: (That's what the turn order menu is for) Braith: (no one's on it.) Bifrons: [It only has reginald Bookeeper Reginald: (...Huh?!) Braith: Oh, this happens to me. Bookeeper Reginald: (But I never took any of you OFF...) Misia: [It's Bifrons > Ravenuk > Misia/Braith > Reggie] Braith: Eury, the DM will have older turn orders,, but the players cant see it. You're going to have to delete the old ones and add them again manually Ravenuk: then I'll[ try to hit Reginald once again, I guess] Bookeeper Reginald: (Oh this is BS) Braith: (sorry. It is a pitfall I ran into too. :( ) Ravenuk: rolling 1d20 + 6 ( 20 )+6 = 26 Braith: DAYUM. Ravenuk: [nat 20. I think I hit him thatt ime] Bifrons: [Isn't it my turn? Bookeeper Reginald: (I thought you said you were immobalized?) Bifrons: [I can't move, but I can resist.] Ravenuk: [very well. BUT i REFUSE TO REROLL] Bookeeper Reginald: (Well, I fucked up then.) (...Dunno how to fix THIS mess.) Bifrons: [It [I'ts cool, I just say what I do, then we move on. give me a sec. rolling 1d20+3 ( 1 )+3 = 4 [Still bound.] [Now it's dave Ravenuk: [rolled a nat 20 to hit Reginald] Bookeeper Reginald: (And I won't make him reroll because this was my fuckup.) Rolling toughness because yes, that hit, and it hurt Bifrons: [bow damage is 2, right?] Bookeeper Reginald: rolling 1d20 + 2 ( 13 )+2 = 15 Bifrons: [Alright, one degree of failure, so he has one wound but no other effect. Future checks subtract his wounds from his roll, and it stacks. [Future toughness checks, that is.] Ravenuk: [yes, but I have 4 ranks in ranged combat, archery] Bifrons: [That effects hitting, not damage.] Ravenuk: then yes Braith: [just mark him with a red dot like Rufus.] [wooo dots] Bookeeper Reginald: (Your turn now) (Or...bah, whoever goes, I forget o-o) Braith: We technically go at the same time, so I don't think it matters. Gonna throw another knife, calling out to the girl: "Hey, get over here!" rolling 1d20 + 5 ( 1 )+5 = 6 HERO POINT I WILL NOT KEEP A 1! Bookeeper Reginald: (-snickering-) Braith: Which is why I'm burning the hero point. No way I'm letting you do crazy things with a nat 1 Bookeeper Reginald: (Alright, alright, go head) Braith: rolling 1d20 + 5 ( 1 )+5 = 6 Bookeeper Reginald: (*Ahead) Braith: O_O Bookeeper Reginald: (OH MY GOD) Misia: [wow] Braith: MOTHER FUCK THE DICE HATE ME. Bifrons: [HAHAHAHAHAHAHA] Bookeeper Reginald: (-HIDEOUS HYENA LAUGH-) Braith: WAIT WAIT RULES ONE SECOND Bifrons: [COWARD] Braith: There are rules for hero points and rerolling. My friend reminded me. Bookeeper Reginald: (It's still funny though.) Braith: One hero point allows you to re-roll any die roll you make and take the better of the two rolls. On a result of 1 through 10 on the second roll, add 10 to the result, an 11 or higher remains as-is (so the re-roll is always a result of 11-20). You must spend the hero point to improve a roll before the GM announces the outcome of your initial roll. You cannot spend Braith: hero points on die rolls made by the GM or other players without the Luck Control effect (see the Powers chapter). it's an 11 Or, technically, 16 Ravenuk: [brb] Bookeeper Reginald: (Alright, alright, fair enough. I won't go against the book just to antagonize you.) Braith: [PHEW] Bookeeper Reginald: (I'm a meanie pants, but not THAT much of one.) Bifrons: [You still miss] Braith: [Yes, but no nat 1] Bookeeper Reginald: (But at least she doesn't hit the hostage.) Braith: Okay, won't hyperventilate and die. Did the girl respond when I yelled to her? Bifrons: [Wait, just realised!] [Since grappling cuts both people active defenses in half, reginald has a dodge of four!] [It hit!] Ianthe: -Ianthe looks up, sure enough, but her leg is twisted at strange angles. She's not getting up.- Braith: I hit Reginald! :D Bifrons: [With a ranged weapon!] Misia: [:O] Bookeeper Reginald: (Oh snap, you hit the bugger!) Braith: [yaaay] [TT_TT] Bookeeper Reginald: Rolling toughness to see how much it hurts. rolling 1d20 + 1 ( 15 )+1 = 16 Braith: it hella made it. DC was an 11 I need better throwing things Bifrons: DC was 15, actually. Braith: oh it was? Bifrons: No wait, 16. Braith: Still made it on the nose. Bifrons: Still doesn't get hurt. Braith: BUGGER! Bookeeper Reginald: (So close, and yet so far.) Braith: WAIT It has a wound isn't that a -1 Bookeeper Reginald: (Yes, which mean his toughness roll was only +1 instead of +2...I think) (I'm leaving room for me to be wrong) Bifrons: [No, you're right I think.] Braith: [so it only rolled a 15?] Bifrons: 15+1 = 16 Braith: [oh.] [DERP] Bookeeper Reginald: (NEXT VICTIM!~) Braith: [DERP DERP DERP] Misia: [Maybe I can hit it and do damage! :D] rolling 1d20 + 2 ( 4 )+2 = 6 Oh, no. Nevermind Bookeeper Reginald: Nope, it does nothing. Reginald's turn! He moves to throw his victim into the bookshelf, disgusted by his foul language. rolling 1d20 + 2 ( 19 )+2 = 21 Bifrons: rolling 1d20+3 ( 5 )+3 = 8 [Ooooh] Bookeeper Reginald: ...And he goes flying! Teri G.: [also, sorry for freaking out so much about rules, it was a matter of accidentally hitting someone] Bookeeper Reginald: The bookshelf flutters in place, before several books come tumbling out. Most are as old and torn as the rest of them, however... Grimoire Greshat: WHO DISTURBS MY SLUMBER?! Grimoire Vert: Oh, will you be quiet?! Bifrons: Oh great, I'm dead... Braith: O_O The books are talking. [in character] Grimoire Udrin: We found the intelligence, it seems... Grimoire Vert: That wasn't funny. Braith: [Urdin.] .....Talking books, giant shades. What the crap! Is no one else noticing this?! Bifrons: I'm gonna wake up tomorrow in a lake of booze... Grimoire Udrin: If you wake up at all. Grimoire Greshat: Oh, will you quit your moaning?! Misia: Okaaay, so there may be 3 talking books with attitudes in the room but we still have a tiiiny problem to deal with here! Bookeeper Reginald: -Hi, I'm the tiny problem- Misia: [hi reggie] Grimoire Vert: Oh, that thing? What an annoyance! I'm certain at least one of us could squash him like a bug! Grimoire Udrin: If we felt like it... Bifrons: Bullshit. I dare you wrinkly bastards to try. Grimoire Greshat: Wrinkly?! Why, I should- Bookeeper Reginald: Regniald swats at the books, sending them to various places in the room. The books land close to three of the party members; but not before one of them accidentally hits Ianthe in the face. (She takes no damage) Braith: [pffft] Grimoire Greshat: Oh, now I'm annoyed! Braith looks at the book at her feet Braith: uh, help uh, help? Please? Bifrons: Goddamn old tomes... Grimoire Udrin: ...Oh, alright... I suppose this distraction has gone on long enough. Grimoire Greshat: WE SHALL SEAR ITS FLESH! Grimoire Vert: Don't think I didn't hear that remark... Bifrons: I like that ones spunk! Eurydice (GM): (The Grimoires join your party!) Bifrons points to Greshat Misia: Wait a minute, how exactly will said searing be done? I'm right beside it! Braith: We should avoid friendly fire! [TT_TT] Misia: [D:] Bifrons: [You're going to hell/] Grimoire Greshat: Details! Eurydice (GM): (I think we'll wait on a certain someone to come back before going any further) Scottsman L.: Who's that again? My brain is starting to fog over Eurydice (GM): (Dave) Bifrons: Ah. Ravenuk: [hmmm?] Eurydice (GM): (Oh good, you're back!) (You all got your grimoires... well, those who chose to have them, anyway.) (Yours is a violent bugger.) Ravenuk: [so I see] Eurydice (GM): (Now we can continue!) Bifrons: [I forget, who's turn is it? brain go mush] Braith: [Your's] Eurydice (GM): (Also, you don't need to make separate rolls for your books: They'll act with you, when you want them to. You command them just as if they were a part of you.) (Initiative rolls I mean) Bifrons: Time to cut up a sunuvabitch! rolling 1d20+2 ( 11 )+2 = 13 [what's his Parry?] Bookeeper Reginald: (5) Bifrons: [Damn, I miss] Braith: [This is gonna be hilarious because I have a burst... TT_TT] Bifrons: [oh god] Braith: [30 feet bursts are kinda big in this tiny room. O_O] Bookeeper Reginald: (...wHOOPS) Misia: [TT_TT] Bifrons: [this aint tiny] Braith: [Wellll, you guys are still cramped together. ^^;] Bookeeper Reginald: (The entire room is 90 feet accross) (30 feet is 1/3rds of the room XD) Bifrons: [That's a goddamn firestorm] Braith: I can barely clip him up there. Bifrons: [there is nowhere that won't hit one of us] Braith: [poop.] Bookeeper Reginald: (Dave, your turn?) Braith: [Right, Dave, do your thing] Bifrons: [I did. I missed] Braith: [David. Not you.] Bifrons: [Why the hell did I think I was dave?] Braith: [I don't know. O_O] Bifrons: [We may have to finish this before I conclude I'm the pope] Teri G.: [Dave? You okay man?] Ravenuk: [not really sure, but I'm alive] [head's starting to pound] Bookeeper Reginald: (I'd pause and let people rest, but that's hard in the middle of combat...) Teri G.: [You could turn down the music on your end?] Ravenuk: [anyways, taking my first arcane shot at this asswipe, I guess] [music's muted on my end, the only sound is my typing] Teri G.: [Eury cut it off] Bifrons: [He muted it long ago.] Teri G.: [Ah. Anyways, what's the resistance check for your magic?] Bifrons: [Maybe we should call it a night. It's getting pretty late.] [I think our players are more wounded then our characters.] Bookeeper Reginald: (I'm not sure how pausing in combat would work but at this rate we might very well have to.) David B.: [finish this combat first] [ROLLING TO HIT REGINALD] rolling 1d20 + 6 ( 1 )+6 = 7 FUUUCK!!! Bifrons: [Pffffffft] Teri G.: You don't have to roll to hit, I don't think? Does the power say you have to? Bifrons: [What is the power?] David B.: [sorry, all sound's seems to be muted] Ravenuk: [power's that of Raven from Teen Titans, so shadow powers, I'd guess] Teri G.: [No, what's it officially called in teh book?] Bifrons: [Uhg, I think I may need to bow out. I have school in the morning and I feel like death. You can just say Bifrons got knocked out when he hit the shelf] Eurydice (GM): (Aww, alright) Teri G.: [Well, if we REALLY have to call it quits, we can double check the chat in this game to know what's going on.] Ravenuk: [in the book it's labeled blast, I think] David B.: [and I agree] Teri G.: [Did you write down what it was called in your sheet?] David B.: [that's what I have written, "blast"] [I have flight, blast and teleport typed on the sheet] Teri G.: [Did you pull blast from a side book? I'm just finding it in a fire blast form in Fire Powers.] David B.: I was basing the powers off of Raven, her powers were shadow powers Teri G.: WAIT, found it. It's ranged damage power. You DO make a ranged attack check. David B.: what does the book say? Teri G.: You make a ranged attack check against the target’s Dodge defense. The attack’s damage equals your power rank and the target makes a Toughness resistance check against it. David B.: {and if any fox references are mentioned, I'll singe the hair off of the head that does it} Teri G.: Okay, when this wraps up, you and I need to go over your sheet. When you list a power you gotta list it's construction And, with your previous roll, I dare say that's a bust. Apologies for taking so much time on that. :/ Grimoire Greshat: Erm... [grumble grumble] Braith: So what do you do, book? Grimoire Udrin: Oh, you know. Tear the fabric of reality asunder and make even the mightiest of lords beg for mercy... or death. All before lunch, usually. David B.: I'm willing to say that we have indeed wrapped up for the night Braith: Well, we can leave this note: It is now Mine or Elizabeth's turn. We have books. Is that alright, Uery? oh wow typing. @_@ Eurydice (GM): (Of course.) (I'll make a small thing detailing where, exactly, we left off.) Braith: kk Elise T.: (It turns out that I forgot about an advantage or two so I need to go recrunch my numbers) (So a few things may be +/- 1 next time) Eurydice (GM): (Alright, wrote down everything I needed to.) (You all have a good evening now!) Elise T.: (G'night everyone) Braith: night. Scottsman L.: Gotta love Nier Music. Eurydice (GM): I've said it once and I'll say it again: The soundtrack could bring a nun to orgams. *orgasm [That awkward moment where I remember one of you knows me irl] David B. shrugs and reminds the GM that it's fine
Session 001 - 02: (baaah)
NORTHERN PLAINS Braith: Wait, who brought the sheep up here? Sheep: Baaaaaaa. :I Braith: I sure as hell didn't. Bifrons: Probably wild ones. Ravenuk: Not I. Bifrons: Things pack a hell of a kick. Braith: Eh, if you leave em alone, they leave you alone. David B.: -bleats like a sheep- Braith: ....Oh boy. There are a lot of sheep happily trotting away in the norther field. To your north, in the center of the large field, is a large, rumbling tower, which they all take great care to avoid. Bifrons: Let's see, giant tower, scares sheep shitless, this sounds like our place. Ravenuk look at Bifrons as if he'd lost his mind. Braith: Meh, they look pretty calm. They know that tower is bad news. Animals know bout this sort of thing. Ravenuk: You sure do have a way with words. Bifrons: I speak fluent bullshit too. Ravenuk rolls his head back with uproariously loud laughter. Some of the sheep run in the opposite direction. Braith: Well, you are obviously scarier than the tower. XD Ravenuk: [loling really hard irl, btw] Misia: Well then... we should probably get going. We're not getting any younger, after all. The tower proper is mostly boarded up, but the large front doors are wide open. It smells like mold and mildew within. Proceed inside? Braith: (also, DM, doggie has Fearless, but how does he feel bout this place?) Bifrons: Well, time to do something stupid. Come on guys. Ravenuk: After you fearless leader. Sheep: (Have the dog roll an awareness check)
Rufus: awareness check - 1d20 + 2 result: 2 + 2 = 4
Ravenuk: [make sure his paws don't drop the dice] Braith: WELP. He can smell stuff, if it helps? Eurydice (GM): Your poor dog is probaby unlikely to go inside, but he grows viciously at the door. Braith: (He is fearless...) Eurydice (GM): (I admit I forget what that DOES) Braith: (You are immune to fear effects) Eurydice (GM): Then he runs inside after a few seconds of growling. Ravenuk: It seems our party will be one less head for this trip. Unless we want to force the dog to go too. Or not Bifrons: Spoke to soon archy. Braith: Good boy. :3
OLD TOWER - FIRST FLOOR Sure enough, four shades lay within. Braith: AH SHIT Bifrons: Oooh, been waiting to test this thing out! Ravenuk: Ugh! stairs, Why'd there have to be stairs?.....but then there's the shades. Bifrons readies his chainsaw. Ravenuk notches an arrow. Braith gets a knife out. Shade: (ROLL INITIATIVE, BITCH)
Braith: initiative roll - 1d20 + 1 result: 9 + 1 = 10 Bifrons: initiative roll - 1d20 + 1 result: 14 + 1 = 15 Misia: initiative roll - 1d20 result: 12 = 12 Ravenuk: initiative roll - 1d20 + 2 result: 2 + 2 = 4
Braith: (for all intents and purposes, Side kicks go with their "hero") Ravenuk: [-faceplants into nearest wall]
Shade 1: initiative roll - 1d20 result: 19 = 19 Shade 2: initiative roll - 1d20 result: 7 = 7 Shade 3: initiative roll - 1d20 result: 8 = 8 Shade 4: initiative roll - 1d20 result: 18 = 18
Braith: O_O Bifrons: [wouldn [wouldn't it be better to have the shades all go at once?] Braith: [I roll collectively, personally, but Eury could do whichever?] Ravenuk: either way, the archer's going last Braith: Rufus goes on my turn, so he's whenever. Bifrons: [love this music] Shade: (Urg, I'm entering the numbers but it's not sorting them by turn) Braith: Go to the blue gear. Shade: (This is 'Organ Grinder' by Emilie Autumn btw) (Annnd there we are!) Braith: There you go! :( :) damn typose. Ravenuk: [I'm sitting here listening to fiddle&Gaelic bitches :P >:)] Shade: (...I admit I don't know how movement works in this game because our DM just completely ignored that part) Braith: (one moment. I have my PDF open right now.) Bifrons: [we move 30 ft by default, get one move action one standard action] Braith: [Isn't that DnD?] Bifrons: [we can use standard action to move again] [I checked the M&M rules a little while back. Shade: (Alright, sorry) Braith: Each square is 5 ft, generally. Bifrons: [It's cool/] Braith: Unless a DM makes a different scale, if that helps. The little ruler on the left is used for that. Shade: Since the shades are so far away, they're taking some time running up to you... Bifrons: BOO Shade: Shades do not feel fear. Bifrons swings his chainsaw. Shade: (Okay yes they do) Braith: (hee hee) Shade: (They REALLY don't talk though) Bifrons: rolling 1d20+2 ( 9 )+2 = 11 [Do I hit?] Braith: [Depends on their parry.] [Eury, it's parry + 10] [in this case anyways] Bifrons: [We're looking up the numbers.] Braith: [ah, kk] Shade: (That would make theirs... 13.) Ravenuk: [how do I roll for a bow in this game? probably should've asked earlier, but I was a bit distracted] Bifrons: 1d20+dex for your ranged Shade: -The shade simply steps out of the way BECAUSE YOU WERE TOO DAMN FLASHY- Braith: No, it's ranged combat. Ravenuk: [or more importantly, how do I put it on my sheet?] Braith: Which uses dex, and skill points. Bifrons: [Well yes, but you don't need to put points in ranged.] [I have no points in melee, just a good fighting skill] Ravenuk: [in that case, it'll be a d20+6] Braith: [It's still the base roll, generally.] Bifrons: [i mean abilitiy Braith: [no, fighting is for close combat. ] Bifrons: Yeah, that [that's what I'm talking about [fighting for close, dex for ranged] [now, back to murder!] Ravenuk: [brb] [need foodage] Misia Misia bring out her dagger and aims for the shade Misia: [...whoa, anyway] rolling 1d20 + 2 ( 4 )+2 = 6 ._. Shade: -The shade DOES A BARREL ROLL. Actually, no, it just moves.- Bifrons: Damn things are to jumpy! Rufus: Rufus rolls to bite rolling 1d20 + 5 ( 2 )+5 = 7 DAMMIT Shade: -These are skittish shades, apparently- Braith throws a knife at the shade Braith: (1 of the 4 I had.) Bifrons: It's like fighting smoke! Braith: rolling 1d20 + 5 ( 14 )+5 = 19 FUCK YEAH Shade: -And one unfortunate shade just took a knife to the eyeball- Misia: ...or not. That shade seems pretty solid. Braith: The damage for the knife is 1 unfortunately. Bifrons: Well, maybe we just suck. Braith: Our dice hate us at the moment. Bifrons: [shade rolls toughness, needs to get more than 11] Ravenuk: [I see it as getting the bad rolls out of the way early] Shade: rolling 1d20 ( 5 ) = 5 Nope, that shade totally just got a knife to the eye. Braith: [Shade had no toughness? :o] [wow...] Shade: (Nope) Braith: :D Shade: (These are the unarmored buggers) Braith: I will take the rest of my move to cower behind that statue. Shade: Needless to say that one shade drops like a stone. Braith: I only moved 15 feet at first. :o Ravenuk: weak buggers] Bifrons: [you got move by action?] Shade: Shade 3 rolling to attack Teri G.: closed my tab by accident. TT_TT Shade: rolling 1d20 + 2 ( 11 )+2 = 13 Bifrons: [aiming at who?] Shade: The shade attacks the man with the chainsaw, seeing it as a bigger threat -Even if he is a flashy bastard- Bifrons: [ouch, that hit. What's there strength?] Shade: (1) Bifrons: rolling 1d20+5 ( 6 )+5 = 11 [I just avoid taking a wound. Teri G.: :D Shade: Shade four... who is now shade three thanks to his friend dropping dead... is now moving to attack Rufus! Teri G.: :o Shade: rolling 1d20 + 2 ( 12 )+2 = 14 Teri G.: rolling 1d20 + 4 ( 2 )+4 = 6 :( Shade: (THAT SHADE IS AN ASSHOLE) Teri G.: (the dice roller hates me. TT_TT) So he hurts Rufus. I'm trying to remember what the wound penalties are. Shade: (While you do that, it is Ravenuk's turn) Ravenuk: [what's therange on a bow? I've been looking, and I can't find one] Bifrons: [I think those shades are in range [Oh, and it looks like Rufus is dazed. Ravenuk: in that case, I'll see if I can reduce our opposing numbers rolling 1d20 + 6 ( 20 )+6 = 26 BLOODY HELL!! Shade: (THAT'S GONNA STING!) Bifrons: [Also, turns out I didn't quite make that check earlier, so I take a wound] Shade: rolling 1d20 + 3 ( 18 )+3 = 21 The shade makes a valiant effort to haul ass... but falls flat and gets an arrow to the face for his troubles. Bifrons: [Luckily I only failed by one degree, so I just take a penalty to future damage checks] Shade: (Which shade did you target?) Ravenuk: the one attacking rufus Teri G.: [wait, how did you determine that Bifrons?] Bifrons: [page 104. All attacks really count as damage.] Shade: Now you're down to Tweedledumb and Tweedledumbass. Shade one rolling to attack Misia rolling 1d20 + 2 ( 2 )+2 = 4 Ravenuk: [do they have to make a will check for morality after their 2 friends drop like flies?] Teri G.: [so if the attack was a 14 and Rufus Rolles a 6.... ] Bifrons: [no] Ravenuk: [worth a shot] Bifrons: [the damage was 2] [attacker rolls to hit, defender rolls to avoid injury] Teri G.: [So rufus has two wounds?] Shade: Shade one completely fails to hit anything. Bifrons: Not quite. [15+2 = 17] [17-6=11] [so he suffered two degrees of faliure, and thus, he is dazed/] Teri G.: [so for this turn he's dazed?] Bifrons: [actually, might have suffered three. [so He's staggered.] [Shit, that dog got hit hard] Teri G.: [Damn... :(] Rufus: *Whimpers* Bifrons: [and he has 1 wound. Just put that in like the red circle to keep track of it.] [Anyway, it's my turn.] NOT COOL, JACKASS! rolling 1d20+2 ( 14 )+2 = 16 [Whelp, that hit.] Ravenuk: [who was that comment targeted towards?] Bifrons: [the shade] Shade: Shade two rolling to parry (This is more so I don't forget which shade is which...) rolling 1d20 + 3 ( 9 )+3 = 12 Nope, he's down. Bifrons: [no, they don't roll parry. They roll toughness. [course, he [he'd have to beat 21] Shade: (It still wouldn't failed because the shades have 0 toughness) Bifrons: [yup] Shade: (would have, not wouldn't) One shade left, and he doesn't look nervous at all. Misia: [move by action = I could try and attack, and then move, yes?] Bifrons: COME AT ME BITCH! [yeah] Misia: [or any combination of as long as I haven't moved more than 30 feet total?] [mkay] Misia turns her attention toward the one remaining shade, and slashes at it. rolling 1d20 + 2 ( 19 )+2 = 21 Rufus: DAYUM. Bifrons: [That's definately a hit.] [what's your damage?] Misia: [I believe it's 2?] Bifrons: [So shade rolls toughness, needs to beat 17] Shade: rolling 1d20 + ( 8 ) = 8 Nope, he's dead. Bifrons: Well, that was interesting. Braith once the combat ends, Braith runs to her dog, hugging him. Braith: Rufus! D': Braith also picks up thrown knife from shade. Bifrons: Well, glad to see nobody's dead. Ravenuk goes over to the shade he shot and yanks the arrow out Ravenuk: so, what now? those weren't so tough Bifrons: Guess we go up. Ravenuk places the arrow in the quiver Eurydice (GM): [You hear strange scraping coming from high above] Bifrons: Oh well that totally isn't ominous. Braith: Oh hell, what now? :( Ravenuk looks at the roof Braith looks distinctly less cheerful than earlier. Apparently. hasn't seen a Shade hit quite that hard before. Eurydice (GM): Everyone roll awareness. Bifrons: rolling 1d20+3 ( 20 )+3 = 23 Braith: rolling 1d20 + 1 ( 9 )+1 = 10 Ravenuk grabs the arrow and nocks it again, ready to fire upon any enemies, as he keeps scanning the roof Misia: rolling 1d20 ( 2 ) = 2 Bifrons: [eyes of a goddamn hawk] Ravenuk: rolling 1d20 + 2 ( 20 )+2 = 22 Rufus: rolling 1d20 + 2 ( 1 )+2 = 3 Ravenuk: two in a row Teri G.: Well, that hit must have dazzled the poor dog. David B.: poor thing Teri G.: I think I saw something about damage recovery, but I have to double check it. Eurydice (GM): Ravenuk and Brifrons, for certain, hear things being shuffled about and possibly a whimper, you can't tell. Everyone else just hears general movement noises. Bifrons: [remove one damage condition per minute of rest.] Ravenuk: what's shuffling around? I can't see anything Bifrons: I heard whimpering. Teri G.: [So after a couple minutes, he'll be okay. ;D] Braith: You sure that ain't Rufus? Not that I can't blame him. :( Bifrons: I would like to change my vote on Ianthe from dead to alive. Ravenuk points to the roof Braith hugs doggie Ravenuk: is you r dog up there? Braith: [he attacked a shade from there?] no... [misread] Bifrons: Then it aint your damn dog. Ravenuk: couldn't have said it better myself Braith noticably cowed. Braith: *is noticeably cowed.* Bifrons: [Sorry Bifrons is such an asshole. He doesn't really get along with people] Braith: [oh it's fine. :)] Ravenuk: [loner, natrually ain't a people person] Eurydice (GM): (I totally forgot to do the upper floor map apparently, but I fixed that and it exists now.) Ravenuk: [lol] Bifrons: [Yay!] Braith: [Braith is more a people person. Still, it's a bit upsetting when your dog almost gets onshotted.] Ianthe: [Heavily muffled] GET AWAY! Bifrons: Well fuck, that's our cue! Misia: I can't really hear much from up there, but I'll take your word for it. Ravenuk runs up the staris Bifrons charges. Ravenuk: *stairs

Session 001 - 01: Humanity hasn't truly LIVED as long as anyone around remembers. We're just... surviving, that's all. And the Shades... they're making it difficult. As if their sheer numbers weren't bad enough, they've started getting... smarter, as well. It's strange... what few people still remain in this village are getting nervous. Everyone's afraid. Well, almost... I'm not sure Markeus isn't 'sampling' his own supplies... But that's not relevant. One of our own went missing recently... I'll have to ask someone to find her. Every head counts in a village this small... Damn.
TINY VILLAGE - NAME UNKNOWN Observers will note that three of the 'bigger' names in this tiny village are outdoors today; despite being sunny, if you look up, you will see no sun. There hasn't been one in ages. Dolo is out tending to his plants and herbs, Markeus is out in his outdoor stall, and Alice can be seen pacing in front of what passes as a town hall. Braith – Expertise: Survivalist check for prior goods to trade rolling 1d20 + 2 – result: 6 + 2 = 8
Bifrons quickly spot checks his appearance, test his breath, stuff like that, before approaching Alice. Alice: -The village leader is so focused on her own shoes that she doesn't notice you at first. You can hear her mumbling quietly to herself- Bifrons: Ah, Alice, so nice to see you. Do you, uh, have any work I can do for you? Braith walks back from the direction of the fields, looking disappointed in the lacking supplies. This aint new. Alice: -The young woman jumps almost a foot in the air, but is quick to compose herself once more, adopting a charming smile- ...Actually... yes, I think I have something you could do, if you're interested. Bifrons: I am always interested in what you have to say, Alice. Braith gives Alice a dejected wave. Braith: Lo Alice. Ravenuk walks back to his hut from the direction of the woods, a permanent frown plastered to his face, no game, nothing new Alice: [Alice waves back] Hello!... You know what? Braith, come over here. You might be interested in listening to this as well. Braith: Well, I'm always happy to do whatever is useful, Alice. :) Alice: Thank you both... Listen, do you remember my niece, Ianthe? She runs the fish market... and we haven't seen her in three days. Braith frowns in concern. Braith: She's been gone for that long? Braith hits Birfons' shoulder Braith: SHH! Alice: ...[Throat clearing] Anyway... She told us she was going to scavenge the old tower in the northern fields for supplies. That's.. the last time anyone's seen her, really. Misia, upon noticing the crowd around Alice, wanders over. Misia: Is there anything I can help with? I mean, you all look rather... worried about something. Alice: The more, the better, as far as I'm concerned. I was basically telling them about Ianthe... we haven't seen her in days, and I KNOW she made plans to go to the old tower in the field. I'd go myself, but my leg isn't what it used to be. Braith flexes an arm. Bifrons: I've been meaning to hit that place for supplies. Braith: it's what us young folks are for, right? Alice: ...I'm not THAT old. Ravenuk sighs, gets up and walks towards the obvious meeting reluctantly, grabbing his arrows and bow before leaving. Braith: Anyways, checking the north fields wouldn't be a bad idea in general. it's been a while since I've taken the sheep up there. Need to check to see if something nastier than the usual shades are lurking about, you know? Ravenuk: What's going on? If another bow is helpful, I guess I can help. Bifrons: Seems you've got a raiding party, Alice. Braith turns to Rufus. Braith: Wanna come along boy? Ravenuk: Wait a sec, raiding party? Rufus: *enthusiastic bark* Bifrons: We're hitting the northern tower like a sledgehammer. Alice: Just be careful... that place is falling apart. Bifrons: Alice's niece is missing. Ravenuk raises an eyebrow. Braith: Alice's niece has gone missing, and we're gonna find her. Ravenuk: We’ll see. Bifrons: Yeah, that's why I've stayed away. Alice: I wouldn't ask anyone to go there normally, but ... you know. Braith: Hey, it's no problem Alice. :) We're supposed to help each other. Ravenuk looks around. Alice: Thank you thank you THANK YOU... While normally I'd tell you to take your time, the sooner the better. If she really is injured, she needs help. Braith: Of course, Alice. Now, aside from her going missing, you know anything else about the Northern Plains lately? Alice: Only the shades, but that's about it. Ravenuk: How many, any idea? Braith: The usual, I'd guess. Anyone else run up there often? Bifrons: Probably crawling with them these days. Ravenuk: Greeeeeat. Bifrons: Bastards are getting bold. Ravenuk rolls his eyes. Misia: It's a good thing there are so many of us, then. Bifrons: What's a matter archer, scared of the dark? Ravenuk glares at Bifrons. Ravenuk: Why should I be? Besides the shades, that is. Braith: Guys, fighting among one another is gonna get us nowhere. -_- Ravenuk: Yeah, I know. Misia: Exactly! ... Let's be on our way to the plains while you bicker, at least, instead of standing here. Alice: Good luck! ...And be careful, that place is falling apart. Ravenuk: Do we have anyone with us that knows the way? Bifrons raises his hand. Braith: [Expertise Shepard?] Ravenuk points at Bifrons. Ravenuk: Then you're the lead. Braith: [Alternatively, survivalist.] Braith - Expertise: Survivalist check for knowledge about the old tower in the Northern Plains rolling 1d20 + 3 - result 10 + 3 = 13 [I might know something! :D] (You know that the tower can quite clearly be seen from just outside the village.) Braith: (not very much to know then. ^^;) Eurydice (GM): (I was trying to tell you guys this earlier... ^-^; ) Ravenuk: [oh lol] Bifrons: [I figure Bifrons at least checked on the place once, turned back when he saw how badly it was falling apart/] Braith: [sowwy. Knowledge monkey gonna try to knowledge at it. :P] Ravenuk: [-groans- not this again] Eurydice (GM): (With SCIENCE?) Ravenuk: ][she got it] Misia: (Science?) Eurydice (GM): (In another group I'm in, one of the mages tries to science at everything. With Science. BECAUSE science.) Ravenuk: [irl eurydice and I are in a game where a mage "sciences' at something] Eurydice (GM): (I call his character 'Bill Nye the science mage') Braith: [Ah... Also, one other thing, Eury. I got a memory that doesn't let me forget ANYTHING, in character] [I will remember the way back. Hopefully. :P] [if we come back alive.] Eurydice (GM): (The village isn't TERRIBLY FAR from this place guys. XD) Ravenuk hefts his bow, getting a good grip on it and settles the quiver on his back. Ravenuk: [ready] Bifrons: [Bifrons is good.] Misia: [good here, as well] Braith: [aside from MOAR KNIVES, I'm good.] Ravenuk: [btw, which way's north on the map?] Eurydice (GM): (Up) Bifrons: [up] Ravenuk: [just checking] Eurydice (GM): (Unless I was a dick, then it'd be down.) (But I'm not so it's up.) Ravenuk: [or right] Eurydice (GM): (Alright, proceeding north *Unless you want to RP the knife-buying*)
