SCAD career fair is one of the biggest events that happens at SCAD throughout the year. This year there were lot of companies visited SCAD to offer information about job opportunities as well as internship opportunities for students still working on the degree. However there were some service opportunities that could be improved next year.
I used the tool we learned in class, gap analysis to show the student complaints from this year’s career fair.
Here is the explanation for the chart.
1. Lot of people were complaining about the way company names were organized. It was difficult to understand
2. Line up system wasn’t working very well. Since it was lacking the assistance, some students were unintentionally cutting the line, making other students feel frustrated.
3. Also sometimes students had to wait longer than they expected because there was no time limit to how long you can talk
4. For international students, they wouldn’t find out that the company is not looking for internationals until they already have spent too much time talking to them.
5. Even though they have listed certain majors in the sheet, some companies were not looking for that major for the coming internship. Students would also find out about it after talking to them for too long.
I have learned how gap analysis is such an important part in service design. Just by listing these, I was able to see all the problem at a glance. Hopefully the career fair will be executed even better next year.
