serumbowl is like the meaning of life, an eternal question to always be discussed, and never answered... whom would you had chosen? do you think, if Erwin's arm had not moved, he would have had received the serum? (sorry for the "grammar", English tenses are complicated. esl. thank you!)
I kinda love that almost every fandom has its own eternal "unanswered question". In my previous Age of Sail fandom it's "Who pushed Captain Sawyer into the hold?". In Black Sails it's "What happens to Flint at the end? Is he alive or dead? Is it a dream, a story, a story within a story? What the hell??" In LOTR it's "Do balrogs have wings?" lol. And in SnK it's the serumbowl aka "Who should have got the serum, Erwin or Armin?"
You asked who I would have chosen, which is an easy question to answer. I would have made the same choice as Levi. I would have chosen Erwin.
As for your second question, if Erwin hadn't lost his arm, would Levi have given him the serum? No, I don't believe he would have. Admittedly, the loss of Erwin's arm is one of the reasons Levi gives for Erwin to stay behind and let Hanji lead the mission to Shiganshina, however that's not the reason he chose not to give him the serum. Levi's choice on the roof top had nothing to do with the fact that Erwin had lost his arm, and everything to do with with his personal belief that he should be allowed to rest, rather than be dragged back to the hell of the world.

Regarding the serumbowl event, I believe Erwin was the best choice. He's more experienced and would've been able to keep the military together. I think it was even stated by Isayama that Erwin could've solved a lot of issues. I see a lot of people think that Erwin gave up on his dreams to die and free himself from the burden. Which is true, but the fact that his last words were regarding that dream shows that he cares about it even when he's near dying. I don't think he was refusing to take the serum. Levi chose not to give him because he didn’t want Erwin to carry on the burden anymore. That dream was a curse for Erwin. I do think the difference between how Armin dreams and Erwin dreams played a factor into Levi's decisions. Armin represented human curiosity, youthfulness and ability to see beauty outside the walls. However, I doubt that was a huge factor in choosing him. They still put mental burden on Armin.
Armin wasn’t the best choice. That's the fun. There wouldn’t be drama if the perfect choice happened. Armin could've represented the "Special for just being born" ideology in his character conclusion, although the story made him a hypocritic hero. He saw beauty in life because of running behind two people. Mind you, a heavy part of his insecurities stemmefd from not being enough for Eren and Mikasa, and being their burden. So I feel like it was a cheap way to end his character.
rewatching aot and am heartbroken during the serumbowl because Mikasa and Eren being emotional was bringing Armin back while Levi being emotional was letting Erwin rest.

How do you think the story would play out if Erwin became the colossal titan and not Armin? My friend thought Erwin should've lived and not Armin, and quilted the show when he died.

Hey! I was wondering what you think of the serum bowel incident? Some believe Levi chose Armin because he only wanted Erwin rest while others say he both wanted to let Erwin go and remembered Armin as his dream was to save humanity.
I think it was both. Isayama made it a point to show Levi thinking about the talk he heard among EMA and remembering Armin's shiny eyes when he thought about his decision. Erwin's dream stopped at the basement and he was Not sure what himself would do, while Armin's extended Beyond just seeing the ocean. I think Levi took that into account when he made his choice.
I do not want Levi to kill Zeke, and I don’t even like Zeke. Zeke is an awesome and super interesting character, but I just don’t have a lot of love for the guy. Still, I do not want Levi to fulfill his promise to Erwin. I don’t even want him to try anymore. That would actually be hugely disappointing to me, and not just because making a third attempt on Zeke’s life, swinging at that third pitch, carries the risk of him striking out. What I want for him instead is to finally do some reflection on the fact that when Kenny said everyone was a slave to something, maybe that included Levi. I want him to take a moment to think about himself being drunk on this promise and how he is letting that affect his choices. Just as he chose to free Erwin from the burden of his dream and his guilt over the things he did in pursuit of it, I hope he chooses freedom for himself. Preferably not freedom in death.
For as impactful as Levi’s last moments with Kenny were for him, I don’t think he’s given enough thought to Kenny’s dying words quite yet.
