Sergeant Reckless
A war horse challenge a race horse to a race, based on my findings of these two respectively yet there was a connection other than being 2 years and a whole as continent apart (there's surprisingly so many little hidden details about horse history).
Yes, there is a connection between Sergeant Reckless and Native Dancer, though it's more of a humorous one than a direct relationship. During the Korean War, Marines challenged the famous racehorse Native Dancer to a "Paddy Derby" race against Sergeant Reckless, their war horse.
A Destiny that was cut short [TW: War implication]
A certain Mongolian umamusume (or horse girl?) named Ah-Chim-Hai or "Flame of the Morning" was intended to have a racing career in Korea but then the war broke out and she instead enlisted to the army, for her bravery she was nickname Reckless and became a sergeant.
In my Uma Musume au (still in a working progress) is that she changed her name into that but still responded to her original name by family and close friends also the whole of Korea. Despite not having a racing career she wanted she didn't regret about joining the army(?) but she sometimes challenged a certain Gray Ghost to a race despite both retired.
