Lucifer dies in the machine and even though he was cast out of heaven centuries ago, his pillar shatters and collapses in the clouds. The very foundation of heaven rattles and threatens to give way and Fall. It doesn't. There's still 9 other pillars, but there's damage unlike anything paradise has seen before. An earthquake. In heaven. Unheard of.
The shield around Heaven was broken and then, later, much later, so suddenly, the ground exploded. Winners die, but they regenerate just the same as sinners(maybe at least one casually falls on a spear, stroke of unluck). NO ONE knows what happened until a little later. When the dust settles and the song ends, Vaggi tells Charlie where Lucifer is and they can get him now. Maybe he hangs limp, maybe the hold released(like I assume it for some reason did in cannon🤷)and he's crumbled in the cradle of glass. It's worse than Vaggi thought, he was cracking jokes and moving just a while ago. Charlie did not know this and sees his bloody clothes and smoking remains. Maybe twitching with remedial aftershocks, giving her hope. He gets pulled out of the chamber and they can't get a response out of him. Can't find a pulse and Charlie is freaking out more and more the longer nothing changes. Vaggi is freaking out more and more with every desperate shake to his body and looking into his hooded eyes.
They more crawl out of the ground than burst forth like they want, but they pray all the same. "Heaven please, Heaven LOOK, Heaven HELP US!" Pent is on the screen and Charlie wishes she could be happier to see him but she might be holding her dad's burned corpse. "EMILY, CAN YOU HELP?! DO SOMETHING! PLEASE! I know you're hurt and drained but PLEASE!"
"I-i can't. I don't-I don't have that kind of power! 😲😨😢"
"SERA! SERA HEAR ME, PLEASE! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, SOMETHING! ANYTHING! HELP HIM! He's not heavens anymore but he has holy blood! HE'S HOLY! SAVE HIM!!! SERA!!!"
Sera is in front of the screen now, she started looking when she heard screaming again and has watched as Luce dangled from Charlie's hold, limbs swinging limply, dead. This is why Heaven cracked, this is why the clouds rumbled. She should have realized when Lucifer's pillar exploded/she should have checked the pillars when the quake happened but there was so much to fix and winners to calm down all over again(I had the visual of a physical pillar exploding in Heaven in like a really fancy church with stained glass windows and even like the window depicting Luce shattered and rained down and I couldn't get it out of my head). Lucifer died, and he died a while ago. He died and he still raised the foundations of Heaven. He has always been one of them, he never stopped. Until now.
[This is where the story splits into two scenarios]
Sera and Heaven work quickly to heal and restore him, most likely needing to bring together the other pillars to even try. I don't know how, and I don't like it, but the only way I can think of them bringing him back to life would be to...make him an angel again. MOST are not happy about this. Lilith has to hide as hell in Heaven because her husband FUCKING DIED and holy shit how is she supposed to face him and Charlie after what they BOTH went through, Charlie thought she was going to lose her only parent left, Lucifer FUCKING DIED and she's supposed to show her face after THAT?! Nuhuh, she canNOT handle those conversations NOW. Luce and Char are pulled apart again, Luce doesn't Know how to be in Heaven again. Everyone in Heaven is like, "Holy shit The Devil from The Bible is fucking up here now? The infamously FALLEN ANGEL? BEING UNFALLEN? WHAT THE FUCK IS EVEN HAPPENING ANYMORE?!" It is AWKWARD AS FUCK UP THERE, IT'S UNBEARABLE. Hell doesn't have a king anymore, no matter how little he did there's a power vacuum now because No One respects Queen Charlotte. She doesn't know how to run this At All, she has the hotel. Between the sinners and hellborn she is lost from the sheer magnitude of things her dad was supposed to do. It's crazy fucking everywhere. The Sins don't have their king anymore, no matter how long it's been since he talked to any of them. EVERYTHING has shifted off it's axis and the only bandaid on it is the fact that Heaven's foundations healed and Lucifer survived. Idk if Heaven would keep him from going to Hell, it's all he's known since his fall, but they wouldn't force him to fall again and he wouldn't want to. Because even though the machine killed him, the fall was the worst thing he's ever experienced. But they certainly wouldn't let him, a newly risen ANGEL, live in HELL. Maybe he can visit like Emily, but staying too long and too often is out of the question. Idk how any of that would resolve or settle down. It's bureaucracy chaos. Maybe Luce does try to fall on purpose eventually, either by getting on everyone's nerves or trying to jump, maybe both, maybe after he comes across Lilith and decides, well, Both of Charlie's parents can't be in Heaven. And he jumps. Maybe it doesn't work and he ends up in the clouds again like a safety feature and then he tries to rile up Heaven, but it's changed and his way of thinking isn't actually that crazy and feather clutching as before so they have no reason to fell and punish him again.
Lucifer stays dead as hell and now it's about wading through grief while trying to hold and bring everything back together without the bandaid of Lucifer surving. Heaven has a harder time cleaning up and the angels that knew him are grieving with mixed feelings between them. Charlie is visibly not holding it together, Vaggi is giltridden about not being able to get him out as is Sera, now knowing that even while so far away from Heaven a big enough peice of him stayed in Heaven and held up the very ground she walked on. Hell doesn't care about it's king but the Sins are in varying degrees of pissed and grieving, all directed at Heaven, once again, and the Vees. They don't care that it was ultimately Vox, they're all on the chopping block. Hell, the Vees are probably executed, Charlie's word be damned. She is run on emotions and idk how much she would even care at that point. And Lilith? Ohhhhh. She either kills the Vees herself or stays the fuck away even more because of her husband being dead. The guilt of not being there and her heartbreak. Her FURY of It ALL. Finally, FINALLY saying FUCK IT and going home, or staying right where she is to Stop Rocking Charlie's world for a Moment, BUT ON THE OTHER HAND CHARLIE DOESN'T HAVE ANY PARENTS BEHIND HER ANYMORE. I Also don't have a way for this to resolve. Grief is forever, I know this as absolute fucking fact, so the book would just have to close somewhere.
I started thinking about this with Lucifer stays dead, but for a more long form fic to explore All of this potential it would have to go the survival route which I am Not complaining about. I Love temporarily dead character fics. Gives me all the Absolute Lows of a character dies fic with the unrealistic recovery and healing and comfort of a sweet as apple pie ending wrapped up in one giftbox.
I have NO experience or Any success with long form fics, I'm better at drabbles and concepts and quick emotions to write Any of this as I would like to see and read. I would Vacuum Hose Eat This Fucking Fic Up! Especially the beginning whump, there has not been a Single fic to Really scratch that Lucifer tortured and everyone watches or just fucking finds his smoldering corpse itch that's been pleguing me since ep6. I WAS PROMISED SCREAMS OF AGONY AND GIVEN NOTHING! MAKE JEREMY JORDAN CRY IN THE RECORDING BOOTH PLEASE!!!! IF I GET NOTHING OF THE SORT NEXT SEASON I MIGHT BECOME A HAZBIN ANTI!!! I NEED MY WHUMP VIVZIE I KNOW YOU HAVE THE CHOPS, YOU WROTE IT BEFORE WHY COULDN'T YOU CHAR THAT FUCKING SNAKE IN THE EGG!!!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOUVE DONE TO MY BRAIN?!
