#sequids

Hot off the season premiere last week Invincible looks to keep the season progressing. They certainly take a relentless approach in this episode with multiple storylines and plot threads that add depth to many of the core characters.

We shall start with Invincible and the things he deals with during this episode. Mark is coming up to his high school graduation, which is rudely interrupted by his old friend Doc Seismic. Mark then continues to deal with the fall out of his fathers actions when he is summoned to Atlantis to face trial. We are really seeing the way trauma affects people as Mark is persistent in doing the opposite way from his father. Most shows would simplify this down to easy details while Invincible as a series chooses to make it the primary focus. It definitely allows this to branch into the other storylines.

Elsewhere in this episode, we begin to see the frustration Mark's double life is having with Amber. We also see the struggle Atom Eve is having with making the right choice for the right reasons. All of this stems from what occurred during season one. The choice for Eve to want to help and have good intentions was seen to backfire. What this series does so well is that it reminds those around superheroes often don't have powers, but the trauma of superhero life has an impact on them as well.

So much happens in this episode from a villainous perspective and from a world building perspective. We catch glimpses of The Lizard League, the Sequids, as well as Angstrom Levy, and what his next move is. We know there are two episodes left before a break. It is doubtful all of the threads introduced in this episode will be resolved, but it lays the foundations for the remainder of the season. I, for one, am loving every aspect of this season and the character and world building it has accomplished in two hours. There is plenty more to come, and I will be right there waiting. "Oh, I'm sure it can't be that... bad...?" Rex trailed off, looking off as he seemed to notice something. "Okay, I'm gonna take an educated guess and say that plume of really bad-smelling smoke has something to do with it."

"Hmm?" Mark said, before looking back at the kitchen stove, and the smoke rising from it. "Oh shit!" he swore, immediately floating over to the burning stove and taking a small towel to hit the fire with. “Don’t worry about it, It’ll be out soon!”

“Honey...” Rex called. 

“Don’t worry, I got it!”

“Honey.” He was next to the stove now.

“I said I got it!”

“Honey!”

“What?!”

Rex reached down to the dials on the stove and gave one of them a quick turn. Almost immediately, the large flames in the pan began to die down, leaving a charred hunk of chicken to smoulder disappointingly, like even it was unhappy with Mark’s performance. 

“...Oh.” Mark said quietly. Then he groaned, his head falling into his hands. “Huuuuhh, I wanted to do something nice! Why can I still not cook?!”

Rex was quick to comfort him, peppering kisses along his neck as he hugged his boyfriend from behind. “I wouldn’t worry, honey. I’ll order us some good takeout while you try on some of the pyjamas I bought earlier.”

“Pyjamas?”

👋 - Do you like to hold hands? What are their hands like?

YES!!! YES YES YES I LUV HOLDING HANDS SO MUCH 💕 constant need to be holding onto him like some kind of weird tick. arle's hands are sooo long and pretty and delicate, ofc since he's a musician hes gotta have long fingers hehe. ive always imagined him to have porcelain-like skin, mostly bc of the way his face fractures during that fight with brighella reminds me of how cracks form in porcelain or ceramic. dont ask me how solid porcelain can move and bend we're talking abt living dolls infused with will thru alchemy ok AJSDKLHASK. anyway!!! i also think unlike most automata, bc of the combustion device in his chest he has his own body heat hehe :3 so hes nice n warm, perfect for holding. augh his hands r so much bigger than mine probably...longer but not a lot wider since his hands are probably on the thin side. again perfect 4 holding.

👬 - What kind of hugs do they give? (Do they lift you off your feet? Bear hug you? Softly cuddle you?)

uwa,, i think at first arle would be v gentle and tentative abt hugs at first, both bc he is completely unused to any kind of physical affection, and bc he's afraid of hurting me: squishy fragile human. he's spent a very long time only hurting maiming and murdering so he's nervous abt it u know. What If He Squishes Me To Death. after a while tho he gets more comfortable (and has a better understanding of how much force the average human can withstand) n he hugs me more often :) hes so fockin tall so a lot of times he'll pick me up for a hug so he doesnt have to bed down ajskdlja Picks me up like a naughty cat. abovely mentioned combustion and fire canister in his chest make him soooo warm n great for cuddles hehe

😘 - Do they kiss your hands, cheeks, forehead etc? What kind of not-on-the-lips kisses do they give most?

CAN I GET A MF HAND KISS ⁉ pleaseeeeeeee hes so fucking dramatic and like stereotypically chivalrous in a way that you know he learned it all from theatre performances n columbine's romance novels so of COURSE hes into hand kisses. constantly kissing the back of my hands, my palms, my fingers, etc etc. ALSO he does the french thing of cheek kisses for greetings hehe. excuse to kees me more

YES id be more than happy to talk abt it!! basically juli (my s/i, she has the same name as me bc shes the one i use most) comes from a family that originally resided in florida but moves a lot for unknown reasons, and at one point they move to japan (akatsuka is where osokun/san takes place so she moves there specifically). iyami of course acts how he normally would to other people towards her but overtime when she mentions having lived in france before boy does that get his attention. over the course of time a bond developes between them and its when they go on their first date to a ramen stand where iyami admits how he feels to her (very messily but vividly nonetheless) and asks her to be his gf <3 also thank you so much dude im so happy u like it!! im super proud with how much its developed over the course of almost two years and its insane knowing how i at first had a hard time shipping with him bc i didnt think id be his type ;;
