Ike/Soren: The goddess blesses Ike with a lifespan matching Soren's. Soren won't ask for more than what he has. It literally just never occurs to Ike that more exists.

Until one day, a hundred or two years later, Ike's glacially increasing physical affection with Soren goes a little past what could be considered 'friendly'. And then a lot past it.

Zelgius/Sephiran: The goddess takes pity on Sephiran and makes Zelgius immortal with him. Sephiran won't ask for more than what he has. Zelgius pines silently for the living saint he could never hope to reach.

Until Sephiran presses just a little bit, just a little, to get Zelgius to look at other people, to get Zelgius to take care of himself and have a life that doesn't revolve around Sephiran (thank you once again to the well-intentioned but questionably executed will of the goddess).

I was curious about how they speak to each other in the original Japanese, and what I found was actually fairly interesting. granted, there are like three scenes where they interact, but hey, that’s rarepair life.
