"Like a dream about to bloom
We are going to the moon."
- Aurora, A little place called the Moon
So um yeah, all those new photos of the Moon and the entire incredible Artemis II mission filled my heart with joy in these dire times 🥺 and as I saw lots of people bringing up Laika in many posts, I couldn't not think of how perfectly this aligns with the new Sentry story and its core themes, and my mind went at the gorgeous textless page of Bob and Normie flying to the moon that Paul Jenkins showed us in the preview.

The new Sentry series is about to start and I think we're not hyping his return enough! I have been excited like crazy since its announcement, especially because Paul Jenkins is writing Bob again and I'm ready to have my heartstrings pulled! I'm here for all the epic fights, introspection and emotional moments ✨️💕
I got the idea of this lil tribute while blasting some of my favourite 80s songs, and Gold by Spandau Ballet turned a lightswitch on in my brain 🤭 so I took the lyrics and tried to turn it into a Golden-Age style cover, while keeping Bob's more modern design and promoting the new comic by Jenkins and Rosado at the same time 🤸♀️ I must admit this is my favourite Sentry that I've drawn so far, and I was so happy with this artwork that I colored it twice for another cover-like illustration closer to my usual artstyle, stay tuned for it!
I am SO excited for the Golden Guardian of Good to be back and I hope this comic will be a success!!! 🥰

I know the best I can
Isn't always good enough.
It hurts to know I hurt you
Like I know it hurts for you to know you've hurt me.
And now my blood is yours,
And life is slowly losing touch.
How do we learn to tend to
These invisible wounds our homes gave us?
- Aurora, Invisible Wounds
Anyway, Sentry #1 had me sobbing like an idiot and I LOVED it, I'm absolutely on board with it, ready to have my heart ripped out and painfully stitched back. I wanted to redraw my two favourite panels of Bob and Lindy with Watchdog, putting them together in one 🥺💕 I wish to see more of her and I hope she'll stay close to Bob through this difficult moment, Watchdog is like their child at this point 😭
Meanwhile hope you'll like this!

"I know I belong here, on Earth, but I long to be lifted up. / My heart does not rhyme the rhythm of my mind. / What is life worth living, if you can't dance to anything?
Night after night, oh I long to be alright."
- Aurora, To be Alright
Variant version of this illustration! I was so happy with the lineart that I felt like coloring in a more personal style and use it again, with a different vibe. I am SO excited for the new series and I'll never stop gushing about it hahaah meanwhile I hope you'll like this version of the artwork as well 🥰💕💕💕✨️

Oof this one hurt again, so much. I have many thoughts on this issue so bear with me as I try to make it make sense. Obviously spoilers under the cut.
First of all, I really admire how Paul just wants to write Bob (and Lindy) facing such a human and "normal" challenge, this is painfully relatable and this comic feels very intimate and personal. It's refreshing when everything else is just "superheroes flashy blockbuster". I can't deny I was hoping to see more of Lindy in this issue, but I loved the scene with her and god I can understand her so much she really can't let go of Normie :( I really hope she won't get hate for not going with Bob to the vet, we all deal with grief in different way and while it would've been lovely to have both together, not going is a choice I understand and respect. (Read comments for more on this)
Bob's emotional breakdown and him trying to keep Void at bay was very interesting to witness like that. Him trying to keep it together at the vet just for Normie really hit me hard, even more than Normie's death itself 🫂💜
Leaving Normie aside for a moment, while I have faith in Jenkins for a banger finale ("that'll make readers go 💪🏻✨️" as he promised) I am a lil worried because there's a lot to unpack yet. CLOC promised also to Reed that Sentry is using the crystals to find a solution to the Void/Sentry balance, apparently the crystals are not alien but really seem to be something that come from Robert himself (???) yet we didn't really have time to see Sentry working on it, given how busy he was with caring for Watchdog. The whole thing with Fisk is also still unclear. Both the cystals and fisk's situations have gotten worse but didn't really progress that much... I really want Paul to deliver this finale also because I'm seeing many readers even more confused than me.
And I'm sure he will be able to tie the important stuff together, but I also feel he'll leave some mysteries unsolved on purpose (like Sentry's journey to space, I want to know what happened that made Void so strong and Bob so traumatised, but I fear that'll be left up for interpretation.) I'm starting to grasp his way of writing and how he chooses to focus on some things and leave out the rest.
Overall I still loved this issue and I love this series, but I can't wait for the finale mostly to see all plots coming together, I love Bob's struggles but I'm also eager to see the Golden Guardian in action and I really want to do a "hell yeah 💪🏻✨️"
Bob Reynolds you have 52 missed calls from your worried wife.
Jokes aside, I wanted to draw Lindy in #2 outfit because she looks lovely 💕 and of course I was so happy to see her reaching out and trying to understand what's going on with her husband and how to help him, even if CLOC isn't really helping her much, unauthorised this and that. She really said "the days of me waiting at home alone are OVER, I'm going to get my husband back no matter how much it hurts" and I really hope this will be the direction in which Jenkins is taking her, even with Void being so prominent.
And I know the new series is dark and moody but I stand my point that Cloc should emote more with its tendrils as arms.
