I know the best I can
Isn't always good enough.
It hurts to know I hurt you
Like I know it hurts for you to know you've hurt me.
And now my blood is yours,
And life is slowly losing touch.
How do we learn to tend to
These invisible wounds our homes gave us?
- Aurora, Invisible Wounds
Anyway, Sentry #1 had me sobbing like an idiot and I LOVED it, I'm absolutely on board with it, ready to have my heart ripped out and painfully stitched back. I wanted to redraw my two favourite panels of Bob and Lindy with Watchdog, putting them together in one 🥺💕 I wish to see more of her and I hope she'll stay close to Bob through this difficult moment, Watchdog is like their child at this point 😭
Meanwhile hope you'll like this!

Back again with my whacky concepts that are more aesthetic than making sense. 🤸♀️
Sentry is unavailable, either because he's on a long mission somewhere else, or simply because he's having a "no" day. But other heroes and friends need his help, and Lindy decides to do it by herself.
How to help by staying safely hidden in the Watchtower? Obviously, become the Watchtower. In a moment of bravery and rebellion, she convinces C.L.O.C. to connect her consciousness to the tower itself, turning her into a spokeperson for the building instead of Sentry and helping the heroes navigate the threats alongside with C.L.O.C.. It's overwhelming at first, but with time Sentry agrees to teach Lindy how to navigate through all the informations and be a good active support for him and their friends. She can also act as substitute of C.L.O.C. in case its orb robot gets damaged, or welcome heroes in need in the tower during emergencies.
(Does this make her redundant with cloc? Yeah a bit. But I find this more creative than just making her a Sentress, Bob's anxiety would spike through the roof if she were to combat on field, but ngl I love her in the role of an active support.)

Bob Reynolds you have 52 missed calls from your worried wife.
Jokes aside, I wanted to draw Lindy in #2 outfit because she looks lovely 💕 and of course I was so happy to see her reaching out and trying to understand what's going on with her husband and how to help him, even if CLOC isn't really helping her much, unauthorised this and that. She really said "the days of me waiting at home alone are OVER, I'm going to get my husband back no matter how much it hurts" and I really hope this will be the direction in which Jenkins is taking her, even with Void being so prominent.
And I know the new series is dark and moody but I stand my point that Cloc should emote more with its tendrils as arms.

It's a complicated story that we never talk about, but I see it in the mirrors, in the curtains of our house.
I don't want you to be worried that we're running out of time, it doesn't matter where we're going, we can leave it all behind.
Only when I see you cry I feel conflicted in my mind, it fills my heart up and it breaks me at the very same time.
When you open up the gates for me and leave the world behind, we find proof of love is hidden in the conflict of the mind.
- Aurora, Conflict of the Mind
It's been a while since I wanted to draw a somewhat angsty/sad BobLindy piece, inspired mostly by the 2005 series, especially after all the discourse there's been around Lindy's character, how bad Bendis ruined her (to the point that even Jenkins expressed discomfort) and how not everyone is happy she'll be back.
I personally find their conflict and marriage problems in the 2005 series very interesting to read, they're both very human and the tension and miscommunication are heartbreaking to read, especially with how much Bob loves her but feels crushed by his own identity. I'm not sure if staying together would be healthy for either of them, but I look forward to the new series to see if Jenkins will show us a different side of Lindy, hopefully more attuned to Bob's struggles. For now, love stays hidden in the conflict of the mind.

They only get a few pages in the first issue, but it's enough for me to see a slight change from vol.2 Lindy to present Lindy that gives me a bit of hope.
She is confused and worried, and this time she shows this worry to Bob and already tries to have him open up to her, which is something I really appreciated. She tries to make him talk- about space, about Laika, she tries to keep him grounded.
Unfortunately it's Bob who is always avoidant and closed off, paralysed by overthinking and fear, pushing her away and changing topic.
He promises Reed "I'll talk to her" and then he barely does. In this issue Bob is absolutely shut down and I do see more angst coming up.
Personally, I liked to see her so curious, gentle and willing to be with Bob... and it hurt to see him being so avoidant with her, but at this moment it makes sense. Bob's heart and head are in another place at the moment, but maybe grieving for the same reason will bring them together and I can picture Lindy going "I'm here, talk to ME, goddammit."
I'm sure Jenkins did read the community's concerns and he admit he wanted Lindy to be a support for Bob (like Yelena did in the movie) so I hope he'll follow that direction more clearly this time. The 2005 series was about them drifting apart because of his duties as superhero and her feeling abandoned, but here they have something in common which is Normie fading away. They both love their dog, it's like a child to them, and losing Normie will hurt both of them A LOT, it has nothing to do with superpowers and they're both on the same level in this situation. Jenkins said this series is about grief and how much love can hurt, but I sincerely hope this grief and hurt will bring Bob and Lindy closer, finally.
His writing is very adult and nuanced, their relationship is extremely human and things are not easy, even when love is there, both make and made huge mistakes. As a person who navigates between mental health concerns and grief in my own relationship (from both sides) I understand the avoidance and the crippling overthinking, so I want to keep that light of hope for BobLindy on because I trust the writer, it's likely there will be a bit of tension but things can get better and Lindy trying to be so communicative already is a step in the right direction imo.
