TW: I will discussing topics such CSA, and grooming. These scenes in the story genuinely make me e unease and made me start questioning some things about Gareth. I heard about the theory about Gareth possibly being a victim of CSA or potentially groomed or sexual abused by Senevier. I honestly can see why people believe this theory and honestly I am starting to believe it myself. I don’t like speculating on such a heavy topic but as I look through the manhwa again I started to see things differently. One scene that actually made me think about this more was the scene when we see Thalia call me out on his secret about him bringing women with blonde hair and blue eyes to his chambers. Blonde hair and blue eyes being physical traits that only Thalia and her mother have. And we get to see a scene where Senevier’s hair draping over Gareth almost like it is slightly wrapped around him. This scene genuinely felt haunting to me because feels like Gareth is being trapped or caged and he feels like he can’t escape. I sometimes see this type of imagery with hands, hair or their face when comes to characters being victims of some sort of sexual abuse. Another scene that makes me ask questions is the scene when Gareth is having a feast with some people of the church and then Thalia walks in. We see his reaction and he is not seeing Thalia he is seeing Senevier instead and his face almost looks like it is frozen in maybe in anger, fear, or something else entirely he is just frozen. But when we see Senevier in Gareth’s eyes we see her smiling it made me question if this is some sort of memory he has of Senevier. But one question came into my mind. When was this? Was this when he was a child? Was this some sort of interaction between Gareth and Senevier when he was younger? The way we see Senevier smiling in this image made me feel unsettled because it’s like she is smiling at or looking at Gareth. Or maybe this is a warped memory of Senevier in Gareth’s head. Her smile made me think a of snake or predator. This could make Gareth more interesting instead of him being an all around bad guy. Don’t get me wrong I don’t like Gareth personally I don’t like how he treats others and how he acts towards Thalia it genuinely makes me sick with way talks to her and touches her it feels predatory in its own right. I honestly was happy to see Thalia tell Gareth off and coming out and saying he is just like his father because say what you want Gareth was the one who started it Thalia literally told him to let her go but he ignores her and continues to mock and touch her which pissed me off. But it honestly made me wonder if there is more to Gareth then what meets the eye. It could be interesting if we see things from his perspective and see how he was perhaps maybe before Senevier came into the picture and see how he changed. Something in me just thinks there is more to see when comes to the dynamics between Senevier and Gareth. I don’t think these twisted desires that Gareth has for Senevier came out of no where like where did these desire exactly come from and when? His odd and violent behavior as a child is struck me as strange and we see Senevier is willing to exploit others for her own gain she is questionable morally and it made me start to think about things in a different light. But what do you think?

TW: I am going to be discussing potential CSA, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and grooming. One of the reasons I think this is a memory of Senevier when she was a lot younger is this dress. We saw in the first chapter that Thalia wore one of her mother’s old dresses from when she came to court. So I wonder if this is another one of the those dresses of course we don’t see the dress in full but I do see the identical chain like part of the dress like the dress that Thalia is wearing. Of course Senevier’s style of clothing may have changed a bit when she became Empress it’s a bit more formal and not as revealing in a way though she still has very beautiful dresses and clothes I think that the dress that Thalia is wearing in this scene is one of Senevier’s. I honestly wonder if Gareth had encounters with Senevier as a child and she was wearing this. Since in my earlier post I did describe her smile in this scene as unsettling at least in my eyes. Was this one of Gareth’s memories of Senevier? Her smile looks seductive and almost predatory. Like in my previous post I did talk about the theory of Gareth possibly being as victim of CSA by Senevier though it is heavily implied or Gareth was in someway shaped or form groomed by Senevier. Which I can definitely see as being the case and I can clearly see something was just not right with Gareth even as a child was very violent literally telling Thalia to die and literally physically attacking her. Something about Senevier both intrigue me and unsettles me. She definitely feels like a snake in sheep’s clothing literally. This can definitely explain Gareth’s creepy and disturbing desires towards her because when exactly did these desires come from or develope? It makes me wonder if seeing Thalia in that dress looking so much like Senevier triggers some of sort of memory he had of her that he is trying to block it out. Maybe something happened that day or something like that. Senevier clearly has this hold on him that just feels haunting. I don’t trust her at all and honestly she has an extremely dubious morality and is very manipulative. I am referring to her engaging Thalia to one of her old obsessive admirers like women what?! Did she think how dangerous that could be for her own daughter?! Like we already multiple man touch her inappropriately as a CHILD?! She was literally 15! And she was almost sexually assaulted by one of them! And that chapter literally made me sick! Doesn’t she know that or does she even care clearly not. Perhaps she didn’t I don’t think anyone knows except for Varkas but it still be potentially be dangerous for Thalia to marry someone who is very obsessed with her mother that she is literally a physical carbon copy of. She definitely has no issue with using or exploiting others for her own benefit. Though this is a theory it is heavily implied that this is the case for Gareth. And I am starting to believe it because there are definitely are signs.

Senevier was a princess?? Okay but if she was a princess then what was her country’s reaction to their princess becoming the emperor’s lover and the most hated/feared woman in Roem?
