26. Standalone or series, and why?

Probably long, chaptered standalone. I’ve had fun with series, and they give me the chance to tell a continuing story (which I love love love). However, I’ve really been getting into carefully layered long chapters in long standalones, and with that being so fun, it’s a little tricky to juggle both that and keeping multiple Chekhov’s guns warm across multiple distinct fics.

40. Original Fiction or Fanfiction, and why?

I’m working on original stuff, but man I love fanfic. It’s not just the storytelling aspect, then but also getting to contribute to the community aspect of fandom. It can be a warm hug to the people you already like, a welcome mat to people at the periphery, or you can basically bug the annoying neighbors who you know don’t like a certain trope*. In any case it’s there at an instant to plug into, with a lot of fiddly bits of canon to play with. (And I love lots of little fiddly bits.)

Author’s Blurb: There are several reasons Korra doesn’t her Landry promptly every Thursday night. One reason is because she is a mature responsible adult. Another reason is because of the really cute girl who also does laundry at that time.

My Take: This little fic is exactly as advertised. And who doesn’t love a fluffy AU over a basic and mundane task? Korra manages to put her foot in it and Asami takes advantage of the situation :) Read this for a quick pick-me-up - I did and it was lovely. This author also has an ongoing series of one-shots in a slightly different Modern AU that’s also a fun read. I can’t wait to see more of that unfold.

So in hind sight I shouldn’t have reblogged two of these in a row, but I’ll just answer #2 for both. 😂 (I honestly can’t believe someone sent me a number, so thanks, ha)

How old are you? Eighteen! (But give me two weeks, that’ll change.)

Do you miss anyone? Well, I actually just moved to college, and so there are a lot of people I miss (I moved about 2 hours from home, I have no car, and none of my close friends moved with me), but I miss one of my very best friends Lydia the most (if you’re reading this, Lyd, yes you). I just miss having someone who knows every single one of my interests and moods, and since we became friends less than a year ago, I just feel like we didn’t get enough time together before I moved away.
