Google Buy Buttons for Sellers
Now “Sell on Google” with the launch of Google Buy Buttons. Google has made the biggest move yet to push the entire retail market online with its Buy Buttons. This would not only simplify online shopping but also increase the effectiveness of re-targeted advertising. Google will be competing with all marketplaces like Amazon, Ebay and also Facebook, which has also launched the Facebook store where sellers can sell directly from their company page or groups.
Google Buy buttons will be placed on the top of the product advertisements and once clicked the page would redirect to the page where the customer can choose the product size & colours and the buyer can buy this directly from the seller and as well as other marketplaces. They have also announced that the product landing page will be branded by Google and will also have links to other products sold by other sellers. Google is also working on an effective delivery model to fulfil the orders and improve customer experience.
Google will not be taking a margin for the products sold but will be charge on pay per click basis which is comparatively less while marketplaces charge 10 to 20% of the retail price of the product. This feature is expected to hit the Indian market soon and can benefit a lot of sellers, especially sellers with unique goods & less no: of units to sell, like fashion designers & handicrafts, small scale sellers who also can’t afford the large marketplace margin cuts etc. It will also help Big Brands & other sellers with their own e-commerce sites to redirect potential customers to their page with minimum costs.
Google will be launching this feature only for mobile and they have their own reasons, the biggest being that most customers today search for products on their phones. Google will also be partnering with various marketplaces, the list isn’t official yet, but this will make a huge impact in the e-tail market in India.
Will google also come up with its own marketplace? Let’s wait and see.
