I have no idea if they are (wouldn’t know how to check if they were) but I could think of a couple of semi-recent incidents that would either make her a target or make it seem like she is a target. I know the amount of end-of-year acclaim she racked up for Be The Cowboy irked a particular batch of people, snatching the Peefork AOTY title in particular spurred a lot of (fairly exclusively male) commentary trying to undermine her by calling her the Rupi Kaur of indie-rock (:/) and stuff like that, attention she wasn’t entirely comfortable with and she went into a social media hiatus at least partially because of that. A hiatus she had to briefly leave not long after to comment on a (very quickly debunked) kerfluffle where someone anonymously claimed to have been groomed and sexually assaulted by her, which was compounded by an even more recent rumour that one of her parents (her dad, I think) is or was a employee of the CIA. The last one I only heard whispers of and was as far as I can remember never acknowledged by either her or the media. It’s all pretty crazy but I would imagine it’d be enough fodder for conspiracy theorists.
