People used to think (apparently some still do, given recent events) that when God gave Cain a 'mark' on his skin so people would know what he did (murdered his brother out of some misplaced jealousy) that his skin was 'darkened'. Assuming any truth to the story, I'm sure it was the other way around. The murderer was turned white. There are going to be some surprises at the pearly gates for anyone who thinks they're entitled to entrance.
