You can just jump in with a Zimbabwean running group, right?
This being me, I actually looked into it! There is a pretty active group in Harare, believe it or not. They organize a bunch of races and regularly train together. However, I am part of a group trip so we don’t have a lot of time to do our own thing (other than, take a few hours to explore this market sort of thing). But it did make me feel better that recreational running is something people are used to seeing there!

Sorry, man. I hope things improve for you soon. Have you ever looked at Meetup? Might be a way to get engaged with people in your area with similar interests.
I haven’t looked at Meetup specifically, but I’ve looked into some things. The problem I find with this city is that it’s a government city, so it attracts a certain type of person: risk-averse, conservative, boring. As a result, there’s just not a lot of variety to the groups and activities here.
For the short-term I should really plan a trip to Toronto where I know a lot of people.

Yes “long” is a different pace, somewhere between tempo and easy. There’s a chart in the book that you can reference.

The advanced plan goes from 6 to 10 gradually. The big jump in the beginner plan always seemed rather drastic (and cruel) to me. The tempos have always been the hardest part of the plan IMO.
In taking a look at the plan again, it looks like the tempo runs are:
5m, 5m, 5m, 8m, 8m, 8m, 9m, 9m, 9m, 10m, 10m
(I was wrong about an 8 miler being next week).
I’m thinking I’m going to go a bit off-plan and do 6m next week and 7 the following (so 5, 5, 6, 7, 8, 8, 9, etc)

“Waited”? Ha, no - remember this was for an extended bachelor party weekend. It took me that long to feel like I could even walk out the door :) Besides, I wanted to get some sun ;)

It was just nice to be out running and to be surprisingly quick for once! Most definitely aren’t going to be quite like this one...
