Reunion (Part 23...section 1)

Summary: 14 yrs ago, Joe rescued a girl. The two of them reunite, and events unfold.

He stirred hours later, looking down he smiled as he saw your curvy body draped over his. When he realized what woke him, he frowned he didn’t want to leave his bed or you but this had to get done. Careful not to wake you he managed to get out of his bed, not disturbing you.

Going over to his laptop, he checked the alerts.

**Lone, Russian Bear clan moved to motel at edge of town**

His jaw harden, time to finish this. He thought. He went back to his room. He pulled on some jeans, and pulled on a t-shirt followed by one of his hoodies.

He saw you stir, it broke his heart that you woke up.

He came and sat by you on the bed. He caressed your hair. “Sweetheart, I know where they are.” He said softly despite his adrenaline kicking in to get things done.

He watched as your eyes fluttered open, “Let me go with you.”

“I don’t want you to get hurt.”

“I won’t I’ll stay in the car.”

“They are on high alert, I don’t know if I can control the situation.”

You rolled over, your warm body was closer to him. “More reason for me to come.”

He sighed, he could see the passion about this burning in your eyes. He drew down and kissed you. “I don’t think I could take it if anything happened to you.” He said against your lips.

“That’s why I need to come, in case something happens to you.” Your soft hand cupped his cheek, he drew it down and kissed your palm closing his eyes. He never did this before but your point was valid.

“Ok.” He opened his eyes. “But stay in the car.”

“Alright.”

He watched as you got out of bed. “I will go and get my clothes on.”

While you did so, pulled on his socks and boots. He fastened a bit knife to belt. He grabbed one of his better hammers and fastened that as well.

You came back with jeans and a hoodie on. It looked very familiar yet was more worn then when he last saw it. He could not help but smile.

“That looks familiar.”

“I managed to hold onto it all these years.”

He came over and tipped your head up and gave you a soft kiss. “Let’s end this tonight.”

“Yes.” He could see your eyes glisten.

You two were silent as you drove over to the location. Occasionally, he reached over and squeezed your hand.

After feeling confident after watching the house and there was no on stirring on the outside, he was ready to go in.

“I will be out of there before we know it.”

You nod.

“Now stay in here.” He put the keys in your hand. “In case you need to drive away.”

“I am not leaving you.”

“Only if you have to.” He pulled your face close to his. “I am coming back to you.”

He stayed close to the shadows. He crept up, he was taken back when the back door was unlocked. He knew how overly confident they were, so he shouldn’t be too surprised.

He found one guy with his back to him. He came up and easily, stuck the knife in and it was a clean silent kill. Letting the man slump into the wall and drew him down, so he wouldn’t fall with a thud.

The rest of the first floor was empty. Then he climbed up to the second floor. Easily, he dispatched two other guys, tried to get him but they went down, they had been too concerned with hurting each other then really going after him.

Searching the rooms, he didn’t find anyone else. Then going up to the third, he dispatched another guy, then rounding a corner he spotted two bodyguards outside a room. The pot at the end of the rainbow. That’s where he was.

Speed would be his advantage. Grabbing the first guy, he used the guys bulk to his advantage. He stabbed him repeatedly, killing him instantly and using him as a shield as the other tried to get him. Then pushing him aside, he went after the other guy and slammed into him with the hammer. Screaming out, he got him. His head was a mess when he was done. He wiped his face, so the blood wouldn’t drip into his eyes.

He went to the door. Opening it, the man wasn’t there but then he crashed to the floor as the guy jumped him. Angry, in the jostle he let go of his hammer. They both groaned. He heard a gun click. Moving fast, he grabbed the man’s wrist, a bullet went into a ceiling.

Spotting, his hammer he grabbed it and smashed it into his shoulder. He got the upper hand. “You’re done.” He saw his eyes widen. He slammed into the man repeatedly.

Exhausted, exhaling he collapsed. It was over.

You watched as Joe, staggered out of the house. He looked solid, you saw him raise his hands in victory.

Relief, washed over you. You can finally lock and throw away that chapter in your life.

That was cut short. You saw a guy come from out of no where, he was raising an arm up and you saw a gun.

“Joe!!!” You scream.

You tear open the door. “Joe behind you!”

He turns, and was slammed with a bullet. You watched as Joe jumped at the guy. A stunned expression filled his face.

Joe, somehow managed to dispatch him. Then he collapsed. You ran over and turning him over, “Joe..Joe...what do I do?”

Somehow, you dragged him into the car. You managed to get the car started. He sputtered and coughed, “It will be ok..” He managed to say, his voice raspy

The snow had finally, tapered off.

“Come on, Mommy.” Little Joe, grabbed you by the hand excitedly. He had been wanting to play in the snow all day!

“I’m coming...I’m coming!” You grabbed your gloves and followed him out.

Once outside, he jumped about and threw some snow up into the air. Toby, your trusty bulldog who loved little Joe so much began playing in the snow with him happily. You managed to slip your gloves finally on as you watched the two happily.

“Mommy, I am going to make a snow angel.”

“Great sweetie!”

“Do you think daddy will see it?”

Bittersweetness, filled you.

“I am not sure honey.”

“Ok, mom.” But he still threw himself onto the snow and began making an angel.

“That’s an amazing angel sport!”

Your heart lifted as Joe’s voice filled your ear as you then felt his arms wrap around your middle.

“Daddy!” Little Joe, yelled. He jumped over and ran over to the two of you.

You turned surprised. “You were not supposed to be back till after Christmas.” You sighed, and easily went into his arms. “I am so glad you are home.” You could feel as little Joe, hugged both of your legs.

“No job, even making sure the governor’s home is secure for the holidays would keep me from you two.”

....this is one way it could have happened....
