The Forbidden Soldier
You can run from your problems, but they'll always find you.
Brynn and Weston were high school sweethearts, and they were planning a future together. But Brynn’s mother isn’t going to let that happen, and convinces Brynn she’ll be better off with someone who can provide for her.
Okay, let’s stop for a second and really think about that. What exactly is “someone who can provide for her”? Is her mother stuck in the 1950s? What a ridiculous thing for her to say, as if the man has to be the breadwinner and the woman has to be the housewife.
Wow. Just…wow.
Well, she got married to a man of her mother’s choosing. And is she happy? NO. Which is why she filed divorce papers and then fled to Hawaii for a getaway to visit her best friend. And guess who else is in Hawaii? I don’t need to tell you, do I?
Now, I know a little something about someone disapproving of my relationship. When I met my husband, it wasn’t long before I knew he was The One. But my mother was not happy about it. She thought I would come to my senses. She didn’t like him, she’d never liked him, and she didn’t know what I saw in him. She said those things to me three weeks before the wedding, during a phone call. I basically told her to stuff it, because we were getting married regardless of her feelings about it. And guess what? We’re coming up on our 29th wedding anniversary.
Be aware that this book has steamy scenes, but there are not a lot of them. So, to sum up, because I don’t want to spoil the whole book, Brynn pretends she doesn’t know Weston, which devastates him, and continually runs from her problems. It’s going to take a bit more effort for these two to get that happy ending, but it will happen. So, come for the Hawaii setting, stay for the reconnecting lovers, and get the book.
