@narnianexus Second Excursion The Horse and His Boy Characters: Aravis Tarkeena //She wasn’t looking for a knight, she was looking for a sword// Aravis’ character exemplifies being an independent woman. Not only do we have someone who flees a life of arranged marriages and abuse, but does so on her own accord, dressed as a man, with nothing but a horse and a scythe. She is one of my favorite characters because of her ferocity throughout the book. There is a lot of debate about Lewis’ thoughts on women/girls, especially referencing Susan, but I think we often forget about Aravis’ strength and the type of unconventional female role she represents. Her story is one that may have not typically been presented to children, especially young girls, but I think she acts as a unique role model.
