Resources Wednesday
Today in our resources Wednesday, we want to share with you a resource that we think it’s particularly relevant when you want to write hurt/comfort, action, or other plots that might include a character getting injured: @scriptmedic.
Not only you can find a multitude of questions about how to write medical-related issues in the blog, but some interesting analysis of media, amongst others! Please remember first that this blog is NOT made to give real life medical advise/help you get a diagnose, and that it’s mostly archived, so your first way of interacting should be by searching the content already made, before checking if Aunt Scripty has opened temporarily the askbox.
Honestly, the amount of resources Aunt Scripty has for different issues is so big that you should probably check their masterlist/tags first, because if you are going to write a plot that involves hospitals, doctors, injuries or illness it’s very likely Aunty has already talked about it.
But as always, here are some posts we’ve checked:
The structure of an injury plot
The tropes tag
The tag for bite wounds
We hope you have fun and find answers for the all-kinds-of-questions that writing, drawing, and creating brings!
Look what showed up today! @scriptmedic
bye
i’m out, i quit, whatever. and you know what? i feel great.
to the “family”, there are two of you i tolerated. i was in this group for almost nine months. nine fucking months of constantly having to deal with the patronizing behaviour, which was so bad that i couldn’t complain about any single thing without being told to calm down and talk about it in 24 hours and anger is bad and nasty and you shouldn’t be upset about never getting a say and all that kinda nonsense. in the future, try listening. you’ve lost people because you never do, and you’ll continue to do so, at this rate.
and to you, the 800-odd people who followed me because of the out-of-context handle on my username. have fun or whatever. enjoy your writing. don’t come to me for advice lmao (none of you ever did anyway, which was cool because i wouldn’t have answered it ayy).
peace out yall.
jay.
ps- don’t stay in a situation that’s making you feel shit for nine months. take agency instead of just gritting your teeth because “it might get better one day”. trust me.
scriptmedic replied to your post “Free ebook: New Tales From Old Yarn”
Hey! Congrats on the book!! As a heads up, because this might be useful from a marketing perspective, I downloaded this because of four things: 1) The title is GREAT and instantly says what you're getting 2) The cover. The GIF version is a very nice touch. 3) Knowing that it came from Tumblr authors. I might have passed otherwise. 4) Free is For Me™. Also congrats on the kick ass category rankings! I'll leave a review when I've read some of it ♥️
Thank you @scriptmedic!
I’m confident that you’ll find something in our anthology that will click with you. We have so many different stories in there, brought to life by talented writers, there is something to love for everyone.

Currently reading through the outline I’m in the middle of for The Lost Crown, and I’m at almost 4 sticky notes of questions to ask various blogs. (Shout out to the @scriptmedic and the rest of the scriptx blogs, @authors-haven, @dukeofbookingham, and @oliviapaigewrites for being so awesome!)
scriptmedic replied to your post: Aren't canola oil and rapeseed oil the same thing?...
What about avocado oil? Yes/no? Abort/retry/fail?
It’d need to be organic but yea, avocado oil should be safe for people with sulfite allergies. It’s not safe for me though cause I have a latex sensitivity, so it’s not a safe food for latex allergies. Which a lot of other people don’t realize, they just hear latex and think medical gloves and condoms.
Also most table salt that has been iodized salt has an anticaking agent made from corn cellulose (a sulfite preservative) so it can even be the salt you are adding into your food. Safest thing for people with sulfite allergies is plain old sea salt.

Is it possible to walk, well, attempt to walk, on a broken leg in any way? Would this result in permanent problems, such as a limp after healing? I assume it would...
All I remember about broken legs is the one I got when I was twelve, which was a spiral fracture of the tibia (but the fibula remained intact). After I was helped to my feet, I immediately started falling down again after I tried to put weight on it as the whole thing just gave out. I needed two grown adults to help me get to a nearby bench, which I hopped to, and then got carried out to the car when my mother finally arrived to pick me up. It was pretty terrifying.
Now, that’s not all breaks. So, I suggest you go check out @scriptmedic as they can probably give you a little more help in the medical department than we can.
