Stranges Ch2
That’s where I come in. I was eight when this happened. I had just found out I had a healing It. Anyone I touched and wanted to heal, I could do so. The longer I touched someone, the stronger the healing became. I could also feel who and what needed healing. Healing/being a doctor became my dream. Growing up was hard as the royal guard would come around and make sure no one was doing It. Not doing It had consequences though, my body would start to feel like it was on fire. My father would purposely get hurt so that I could heal him to relieve the pain. He was a human and had a Mental It, he could feel if someone was falling into mental illness or if they were hurting. My mother was a “Strange”, a fierce dragonine healer, who had no It except for hiding her dragonine features. She gave me my nearly invisible scales that protect me from nearly any weapon, sharp claws, wings, and fangs. Just like her, I can hide my scales and wings and make my fangs and claws seem like a humans’. When I let my scales show, they let me blend into the shadows. With my wings unfurled, I can fly and glide. When I was young, Mutti would wrap her starry, midnight wings around me and tell me everything would be ok, while Vatti would tell stories. Oh, how I miss those days. Mutti was betrayed by her coworker, and she was hunted and turned to stone. That stone now lies in a hidden garden were I hope to bring her back to life. Her stone was chipped from where the guard tried to rip her tail off. Vatti wept for months, unending. He still lives but he is one of my patients at the hospital I work at. He is catatonic, except when I am by myself. I take care of his every need and give him updates on what happens outside the healing room.
The most recent update was that the queen has two children. One was a perfect golden boy and the other was a shame to them. The boy was born second and human all the way. The other was a Strange. They were born first. They were born with horns, large ears, a tail, wings, and illusionary It. Queen Merci ripped the wings off the child and was going to do worse until the nurses pulled her away from the babe.” That is no child of mine!” she screamed while writhing around in her bed. The nurses were able to save the child and parts of their wings. “They may be able to fly”, the nurse stated. The child was then given to the King. King Spark named the children. The golden boy was named Prince Indulf Thomas Philip of Neu (Wolf Twin Fond of horses). The other child was called Beast. Beast’s birthright of being firstborn was stripped of them, and given to Indulf; thereby making Indulf the heir. They are eight years old now. The nurse was retired and the secret about the second child was let out. Before that we only knew about the young prince. Finding out about Beast shocked the citizens of Neu. Few began to question the royalty, as to why the “human” queen had a Strange child.
