I see you're a writer. Are you also a screenplay reader? If so, how would you react to reading a severely flawed script?
I have done some freelance screenplay reading. I have also done coverage in a professional capacity, and read a lot of my friends scripts.
So I guess that it would depend on how I was reading it at the moment.
As a friend, I usually try to give them the best notes to how to improve their writing.
Doing freelance screenplay reading, I’m usually doing it for people who ask/pay me to cover their scripts. There I will generally do a professional level coverage, and include a section on how to improve.
When I’m doing screenplay coverage for a company, well, then I usually read about 10 pages, and if I can already tell that it could not work for the company or is WAY TOO BAD, I will stop reading. Most companies have a 10 (or 30) page option that you can throw out if you just know it’s bad.
