“Take. It. Off.” 

“What?” you asked fighting off a smile as you stood proudly with your Batfam t-shit in the Xavier school for the Gifted.

“First off, the Batfam isn’t a real team, and second, if you are trying to restart that fight we had when you wore you Avenger’s T-shirt it’s not happening.” 

“Well first off,” You said mimicking his hand motions as you ticked off your reasons “I wouldn’t say that was a fight and more of a debate. And SECOND, are you saying you don’t like my shirt?” 

“No, I do NOT like your shirt, where is your loyalty?”

“NICCEE” Peter said walking by Scott nodding toward your latest shirt, “does our fearless leader disapprove of your latest loyalties.” 

“He wants me to take it off.”

“Ohhh I’m ok with that order.”

“No, that’s not…” Scott sighed rubbing his temples as you stood hands behind your back smiling up at him. You couldn’t help but push his buttons just a little. He was just so cute when he was frustrated. 

But in a way he kind of asked for it since he was the one who had asked you the rest of the team “where your loyalty was.” after you had all rushed out to ice cream. 

Obviously it lay with ice cream… but taking the joke just a bit further was just something you couldn't help but do. Especially when Jean had suggested it as an offhand joke. 

“You know you’re still my favorite right?” You asked taking another step forward so you had to crane your neck to look up at him still flashing him that large toothy grin. He looked down fighting back a smile. “You’re just also so easy to tease.” 

“Yeah, Yeah,” Scott said waving his hand, “you and your unloyalty get out of here.” 

“See you at practice?” 

“Yep.” 

It really only took admitting he was being too uptight. Sure, you knew part of that was from him being nervous about leading the squad, but he was an amazing leader so he shouldn’t worry. 

Which was why you headed into team practice proudly dressed in your retro X-men t-shirt. Two holes were cut out the back for your large dragon wings spread wide ready for training. Fierce and ready to take on anything your leader was going to throw at you. 

The look on Scott’s face was priceless. Grinning from ear to ear at the sight. 

Maybe you should have started with this all along. He was even cuter with… whatever you would call that expression on his face. 

Not that you would ever admit that to him.

Back story: Scott hires you to help as a counselor for the mutants at the Xavier school of gifted youngsters. You are a human but for some reason, Scott said it had to be you. You both become close over the school year.

“Hey, you busy?” Scott’s face peaked into your office from the doorway. A smile on his face as he held a bag of your favorite takeout. It was Friday late in the afternoon, the soft orange light spilling into the window giving the room a heavenly glow.  

“Just cleaning up, how’s it been dean of students.”

Scott sighed taking a seat on the couch placing the bag on the coffee table before rubbing his forehead. The burning behind his eyes just a little stronger today than normal.

“That bad.”

“No, I mean… it’s just been a year.”

“Still having nightmares?” you asked handing him the jar of candy you always kept on the table for students and guests to your office.

“Actually no”

“Oh, those tips I gave you working.”

“Among other things. Actually, I think it was something you told me.”

You couldn't help but smile as you opened to takeout bag picking up our meal and unwrapping it. “What did my all infinite wisdom tell you?”

“I’m allowed to be happy.”

“Crazy concept huh?”

He smirked taking another candy popping it in his mouth. He liked to eat a few sweets before a meal. A weird fact you had discovered a few weeks ago, “I feel like you needed to keep hitting me over the head with it until it stuck.”

“Good thing I’m so stubborn.”

“Yeah, it’s one of the things I love about you.”

“How romantic.”

“I’m serious.”

“Humm?” you glanced up from your meal placing your fork down. What did he mean serious?

“I… I’m in love with you.” He said again looking up at you, his lips in a thin line as he studied you behind his red glasses. “I,” he looked down at his hands then back at you, “Since you have joined our team you just remind me what it means to be part of a team.” he smiled getting up crossing the room to where you sat.

“If you don’t feel the same way that’s fine, I’ll back of but…” he sat down next to you, “I just needed to get it off my chest. I mean I could have picked a better way to...”

“I really like you too.” you cut him off, “for a while now but I just assumed it was one-sided…”

“I don’t see how anyone couldn’t be in love with you,” Scott whispered gently taking your face in his hands kissing you gently. “You are… strong”

With each kiss it got deeper and longer, his body moving over yours pushing you into the back of the plush couch. With each word, you felt yourself getting loss further into his embrace.  

“Let’s uhh maybe not do this in my office,” you said gently pushing his chest, just enough that he paused.

“I’ll do it anywhere you want.”

“Did the stuck up Scott Summers just make a sex joke?” you gasped in mock shock. He laughed gently kissing your forehead hands.

“What can I say, you bring out a side of me I didn’t know I had.”
