Suddenly remembering the cute motorcycle interaction I had between Thomas and Scott⦠god theyāre so cute⦠Motorcycle riding!Thomas⦠Backpack!Scott my belovedā¦
Thomas who is a little introverted about everything else, but when it comes to fencing or motorcycles? Heās so passionate!
I like to think that he and Nicholas would get along so well talking about bikes and equipment. They could go ride together if it were a college or older auā¦
I made up a fictional festival purely to write Thomas with a flower in his hair and make it a tradition for bachelors and bachelorettes to offer and exchange flowers with their intended dance partner.
Thomas asking Scott if he could give him his flower? š„ŗš¤²š Scott tipping his head down so that Thomas can put the flower behind his ear?? Scott taking his own flower and placing it gently behind Thomasā ear? Running his fingers through his hair to hold a lock of that soft waviness before pressing a chaste kiss whilst not breaking eye contact???? Oh my sweet honey roasted yams theyāre in love theyāre so in love oh my god
Praline i see your Stardew Fence au post and I need to know more about Scott/Thomas in this -- do they live in town? on a farm? what do they do? does Aster visit and bother Thomas constantly? does Scott still need to wrangle his unruly underclassmen neighbours? (i can sort of see Scott becoming besties with Krobus and Thomas being all 'Scott why do you smell like a sewer' š¤Ø)
Hi kwoc!!
Iām going to be completely honest with you, I havenāt thought much of the details of the story at all. Itās more of a daydream concept than a currently standing wip, although thinking about it is definitely making the gears in my head turn š
As for Scott, I definitely want to make him from the Valley, I liked his interaction with Nicholas in (volume 5?) and I think heād be a great first friend or town guide. Scott definitely works at the town museum.
There are plenty of options here, acquaintances, friends, flirting stage, established relationship and sharing a place togetherā¦
The choice that appeals to me the most, and that I spent a good chunk of time thinking about in the shower, is that Scott lives in the Valley, while Thomas and Aster live in the next town over, driving to Pelican Town to deliver products to be sold in the equivalent of Pierreās shop or the Stardrop Saloon (or Eugeneās family? I like the āsmall family businessā angle). This gives room for the twins to have reason to visit the town and interact with townsfolk.
I did have another idea where their family were fishermen and dock on the beach, but that means interactions between them would be sparse, or have to be intentional for it to work.
Thereās also the idea of the Adventurerās Guild concept for nichoji that I was thinking about, and maybe have them bump into each other there, the Quarry Mine, or the Calico Desert (Skull Cavern or Desert festival). And then after befriending each other they could potentially visit each otherās towns while fulfilling requests.
Somehow though, the small town romance of the first option appeals to me the most lol.
do they live in town?
Scott does, while Thomas and Aster live in the town over. I do like the idea of them living together though, so perhaps they would be by the time Nicholas moves down to the Valley to take over Cox Farms. Aster on the other hand either continues to live in their home town or also moves into Pelican Town with his own significant other. I kind of like the idea of Nicholas thinking Aster and Thomas are the same person and talking to them as if they were, only to get confused when he sees them kiss Scott and Asterās partner at separate times lmao.
on a farm?
No, but I do fancy the idea of Scott knowing how to ride a horse (currently envisioning him on a grey one) and Iām not sure if I should give him one, or stick with the idea of Sungchulās family owning a farm or ranch for horses. In this au, I think it makes the most sense for Sungchulās family to have an orchard and horses. And maybe chickens? I think Peppersalt Ranch sounds pretty charming (oh no, another logo design project š)
The Leventis family on the other hand, I havenāt decided if I want to also give them a farm, but I like the idea of them either running a bakery or restaurant. I could also imagine them with a smaller scale greenhouse rather than a farm for fresh produce and herbs. House-made pesto and salad would be so so amazing on the menu. If Stardew Valley was set in a more fantasy/leisurely atmosphere rather than a semi-modern one, I could imagine the Leventis family owning an inn because Iām getting hospitality vibes and think that could play out very well as a romantic backdrop.
what do they do?
Scott works at the Stardew Valley Museum, but I like to think his academic interests (in this au) lie in some indeterminate subject I havenāt figured out yet. I do get historical vibes though. Maybe he does work on a computer like Sebastian, or gets sent projects and artifacts to document and study. I see him volunteering at the Adventurerās Guild or being one of the leaders there, sort of like those volunteer firefighters.
Thomas is someone I havenāt given any particular direction to. In my college au, Thomas is an undeclared major. He sort of follows after his dad (who I headcanon to be an architect) but he feels like it just isnāt the career path for him. In Stardew Valley terms, I think heād help out with the family business until he finds his calling. Maybe he finds it with Scott š
Aster gives me blacksmithing vibes. I think of him as the type of guy to make those spoon rings and that hobby sort of evolves from there. He also participates in the Adventurerās Guild with his brother in their respective hometown.
does Aster visit and bother Thomas constantly?
Assuming that Thomas has already become boyfriends and moved in with Scott, Iād say yes but only a ānormalā amount, not constantly, but he definitely drops by every now and then. Because driving over to Pelican Town for restocks is on a more or less regular schedule, I think heād drop in for lunch or chill on the beach and tide pools. Aster does his own thing and then shows up randomly with a fish he just caught for his brother or boyfriend to cook dinner with.
does Scott still need to wrangle his unruly underclassmen neighbours?
I like to think that Van and Gian are neighbors, either by their homes or their familyās businesses. Gian gives me pottery vibes. Iām not getting any particular vibe from Van (I also havenāt read Sweet Sixteen so if thereās any further characterization for our Halverton boys I wouldnāt know). I do recall that he was arguing over Italian fashion vs French? (This has led me down a wikipedia rabbit hole, and apparently Italy is up there with France and the United Kingdom in fashion design). So if I could take a shot Iād say maybe some specialized textile or leatherwork? Would be funny if (this is literally the last sentence my draft leaves off at and I do not recall what I was thinking about at the time š )
I think Scott would wrangle his neighbors when theyāre going through the mines, but in normal civilian life he just sort of lets them be unruly. They might be his monkeys, but theyāre not at his circus right now, so itās not his current responsibility to deal with lmao
(i can sort of see Scott becoming besties with Krobus and Thomas being all 'Scott why do you smell like a sewer' š¤Ø)
Ooh I like the idea of Scott befriending people from all sorts of places. He seems like a very personable kind of guy, as can be seen in Vol 5-6(?) where Scott kindly chats with Nicholas after seeing him in awe of the training camp. He has such a striking personality, his kind and friendly demeanor combined with his calculating and maybe even ruthless captain hat that we can see when it comes to fencing. This captain hat is definitely useful in disciplining (restraining) or guiding his unruly neighbors and fellow guildās members.
Narratively, I think it makes more sense for Scott to be friends with the Dwarf, or at least before meeting Krobus. I like the idea of him being interested in linguistics and the dwarf scrolls that he finds while surveying the mines, and perhaps a bomb mishap with Gian and Van leads to the three (or four if Sungchul is there) meeting the Dwarf on the other side of that passageway!
Assuming that Scott meets Krobus before Thomas or Nicholas, it would be pretty reasonable for our beloved sewer dwellerās existence to be a little on the hush hush side of things and Scott being at a loss for words when the cute boy from across the Valley asks why he *cough cough* smells dank š³š
Poor Scott, running into Thomas at the worst possible time. Maybe he can play it off as running out of deodorant (still pretty awkward), random gas leak (concerning), or spin it around like, āThe mayor asked me to check the sewers to search for a lost piece of jewelry.ā He is a scorpio though, so the last response works out the best, I think. He would however, be thinking about that interaction to an embarrassing degree while heās in the shower scrubbing off the sour stench clinging to his skin.

Your ask was really entertaining to think about, kwoc.
Usually when I write for a ship, I write solely one personās pov (although Iām attempting to write a switching pov for another fic and itās been an interesting experience). In terms of this pairing in particular, my brainworms save for one have been in Thomasā pov, but this Stardew au is really begging for a Scott pov, and itās been rather fun entertaining that!
Sorry this took so long! I started rambling my reply and then got carried away with real life lol
Praline! š For the ship ask game, how about #2, 9, 14 for the Weather Boys??? š¤
Hi Kwoc! Thanks for the ask :)
2. Who comes up with the best date night ideas?
I wouldnāt really say one of them is better at planning or suggesting a date idea over the other, but I do think that Scott would have the most variety.
I get the vibe that Scottās more likely to explore activities to do with Thomas and get out of the house to do things (not to say that he isnāt a comfy guy and wouldnāt be down for a movie marathon and cuddle session). As an avid LOTR fan, I think interests in fantasy-related activities comes with the territory (renaissance faires and DnD).
Thomas on the other hand occasionally suggests events they could go to from flyers that he might have seen or places heās been recommended, like a farmerās market. I think itās less planning and more āOoh whatās this?ā But itās fewer and far between the types of dates that Scott plans. Everything is inter-spliced with the tried-and-true mall date and classic ādrive around and park the car in a secluded spot to make outā session lol.
I do think that Thomas would be more open to doing things spontaneously the further into the relationship they are. For example, going to the local yarn store because some small business that Scott mentioned he likes just released a new batch of hand dyed wool, or Thomas having a craving for some pastry heās never made before and calls Scott to ask if he wants to go down to the store and buy the pan and ingredients with him.
Wow I didnāt think Iād have so much to say on this topic šš§¶āØ I just realized I made Scott a āI want to share my interests with you so that we can do them togetherā type of person and Thomas āthis made me think of you so letās do this activity togetherā kind of guy and I think thatās so cute? š„¹š They just fit ššāØ
9. Who believes in ghosts?
I had to sit and think for a bit on this one. I definitely think Scott is an all or nothing kind of guy, either he totally believes in ghosts, or not at all, while Thomas on the is open to the idea of supernatural forces but doesnāt actively believe or disbelieve in it. This is subject to change though while I solidify my thoughts writing these characters š¤
14. Whoās better at writing professional emails?
In high school? I think Scott would be better because he seems like the type to be very attentive to his words and reference āhow to write a professional emailā blogs. Thomas crosses me as the type to have close and amicable relationships with his teachers and just ask what he needs in-person or from his classmates. If for whatever reason he needs to email a teacher, it would be short and polite.
In college? I think they would both be very good at professional emails but in different ways. Thomas retains his preference for brevity, keeping his emails short and to the point, while Scott makes me think he knows just how to use his words in order to convince someone to grant him a favor or extend a deadline.

A/N: I was inspired to write this ficlet by @7-sided-dice's headcanon about the Halverton boys playing D&D :D It's a double drabble, or 200 words exactly - I was considering not doing a drabble derivative this time around, but the wordcount turned out really close to 200 anyway, and the editing and touching up always makes my writing better, so I like it xD
Shout out to the anon who asked for more Halverton fics! I hope you enjoy!

It was going well, Scott told himself. Sure, Van and Gian had bickered for ten minutes over whose character would be the tallest, and Sungchul had wanted more subclasses than was possible, but after a few turns they'd settled down and got into it.
Now, they were hanging on his every word as he described the scene.
"The door creaks open to reveal an old room, dust hanging thick in the air. But you can just make out a spectral figure hovering in the middle. This spirit may be here to offer information. Or mislead you to your doom."
"We could ask it about the weird tome we found," Sungchul conferred with the others.
"We should leave it alone," Gian countered. "I think it's a trap. Let's investigate the room."
But Van looked directly at Scott. "I stab the ghost!" he declared.
"You-" Scott began.
"With my sword," Van added, in case that wasn't clear.
The other two stared. Scott could feel his headache from earlier returning. "Before we do this, I just want to check, are you su-"
"Yes."
Scott suppressed a sigh and considered crumpling up his notes.
"Okay." It had been going well. "Everyone roll for initiativeā¦"

A/N: I've played D&D twice ever - three times if you count the practice session a friend and I did to get the hang of the mechanics - but in one of those sessions, which was with a group of friends of friends, I was playing a Swashbuckler Rogue and I decided that stabbing the ghost seemed like something my character would do, so I did it xD When I was looking for ideas for Halverton chaos, it was the perfect inspiration :D
Look, proof from my notes!
One of these days I will get the chance to play more D&D.
I thought about giving the fic a more "D&D-realistic" title since I'm pretty sure rolling a nat 1 on intelligence isn't a thing, and then I rationalised that it didn't have to make sense and it was better than my other ideas xD
