Happy birthday, Flying Scotsman!
A very late contribution to Flying Scotsman's 100th birthday celebrations with his design. I might change it going forward slightly, but the jist is there!
A little bit of bio to go with it:
Scott "Flying Scotsman" Gresley is the second legitimate Gresley sibling after Gordon. The third sibling, if you count half-brother Henry, but more on that later.
Scott is the celebrity of the family, being famous all around the world for breaking the 100 miles an hour record. He has travelled to all corners of the world and has been the subject of many books and television programming, rivalled only by his older brother and half-brother. However, he only really considers his hated cousin, Mallard, as a true rival. His relationship with Mallard is similar to the one Gordon has with Spencer, if you were to take the familial bond and replace it with malice. The two loathe one another completely, though Scott and Spencer get along famously.
As for Gordon, Scott actually loves his surviving brother dearly and even looks up to him. He envies his brother's marriage and recent fatherhood, all but worshipping his niece and nephew on his increasingly frequent visits.
Scott makes a great show of being friendly to the other engines on Sodor, the exceptions of Henry and Rebecca.
Scott absolutely resents Henry for the relationship he and Gordon share, despitenot being a 'real' brother. He refuses to acknowledge Henry as a member of his family, even trying to 'correct' Gordon's assertions that he is, and is openly hostile to Henry while being frustrated by the elder's refusal to react. This feeling has made him maliciously friendly to Gordon's wife, James, in the hope of spiting her first husband, even if he always forgets her name.
Scott was the last to acknowledge Rebecca as his niece, but this was not malicious. Scott was very close to Rebecca's mother, his sister, Pretty Polly, and feels her loss keenly. He sees a lot of his sister in her daughter, which was too painful for him to see. Unfortunately, he dealt with this by refusing to look at her and even leaving a room when she walked in for a long time, which hurt Rebecca in turn. Fortunately, Gordon put a stop to it before the damage was irreversible.
