Body-snatched zombie ladybugs! It's not science fiction, but a real invasion of parasitic organisms.
Pretty photographs of parasitic organisms. I've heard of the hairworm (and some of the others before), and it's incredibly fascinating. I am not finding anything that says precisely how they do this (though I don't believe they actively seek out water so much as blindly stumble into it), and I think there's still room for more study. I'd like to know the mechanism - is it a hormone? Is the hairworm lesioning the motor cortex? Ugh, so cool.
This should go on the list of things I should consider studying, I guess. Frankly, though, I get unsettled enough working with dead insects, let alone zombified ones.
I have a lot of stories about dead insects, interestingly enough. Comes from working in an entomology lab and, uh, being really bad at husbandry. Ask me about the decaying mantises, they're great.
What if Doc Knock teamed up with Dr. Horrible?
WHAT THEN??
