@scarredassassin from @mxnxchrxme-dream
As unaware as Kare was of her concerns, they would be understood. When his seals are unlocked, he cared little about the death of others, worryingly so, but such was his curse, and it all allowed him to become an assassin when otherwise he wouldn’t be able to bring himself to take another’s life.
Of course, their situations were different. Her question was one Kare wouldn’t be able to answer.
The frown gave way to incoming bad news in regard to his question, enough to make him slightly nervous.
“A being of pure hatred? That does sound like an awful existence.”
Eyes quivering, he gathered himself, the explanation reminded him too much of what happens to him in his Fourth State– A haunting reminder of something he always carries with him.
“They must have been in a bad way to have become as twisted as that. Though I am surprised to hear they can even be made up of insects.”
He sighed, shaking his head. Kare wanted to push away belief that they didn’t really exist, but he can’t shake the feeling she isn’t lying here, about any of this– He’s seen more than enough to know about otherworldly beings.
“Rejected life… No wonder they’ve ended up in such a state. I’m going to assume there is little that can be done to help them?”
The assassin couldn’t say if fouls could also help the creation of blanks, even if it was a small part of them, having considered them almost opposite beings by what he’s heard. Those of the dead, and those of the corrupted becoming a new life in itself would be an interesting mix, as well as likely dangerous.
Either way, he’s glad the other couldn’t take anything from him due to their completion, being a risk in himself.
“As long as it doesn’t hurt anyone… But I see. Not even a face, hm? You seem to have done well for yourself. I have to wonder if some would act out in violence if they did notice anything being taken.”
Kare shrugged.
“So, now you’re completed, what are your goals? To live the life your pieces lost before?”
“...Unfortunately, that’s the case, yes. The only way to take the hatred out of a Foul would be to have a Blank like myself absorb it or somehow neutralize it... which, as far as I know, results either in death or banishment back to the Rift we both originate from... Which accomplishes nothing, considering it’ll just escape again.”
Blanks were the natural defense system against Fouls - it was almost poetic in a way. Those who rejected all life and reality, against those that were given a new life in a new world.
“-Sadly, my experience isn’t universal. Every Blank is completely different, there probably is at least one out there who hurts the people they take from. Probably.”
Her somewhat somber tone changed when he asked her that final question, however. One that she’d never really thought about.
Now that she had a new life, what was she going to do with it?
“...I never really thought about it. I’ve been perfectly content staying home with my family...”
But her family wouldn’t be around forever, would they? Was this all just a temporary happiness?
“I’m not sure.”
