Enjoy the rich umami flavor of miso-marinated flat iron steak paired with savory soba noodles and crisp vegetables. This BBQ recipe is a perfect fusion of Japanese and barbecue influences, creating a delicious and satisfying meal for any occasion.
Ingredients: 1.5 lbs flat iron steak. 1/4 cup white miso paste. 3 tbsp soy sauce. 2 tbsp mirin. 2 tbsp sake. 2 tbsp brown sugar. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 tbsp grated ginger. 8 oz soba noodles. 2 tbsp sesame oil. 1 cup broccoli florets. 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced. 2 green onions, sliced. Toasted sesame seeds for garnish.
Instructions: To make the marinade, mix the miso paste, soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger together in a bowl. In a plastic bag that can be closed again, put the flat iron steak and pour half of the marinade over it. Put the bag in the fridge for at least two hours or overnight. Warm up the grill over medium-high heat. Grill the steak for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until it's done the way you like it. Let it sit for a while before cutting it. Follow the directions on the package to cook soba noodles. Run cold water over the drain and rinse. Set the sesame oil on medium heat in a large pan. Saut the broccoli and bell pepper until they are just starting to get soft. Add the cooked soba noodles and the rest of the marinade to the pan. Toss the vegetables and noodles to coat them evenly. Grill the steak and then cut it up and serve it on top of the vegetables and miso-marinated soba noodles. Before you serve, top with toasted sesame seeds and thinly sliced green onions.
