#SaveUnderground statement from Execuitive Producer John Legend.
#SaveUnderground (https://twitter.com/johnlegend/status/913041063740366849)
so disheartened to hear our show was not renewed by WGN. there has been an outpouring of support from the fans, so there's a chance someone else could pick it up (i’m looking at you hulu). either way, i want to take a moment to thank the the whole team who really poured their hearts and souls into this project, and made it such an incredibly rewarding & memorable experience through seasons 1 & 2. @mishatrillxxl, @jpokaski, @shinybootz, @johnlegend, @mike___jackson, Sony Television licensing team and of course our beyond gifted composers Laura Karpman & @raphael_saadiq. the ability to re-tell history, in an exciting bold new way and feature modern music was invigorating. polarizing, perhaps. but i think a majority of people found (as our producers so wonderfully put it) "take the story off a museum wall and out of the library and make it feel current and relevant". while the story took place in the mid-1800s, we are still certainly facing a lot of the same issues today. it truly feels like we were really just getting started here; there's so much story left to tell. #SaveUnderground in the meantime, enjoy the music from season 1+2 on spotify: http://bit.ly/UG-music
