Did you know that each year over 6 million animals are killed for dissection? 🐷🐱🐸🦈🐁 I remember in high school I was so grossed out by the fetal pig dissection I begged to opt out, and the teacher “punished” me by having me write an essay instead. I don’t remember anything about the essay I wrote, but I do remember being upset about it! 🐖🐷🐖🐷🐖🐷🐖🐷🐖🐷 Fast forward to 2019- and we now have the option of virtual dissection! Same learning power, less dead baby animals. If the goal of dissecting animals in the classroom is to learn about organs and their processes- why can’t that be done virtually? You could still have the hands on learning experience without being haunted by the smell of formaldehyde for years to come. If you google “virtual pig dissection” there are quite a few interactive sites available!
