Pera’dan Sarayburnu.Â
Witness Me, in its entirety, is delightful and I reread it often. Especially Blackbirds and Staring Into Open Flame. (I really love the additions to Distant War, too!) I wanted to ask about your Wrath of Maul commentary. What are your thoughts on what Maul wears or how his facial markings might be different as a child? I want to do a series of costumes for each stage of his life since they're all so unique and didn't want to leave it out, even if it might not be canon anymore?
*beams!*Â Wow, thanks!
I figure as a child, he probably just wore some kind of loose fitting exercise gear. In Wrath, whenever his clothing is mentioned, it’s black, and I doubt there was much variety. At Orsis, he probably wore Academy-issued clothes, so that might have had some color-variety, though likely as not they would have been muted colors? He wore winter gear when Sidious chucked him into the lake on Mygeeto. As a young adult, he mostly seems to wear the same basic tunic, robes, etc., just taking layers off or adding them on for the temperature. Unless he was invested in his appearance enough to bake himself on Tatooine. LOL! Oh! And he wore an orange prison jumpsuit in Lockdown.
As to his markings– that honestly depends on what you think of them? On one side of Legends, they’re actually tattoos, but that’s older than Wrath. On the other side, they’re the markings he gained on Dathomir when he was dipped in ichor as a newborn. I imagine they’re basically similar? In current canon, they’re the same; he’s always had them.
As to how they’ve changed; personally, I think he’s always had his mask, but I think that his diamonds were probably not very defined and he might have only had one on his nose as a little kid, then gained the second as an adolescent. I think that the markings on his bottom lip were probably less defined, too, like the fang marks (for lack of a better term for them) and that overall his markings were all likely more delicate and then widened and clarified as he grew. But that’s just my own guess there.
That one’s canon. If I was guessing an age, I’d say-- five-to-seven range?
SOMEONE PROTECT AND WRAP THAT CHILD IN BLANKETS AND GIVE HIM SOFT THINGS TO SLEEP ON AND CUDDLE WITH AND–
Ahem.
Think he was having a flashback to like– his early teens there. That one’s current canon, too.
