so if you tell vladimir that the starborn will attack when he tells you about the eye, in a NG+ save, you get to skip the high price to pay quest entirely and keep everyone alive. EVERYONE. and you are rewarded with one of the small dialogue cutscenes i love most in this game
because the constellation members are all alive and together and none the wiser to a fate theyβve just narrowly avoided. instead of cradling a body of someone they couldβve saved, instead of being split up only to suffer an unimaginable loss, they are all together. iβ always gripe about how we donβt hear enough or, hell, even SEE much of all of constellation interacting together, save for some throwaway lines or convos between the companions, my fav being one between sarah and barrett
but here they are actually all there. even andreja, who has actively stated her fears about being left out of constellationβs activities and such, IS THERE and is taken into the conversation by the others, included by the others.
can you IMAGINE what that must be like for the starborn spacefarer. thereβs a sense of deja vu, that something else had happened the first time, the first ten times, the first hundred times you did this. one of them is gone no matter what you do. sam is dead on the lodge floor. itβs too late to save sarah by the time you make it to the eye. but, just this once, you have saved THEM ALL. and instead of a split there is a connection. they are here and so happy to be here, to be together
sarah says something important, even if one might find it a little cringe. let cringe be cringe, sarah is almost definitely 40 years old snd she loves this team like she loves a family.
no matter what happens, weβre all in this together.
she might not know how true it is, but you will. and maybe itβs a good thing that she wonβt. that none of them will know the full extent of it. because for now theyβre safe and they will never know why
