Because Africans have been cosmopolitan and present everywhere in the world for centuries. Because this term seems to assume that “african” and “cosmopolitan ” are such antinomic words the invention of a new one is needed for the use of those who are both. Because, in an underlying way, this word tends to add value , in a problematic way, to  the African who is familiar with the capitals of the western world. The word “europolitan” would seem absurd.
