I've been wanting to do a crystal opening Usagi too. Did you buy any of the pieces? Any tips on constructing? patterns?
I bought the shirt, because I'd noticed stripes and crop tops were in fashion this summer and banked on being able to find one - which I eventually did at a local thrift store. It's a Charlotte Russe top (similar to this if not the exact same), but it doesn't seem to be available on their website.
I made the dress, though! It's a half circle skirt -- which I made using measurements tweaked from here, because circle skirt calculators are awesome! -- I attached a simple interfaced waistband, with a higher interfaced front "bib" with rounded corners, and added straps which cross in the back. (They're literally just long rectangles, sewn and then turned inside out. Simple is sometimes best!) I didn't use a pattern beyond the circle skirt calculator, but I'd also made a ton of circle skirts this summer for Serenity.
I think I hemmed it slightly too short, but then again, it's Sailor Moon, sooooo. I also used a really, really comfy soft and t-shirty cotton jersey, so I didn't have to line it, either!
Good luck with your Usagi! It's SUCH a comfy costume :D
(Oh, and, as for the umbrella, I used half fabric medium and half white paint, and did several layers with the bunnies, and then heat sealed the paint VEEEERY gently with my iron.)
