Biggest cause of concern in India are the safety of older buildings in the wake of a major earthquake. Buildings need to follow the latest construction codes to ensure the safety parameters are up to date. In cases where they’re not, experts stress on the need to retrofit older buildings so that their safety codes are in line with latest practices. While India’s real estate sector reels under the effect of Covid-19 induced lockdown, a bigger  problem slowly festers underneath its buildings: earthquakes. As per the data from the National Centre for Seismology,  the national capital territory alone has seen 18 mild tremors since April.
