SæhrÃmnir is a magical animal from Norse mythology. Commonly thought to be a boar (though this is disputed), it is killed and eaten every night by the Æsir and the einherjar, only to be reborn the next day.
SæhrÃmnir's nature is a source of academic debate. Some say that its name most accurately translates as "sooty sea-beast," indicating that it is actually a kind of fish.
