Sorry for not posting yesterday, but i was absolutely drained from the weekend 😪 I went out on Friday night, hung out at a friend’s house on Saturday and went to a book fair on Sunday! I had a lot of fun but only slept 7 hours in 3 days, so i’m absolutely wrecked... Here are the books i bought Sunday and i’m really looking forward to reading all of them!

Trebonianus Gallus AR Antoninianus. Antioch mint, AD 251-252. IMP C C VIB TREBONIANVS GALLVS PF AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right, two dots under bust / SAECVLLVM NOVVM, hexastyle temple with Roma seated within. VII in exergue RIC 90. Given the numerous spelling mistakes in last week’s posts (now corrected, my apologies), I though I would share a Roman spelling error from the reign of Trebonianus Gallus. Here, in their haste to report the start of a new golden age, signified by the coming of this new (short-lived) emperor, mints across the Mediterranean struck coins advertising the start of a new Saeculum, the new age, measured by the lifetime of a single man. So, of all the babies born on the first day of the new Saeculum, the one who lived longest determined the start of the next Saeculum, when he or she died, the new one began, with the idea that no one alive could remember the Saeculum before. In the end, it is roughly equivalent to a century. However, the mint at Antioch, part of the Greek-speaking region of the Empire, the Latin spelling was a bit of a challenge. Instead of Saeculum on the reverse, we get Saecullum, with two ls. An easy mistake, but proof that sometimes this stupid errors get immortalized. I’ll try to edit in the weeks to come, at least I’m not working in metal!
