My latest project that I've been working on this week! "Las Abejas" by Paraguayan genius, Agustin Barrios. I have found that, for me, it is absolutely necessary that I create my own arrangements of everything I learn because it is the only way that I can truly learn a piece and own it. I have never understood the reasoning behind learning another person's arrangement since we all have different musical interpretations and unique physical strengths as well as limitations. As I undergo this process I'll typically listen to several different versions as well as watching various videos to see how other guitarists at the top of their game have taken on the technical and musical challenges presented by the piece. ~ ~ ~ This particular piece requires special attention to both right hand and left fingering as it is meant to be played, essentially, as fast as possible. And while I was creating this arrangement I had to keep this in mind at every step. Now that I have all of the notes and fingerings down, the next step will be to practice it VERY slowly and deliberately, and gradually speed it up, but only once it feels completely ingrained at the current tempo. Keep an eye out for my video recording of this within the next month of two! ~ ~ ~ Play on. #ryanwalshguitar #visitportland #portlandoregon #pnwmusicians #classicalguitar #downtownpdx #guitar #spain #Spanishguitar #barrios #segovia #pnw #pnwonderland
