Following on the trend of posting something from my fic for the forgot my invite event. How are Ryan and Robert working at the garage at the same time? Dw about it
Aaron stops at the bottom of the path to the garage, suddenly unsure. There are two guys in overalls visible inside. Aaron recognises one of them, chatting to an older guy who must be a customer at the entrance while he cleans his hands on a dirty rag, as Vic's older brother Robert. Aaron's seen him before, mostly from afar when he's been dropping Vic off at the bus stop or drinking in the pub with the other lads from the garage. If Aaron didn't know he was Vic's brother he wouldn't have picked it, he's tall where she's short, blonde where she's dark. He wears his hair longish in the back and all spiked up in a way that would look stupid on anyone else, but annoyingly looks quite cool on him. He's very tanned for November, Aaron wonders if he's been on holidays recently. “Can I help you?” Aaron nearly jumps out of his skin when he realises that Robert has finished talking to the old bloke and is looking directly at him. “Um,” Aaron says, like an idiot. Robert raises an eyebrow, giving Aaron a once-over. It makes him feel too warm all of a sudden. "I'm here for the job," he manages. "Vic said to come 'round at nine." Robert's eyebrows climb even higher. "A job?" "Yeah." Aaron squares his shoulders a bit, shoves his hands into his pockets. "Oh," Robert's face lights up with recognition. "You're Vic's little friend." Aaron bristles. "I'm seventeen." "Aren't you a bit old to be sniffing around my sister then?" Robert frowns, taking a step forward, he shields his eyes from the sun. "Hang on, you're Chas Dingle's kid aren't you?" Aaron opens his mouth to argue, but he's interrupted by the arrival of the other guy. Ryan, according to the name tag on the front of his overalls. "Are you putting the fear of god in the poor lad Rob?" He asks, coming to drape an arm around Robert's shoulders. Robert shakes him off with a huff. "Claims he's here for a job." The back of Aaron's neck starts getting very hot. "Vic said she told you I was coming." "She might've," Robert says. "Didn't mention that you were a little chav though, or a Dingle for that matter." He turns back towards the garage, like he's bored with the conversation. Aaron can actually feel the job slipping through his fingers. "Better than being a sheep shagger," Aaron spits after him. Robert pauses, and then turns back towards Aaron with an expression of complete astonishment. "What the fuck did you just say to me?"
