According to the Mirror, Liverpool are reportedly looking to move quickly in a bid to sign one of Spain's hottest prospects - Saul Niguez - from Atletico Madrid before the close of the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old is currently on loan with Rayo Vallecano, and is enjoying a relatively decent season with the struggling club, having appeared 19 times so far scoring once from a deep midfield position.

Rayo, on the contrary, are not enjoying as pleasant a season, as they currently sit 19th in La Liga, five points adrift from fellow flops Elche and Malaga, who both sit on 21 points just above the drop zone, with Elche also currently waiting to play a game in hand. ,

Tough window 

The Reds are currently without reinforcements signed in this window, and they will head into Tuesday's game against Everton with up to SIX potential starters out with injury. Whilst Everton are also in a slight crisis for injuries, a number of their players (such as Distin, Jagielka and Barkley) face late fitness tests and the club have managed to strengthen in the window so far.

After failing to sign Mohammed Salah from FC Basel, which new quotes from Kop boss Rodgers' suggest was irritating for himself and down to unwillingness to meet the fee, Liverpool have reportedly moved quickly to secure the signing of Saul from his parent club Atletico.

Whilst it's understood that the club are yet to contact the Spanish giants, who defeated Rayo 4-2 at the weekend, rumour says that Rodgers has already met and agreed terms with his father-come-agent in a subtle meeting prior to the game.

It's further stated that Rodgers is set to make his final decision pretty sharply, and supposedly sent scouts to watch Saul play against his parent club, in which he played the full 90 minutes.
