The Rudston Monolith in the churchyard of the Rudston Parish Church (Yorkshire, England).  At 7.6 metres, it is the tallest megalith in Britain, and is from the Late Neolithic Period or Early Bronze Age.

At the heart of a 4,000-year-old ritual landscape of four cursus monuments, it’s a sacred site that influenced the siting of the medieval All Saints Church.

At almost 26' above ground the Rudston Monolith is the tallest megalith in the UK. Standing next to it feels literally awesome. It stands right next to the Rudston Parish Church of All Saints, showing a continuity of this sacred space through the millennia. The closest source for the stone is almost 10 miles north of the site, although it may have been brought to the area by glacial movement. I wonder how much of it is underground?
