✶.◟ and genuinely takes note of the kind of things that make you laugh the most at and will recreate similar jokes/bits and check if you still found it funny

✶.◟ because she’s actually a loser!!! suchhh a huge losergirl when she’s in love and it’s genuinely so adorable

✶.◟ because she absolutely will pretend to be all cocky and confident with you

✶.◟ and she definitely just is sometimes, like she’s always smirking if she can make you flustered

✶.◟ but secretly she’s like oh my god they’re so cute and i’m super in love

✶.◟ and if you ask me she’s just a silly! a silly and she really really likes to kiss you so you’d better give her lots and lots of kisses

✶.◟ she will never ever admit it but she’s a sucker for hand holding

✶.◟ kissing is definitely her favorite though, just kiss her everywhere all the time and she’ll be satisfied

✶.◟ she really loves it when you kiss her wrists (and obviously she’ll let you drink her blood from there as well!)

✶.◟ but she really just cannot get enough of the feeling of your lips on hers. she’ll literally kiss you for hours

✶.◟ if it keeps you with her, she’s willing to sacrifice a lot actually, and that does include her blood if you want it too

✶.◟ she’s actually really very observant of you and your habits and your likes and dislikes and personality quirks and pretty much everything

✶.◟ and she’s definitely not loud about that, but it shows if she randomly mentions it or the situations calls for her to remember

✶.◟ yes she can be frowny and brooding in the corner with her black leather jacket and her arms crossed over her chest

✶.◟ she can be quiet and grumpy like a pretty black cat, but she’s probably brooding in the corner because she’s feeling protective of you

✶.◟ so she’s like an angry puppy growling at whoever threatened you . and then she kills them <33

✶.◟ and like i think she will pout at you when you don’t give her what she wants and then realize and be like >:( no i’m in charge go buy my more french fries

✶.◟ i also see her getting playful! she teases you and is sort of annoying by dragging you around or joking around in sort of serious situations

✶.◟ just envision walking down the street with her, casually holding her hand and she thinks of something sort of stupid to say

✶.◟ so she stops you by grabbing your intertwined hands with her free one and pulling on you as she leans forward and up to catch your attention

✶.◟ she’s got big eyes, clearly pretending to be innocent, but you see that sparkle of mischief and raise an eyebrow at her

✶.◟ and she’ll just start blabbing about something completely irrelevant and probably unserious and silly just because it’ll both annoy and endear you lol

✶.◟ but when you tug her along, she follows willingly, forgetting that she was also annoying you by stopping you in the middle of your tracks

✶.◟ she just keeps talking because now she’s invested in the topic and because you’re actually listening

✶.◟ you listen to her, and she loves you for it; not too many people are very keen on hearing her out, but you do

✶.◟ so that means she’ll talk to you forever and ever and sometimes she lets too much slip and she wonders if she should stop

✶.◟ but she always decides against it because you have her wrapped around your finger (not that she’d ever admit it)

✶.◟ and that’s fine because that just means you’re even; she definitely has you wrapped around her finger just the same

✶.◟ she definitely does enjoy having some sort of feeling of power over you, even if it’s subtle

✶.◟ like you probably just should tell her that she’s always right and agree with everything she says because why would you even question such a pretty face and cute smile

✶.◟ she actually can be pretty smiley around you hehe. once against she’s actually really adorable and a total dork

✶.◟ request asked what she’d like doing with you and um i think she likes staring at you :)

✶.◟ and as previously mentioned she likes kissing you too like a lot a lot for sure

✶.◟ do not underestimate her cuddlebug potential. but like in the way that she’s trying to get in your skin and live there like the prettiest parasite ever

✶.◟ or she wants you to cuddle her like that; she will let you in don’t worry but if the next best thing is drinking her blood you can do that too

✶.◟ she also likes going on dates where you order french fries with both of your meals and then she eats all of yours <3

✶.◟ she really likes it when you play with her hair but not if she’s about to go out

✶.◟ don’t ruffle her hair though she’ll bite your hand off probably (she’s blushing secretly but she’ll still bite your hand off)

✶.◟ um she’s a biter and she wants you to bite her too. her other love language is biting

✶.◟ and also give her attention and love alllll the time, be the one who tells her that she’s awesome and better than all those sons of bitches!

✶.◟ but she also likes to be the one to take care of you and push you around to her liking

✶.◟ puts her sweet little hands on your back to push you across the room or guide you down the hallway

✶.◟ and she’s very protective of you; recall to her killing people for you <3

✶.◟ will absolutely intimidate the waiter or cashier who didn’t give you the exact right order

✶.◟ they asked for extra ketchup >:(

✶.◟ you probably only ordered extra ketchup for her to use on her fries because she uses so damn much to be honest

“what? i’m serious!” she insists, a bit of a laugh in her voice too. she looks at you, picking out her favorite features of yours in the dim, pre-sunrise morning light. “you think anything i say is funny, don’t you?” she’s almost condescending in the teasing, but in the way that makes it seem like she likes that she can make you laugh without trying. it strokes her ego, tells her she has you hooked.

of course, you have her hooked too. your laugh might be her drug of choice. and sometimes it feels like it wasn’t even her choice. it just happened, and now she loves you, in all the ways she knows how. i mean, for god's sake—well, not god’s, she’d say—you order french fries instead of potato chips with your meal at that stupid diner so that she can eat them. she’s pretty sure you don’t like french fries very much.

“not anything,” you defend yourself. it’s a lie. if she meant for it to be even remotely humorous, you’re very likely to laugh about it. or at least give a little amused scoff. she loves that sound, too.

when she really thinks about it, she doesn’t just like that she can make you laugh so effortlessly to know that she has you. she just likes it when you smile. ruby likes the way that you wear joy, and she likes to be the one to put it on you.

“yes, anything,” she argues, shaking her head at you playfully. “it’s cute,” she states, grinning and reaching over to place her hand on the back of your head. “c’mon, baby. admit you think anything i say is funny.”

“that’s not fair,” you disagree, turning your head to her the second you feel her soft hand there. “you’ve already decided, you just want to hear me say it.”

“i do,” she confirms with a loving smirk, leaning closer. you can’t hold back a breathy huff of laughter because you think it’s funny that she doesn’t even try to deny it. and with that, you’ve really been caught, and there’s no use in saying anything except for what she wants to hear.

“fine,” you force the falsely begrudging word through a grin that’s difficult to contain. “you’re right.” she looks at you, pleased. her dark brown eyes are dim at this hour, the cross above her head has turned upside down. fields surround the decaying church, and the sun won’t rise for almost another hour. ruby leans a little closer, but she waits for you.

she likes when you call her pretty, when you cross lines, when you tangle your hands in her hair and slot your hips against hers, but it turns out that she doesn’t like the big three words. they fall from your tongue, murmured in the softness of that afterglow, your lips brushing against her ear as you hold her naked form close.

when she hears that, she stills, then shakes her head. “no, you don’t,” she whispers back, almost sounding guilty. you thought she liked having you wrapped around her pretty little fingers, and that those words would be the ultimate expression of your willingness to be hers. you don’t expect her to say it back, at least not today, but she’s impressively fast to pull her clothes back on a rush out the bedroom. you follow, more clumsy than her, bewildered by her reaction.

“ruby, wait,” you call after her, stopping her in the hallway between the front room and kitchen of your apartment. your fingers wrap around your wrist.

“you shouldn’t say that,” she tells you, frowning, and much more serious with you than she usually is.

“i didn’t expect you to say it back,” you explain, “and i’m sorry if you didn’t want to hear it.” you frown back. “but i meant it, and i’m allowed to tell you what i feel if i want.”

she shakes her head again. “this isn’t that,” she says, and it is mean to you.

“it is to me,” you insist, “i mean, jesus, what part of ‘i love you’ do you not understand?”

“none of it!” she snaps vehemently, “i’m a demon.”

“i don’t think that’s true,” you retort, “i think you remember more about being human than you let on, i think you actually care. you’re acting like you know exactly what i mean when i say that, and like i shouldn’t feel that way about you. ruby, i don’t give a damn that you’re a demon, that you’re not a good person, or whatever. and maybe you don’t love me back, but you like me and it scares you, doesn’t it?”

she glares at you like you’re right. “i can’t be what you want. i don’t want to be what you want,” she says plainly.

“you don’t know what i want,” you insist, “and i don’t care. i’m not asking you to be what i want. i’m not asking for anything back. but it’s stupid to pretend that you’re only here for the sex. you kiss me like you mean it.”

ruby’s the type to keep arguing, but she also knows she can’t convince you otherwise. “i’m not–,” she huffs out a sigh, not even sure what her counterpoint is supposed to be. this whole time she hasn’t tried to move away from you. her small wrist is still in your hand. her fingers itch to thread through yours.

you’ve taken her unbeaten heart and made it flutter, made it clench, made it thump in her chest. she just really likes the way your eyes get all fuzzy and unfocused when she kisses you.

when she asked if you’d do anything for her, she never intended to put you in any danger. but you’d follow her anywhere, even into the fray of knives and guns and ruthless smiles. it’s true that you can handle yourself, however mindless you get when you’re with her, but you’re certainly not invincible.

there’s a man aiming to stab her straight through the back. “ruby!” you shout in warning, whirling in place to block the blow. your own knife stops him, but you’re thrown off balance and the next swipe of his weapon comes in contact with your side, ripping through fabric and skin.

and for the first time, ruby dislikes the sight of blood. she stabs the man who sliced your skin through the throat. he’s the last of them, so she grabs your wrist and pulls you away, an angry scowl on her face. you must be crazy, because all you can think about is the way you’d love to kiss that frown from her lips.

her fingers around your wrist aren’t all that gentle. she’s upset, you can tell. but her hold on you is never harsh. in her car, she grabs you a clean rag and grumbles for you to keep it pressed against the cut in your side. her jaw is clenched and she runs her thumb over your cheekbone for a quick moment before closing the door and going around to the driver’s seat.

she drives you back to the motel room you stayed in last night, sitting you down on the side of the bed. she puts a hand over yours that holds the rag in place, leans down, and kisses you softly. 

she steals your breath away, you train of thought, your pain even. every damn time, her kisses make your mind go blank and your muscles fall slack.

“you have to be more careful,” she murmurs right against your lips. it takes you a moment to register what she actually said. she moves back a little and you just hum in acknowledgment. her other hand smooths over the side of your head. “you can’t be so reckless like that, baby. okay?” and it hits you that she’s worried about you. she’s almost doting in this moment. and she’s letting herself love on you, in a pure and soft way.

honestly, you don’t really care what form her kisses come in, as long as they’re given to you. but this feeling easily overpowers the sting over your lower ribs. it flows from her lips through yours and when you swallow it, it goes to your heart rather than your stomach, and it makes you full.

it’s sweet on your tongue, with a subtle irony tang to it, so it must have come from her heart, too. which means that her heart can’t be empty, if she’s giving from it. that means that her heart fills with blood for you, because there wasn’t anything much to give before. now, she’d kiss you for hours, even if it meant that you bled her dry.

“i’ll be careful,” you finally murmur, pulling her back to you with a slightly bloodied hand and kissing her again. she kisses back without a split second of hesitation and lets your lips linger for a moment or two. but she’s anxious to get you patched up, so she pulls away and grabs your first aid kit. then she sinks to her knees in front of you. her fingers find the hem of your shirt and lift it up. you finish the job and toss it aside, easily baring yourself and the cut to her.

she winces lightly when she sees it clearly, then grabs what she needs from the first aid kit. it’s really not that bad; it won’t even need stitches. ruby still hates it, so she uses gentle hands to clean it up. she blows on it softly after applying alcohol to lessen the sting and she holds your hip with a reassuring, soft and small hand when she’s working one-handed. she bandages it carefully and skillfully.

you grab her wrist when she stands and turns to go without explanation. “where are you going?” you ask, eyes pleading just a little bit as you look up at her. her eyes and smile are endeared looking back down at you. it’s so very sweet to her that you can’t bear for her to leave for even a moment without knowing where she’s off to.

“you need water,” she answers simply, resisting the urge to tease you. she just really loves to tease you, and you make it quite easy with those pretty eyes and soft lips. sometimes you look a little pathetic, the way a puppy does when it wants affection. it’s adorable, really. she could likely get high off the look you give her after she kisses you. like she’s a god, or at least a drug. you have that in common; you both get no better high than being with the other.

you let her wrist go because she’s right, but mostly because it makes you all giddy that she's looking after you like this. usually you’re the one to remind her about water. she doesn’t feel thirsty, but you take care of her body for her. now she’s doing it. relearning from you maybe, what it’s like to tend to someone else.

god, she’s so damn pretty when she crosses the room and grabs the motel’s extra water bottle. ruby looks nice with her back turned to you. even better when she comes back. you can see her when she kisses you, but you’re sure that’s when she looks best.

“you’re so pretty,” you murmur, over and over again, right against her lips. she drinks that up, then spits it back out with a quiet, doting mouth. she interrupts things for a minute, but this time you let her, sure that she's got a sweet enough reason. she pulls a new, soft shirt over your head to protect your bandages, then her hands are laying you down against the pillows.

ruby’s kissing you and kissing you and you could go insane because you’ll never get enough, and yet, this is perfect and better than anything you could ever ask for. she doesn’t let you move, doesn’t let you get needy or restless. your hunger for her is boundless, but she feeds it until you’re too tired to eat. then she kisses your forehead and rests her head on your chest. she could keep kissing you all night, she really could. but she lets you sleep and she knows you like the weight of her on you.
