is there any hope to actually see it?

Thank you so much for your interest in the fic! It is a fic that is very near and dear to my heart, and I absolutely have not abandoned it.

Unfortunately, I have not had much time to dedicate to writing recently due to Real Life (namely, working six days a week and raising a toddler) and the burn out that comes with it.

I'm not sure when my mojo will come back (hopefully after the holidays), but I definitely haven't abandoned the Spite Fic and will absolutely post a link to it once it is finished! I tag all of my fic posts with 'ruby writes fic', so that would be the one to keep an eye on. I also post all of my fics on my AO3!

Hello! Apologies for the late reply, with the weather warming up here, I am spending less time on the computer and more time trying to domesticate my absolutely feral flower beds.

As for your question, I think Obi-Wan would basically turn to look at Anakin like this

"This is your fault!"

But more seriously, I think his reaction would really depend on when the realization took place. In a No Order 66 AU directly post Siege of Mandalore, I think he would be more Disappointed Jedi Master Kenobi than anything, though that would probably also depend on whether or not Anakin almost (or actually) Fell.

If he had, then I think Obi-Wan would actually be much more willing to “turn the other cheek” so to speak, seeing as he had just been staring down the reality of losing his best friend to the Dark Side because Anakin didn’t think he could confide in Obi-Wan about his relationship (or in my Obikin shipper heart, about his feelings in general). So in that instance, I think Obi-Wan would be much more willing to try to understand Ahsoka and Maul’s relationship, mostly due to the fact that he feared if he drove her away, he would be driving her to the Dark Side.

Now, in a more lighthearted world, I imagine it would basically be like that scene in Teen Wolf were the father finds his daughter making out with A Terrible Life Decision (in his eyes, I loved Isaac) and summons her into his office (”Where I keep my guns”) for us to hear him yell “ANOTHER WEREWOLF?” offscreen (though in this case it would be “A SITH LORD?”). Ahsoka, however, would be unrepentant, and this would probably lead to Obi-Wan and Anakin finding her and Maul making out in every shadowy corner, Force help them.

However, because you asked and because I like some crunch to my headcanons, I think my favorite AU would be one where Ahsoka contacts Obi-Wan about her and Maul’s plan to defeat Sidious, thus having him go to them instead of confronting Anakin on Mustafar. But they’re too late, and the Purge still happens, forcing the trio to flee together. They keep moving, dodging the newly formed Empire, and all the while, Obi-Wan watches Ahsoka and Maul circle each other, slowly drawing nearer and nearer. He tries to talk to Ahsoka, to caution her, but she is still bitter and angry at the Council’s willingness to sacrifice her. And Obi-Wan, still raw and bleeding from the loss of Anakin, watches helplessly as another person he cares about - another person he loves, even though he’s not supposed to - steps farther away from the path he has dedicated his entire life to.

Thank you so much! At the moment it is not posted, but rather haunting me through the floorboards of my hard drive. In general I've moved away from posting WIPs until they're finished, purely so I don't end up stricken by guilt in case I lose my inspiration halfway through.

However, now that I am done with the SW Valentine's Fest, I am back to working on The Spite Fic, so hopefully it will be ready to be posted soon! I post all of my work on AO3, and generally post a link on this account as well (which I definitely will with The Spite Fic, because I enjoy making the purity bloggers angry), which are all tagged ‘ruby writes fic’. But, because it makes me really happy when people are excited for my fic, I offer another snippet in thanks for your wonderfully kind words!

“Y'know, you have tried to kill me. Multiple times. It's not exactly unreasonable for me to be a little suspicious,” Ahsoka snapped, moving to cross her arms before remembering the myriad of ways that would hurt. Maul sighed, glancing back up at Ahsoka even as he began to slowly peel the faded bacta patches off of her thigh.

“I thought we agreed that I am not your enemy. Not at this moment.”

“Yes, well...” The tips of Maul's fingers brushed against the inside of Ahsoka's thigh, leaving a trail of warmth across the suddenly sensitive skin and sending a shiver up Ahsoka's spine that she violently repressed. “Things can change. I mean, you are a Sith.”

Maul paused, halfway through pulling up another bacta patch. Ahsoka tensed, all of her senses immediately snapping on alert. She suddenly realized how vulnerable she was, trapped in this room with Maul between her and the door, unarmed and wearing nothing but a too-big wrapped robe, every wound and weakness on display.

“I think,” Maul said after a moment, his voice strangely soft, “that I am no more a Sith now than you are a Jedi.”

I have a wicked soft spot for Ahsoka and the Wolfpack (as exemplified by this post) and a fondness for Shovel Talk fics in general, so naturally I just had to combine the two

Though, in fairness, Ahsoka gets a lovely shovel talk from Cody that's basically 'I have neither the time nor the patience to listen to Rex mope, so if you break his heart, I'm marooning you both on an uninhabited asteroid until you work your shit out.'

Congrats, nonny, you just won me $5! I bet my friend that the first anon hate I got was gonna be about Star Wars, and I was right!

While I could go into the discussion of how my post didn't actually imply any romantic feelings between the two of them, and how even if it did we have no idea what kind of latency period either Ahsoka or Maul has, since neither of them are human (50 year old Baby Yoda anyone?), and that... wait for it... IT IS FUCKING FICTION...

L: How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

I am a consummate "edit as you go" person (which is a habit I have actually been trying to break myself of), but I usually do at least one big editing read through before I post something. I also have a tendency to edit any time I do a reread of my progress, which I generally do if I have stepped away from a fic for any amount of time.

S: Any fandom tropes you can't resist?

Oh man, so many! There Was Only One Bed and Huddling For Warmth are some classics I can never pass up. Accidental Baby Acquisition is also always fun (particularly when an unlikely character ends up being the baby whisperer). Also, Person(s) A forcing Person B to eat/sleep/go to medical/generally take care of themselves is always a yes please for me, especially if Person A is trying very hard to pretend their concern is purely professional and has nothing whatsoever to do with any tender feelings, romantic or otherwise. (SWTCW fandom, I am looking at you, you beautiful people!) And that's not even getting started on the sexy times tropes I devour at any opportunity.

U: Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

Oof, this is a tough one, since I am less of a person who follows writers and more of a person who follows ships. But I will read literally anything @blue-charlotte (hayj on AO3) writes, and not just because I devoured a good dozen of her fics before realizing they were written by the same person, but also because she is the Marlie/CM2 shipper of my heart and was one of the first people to welcome me into the Revo fandom (which, as someone who was mostly writing “problematic” ships and was a little worried about a mob with pitchforks, I cannot even begin to explain how much her kindness meant to me).

@veliseraptor is someone who, even though we don’t share any fandoms anymore, I always enjoying seeing post updates and headcanons and fic ideas, because she is a meticulous, dedicated writer who has honestly been an inspiration to me when it comes to writing angst/whump/dark fics. Her determination in the face of The Purity Police has inspired and reassured me on nights when I am worrying about the reception of my own headcanons/fics, and given me the confidence to tell anon haters to firmly go suck on an exhaust pipe. (Seriously, if you like The Untamed, go check her out, Lise is a lovely human being and her work is a joy to read)

I haven’t found them on Tumblr yet, but countessofbiscuit gets a spot on this list because they have written some of my all time favorite SWTCW fics and the way they write the clones is one of my favorites so far, so I am 100% more likely to read a SW fic if I see it is written by them.

V: If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

This is hard, because the fic itself is absolutely perfect, but I would love to play in the world of Erinyes_kiss' 'The Hart, The Hind, and The Hound', for a multitude of reasons. Besides the fact that it is probably one of my favorite fics to date, it was also one of the first fics to really get me on the CM2 bandwagon. I would read an entire novel of this fic, I love the premise so much. But as for personally writing in/around it, the structure of the fic itself leaves plenty of room for expansion/extrapolation, without having to risk compromising the original work. Also, I feel like I have a similar enough writing style that I would be able to (hopefully) do an addition justice.

W: Do you like more general prompts, or more specific ones?

There are pros and cons to both. If I am going to be writing a full-fledged fic for an exchange or something, I tend to like more general/broader prompts, since that way there is room for if the story takes a few turns (as my stories have a tendency of doing). However, if you're talking ideas/headcanons/inspirations, I love the super specific ones. Slice of life ones in particular, since those can be written without having to work them into a larger prompt.

As for more, I definitely have more ideas - (just last night one came to me of Tommy coming into the Garrison and seeing Grace holding baby Karl and going absolutely Soft over it) - but I do not have a definitive timeline on when I will actually finish said fics (the eternal lament of a fic writer)

That being said, I definitely still love this pairing and this show! And I will write more, and post links to them here, which will be tagged ‘ruby writes fic’
